What's On Your Wrist?

Pre-ordered the Apple Watch. Sport band (black) with the larger screen size. Expected June delivery. I’m kind of excited, but also a little worried that I’m wasting my money. It just looks like such a cool gadget, and I love gadgets.

the good news is that after a few weeks, if you’re sick of having to charge your watch every night, and don’t find the product very useful since you’re not op room doctor, a bank robber or cow inseminator (the only jobs I can think of where you can’t just use your hands to check your phone for messages) you can always sell it for 90% of what you paid for it since Apple protects prices very well.

^^ LOL thanks for the reassurance, sak!!

I don’t get it. Why are you afraid to break it? You don’t even work in construction or whatever. You have a desk job.

the financial consequences of carrying a couple thousand dollars on your wrist and it going wrong are pretty disconcerting

reality is nothing will happen, but the fear of something happening is tough to overcome.

Here’s another reality…parents will often drive their kids to school to ‘keep them safe’, because they worry about their kids getting abducted etc. Reality? It’s more likely their child will be injured or killed in a car crash on the way to school than it is they will be abducted.

Tell 100 parents that, and they will not change their approach. They will continue doing the thing that is statistically unnecessary, and in fact more dangerous, because overcoming their perception is just too much.

Relatedly, I was on the fence about getting the Apple warranty for the watch, but I guess it’s worth purchasing. From what I’ve read, though, the watch is pretty durable - and the build quality is supposedly top notch for all three versions.

Xmas gift. Simple. I like it

I’m surprised no one here put a Panerai up.
That’s my baby for special occasions, a gift from my grandfather, a PAM127 who made me promise never sell this beauty (he is a paneristi?!? Those guys that collects panerais)

Anyways it’s the only watch worth showing I have, but I rarely use it since panerai only did 1950 of these worldwide and I already managed to get some dings on this one.

Ps: and yes my hands are dirty coz I just did brakes on my A3
