If I were a betting man…this will be the last ever h2o.
;D
Slow4, I, and a few other people are going.
Why?
Maybe because of this: http://mdcoastdispatch.com/2013/10/15/h2oi-event-brings-surge-in-oc-police-calls-traffic-citations-mayor-we-have-no-control-over-it/
yeah, every year the show barely happens because they are struggling for funding.
If APR is in tough as much as it looks like they are, they’re likely going to scrutinize footing the bill to be title sponsor.
Being title sponsor of events like waterfest + h20 + all the other ones (SoWo, wustefest etc) means giant money…and it is also a show of might and strength rather than a financially wise decision. So when the company is firing people left and right, and de-prioritizing actual parts development (RS5 and B8 S4 stage 3) I highly doubt ponying up to be title sponsor next year will be high on the list of priorities.
Most people that I know don’t go to H20i for the show. They go for the craziness from Thursday to Saturday and leave before the show. There are a bunch of meets before the actual show. I am still torn on if I will even go to the show this year. I have been thinking about leaving early Sunday to go to MIR and then go home to watch the football games.
Do you often go to Ocean City as a group of 10,000? or is it just when H20i is on? I reckon it’s the former not the latter. Thus the lack of a show will mean the lack of you going.
Good luck organizing ‘the majority of people’ to all go on the same weekend next year if there is no show.
You have a point. I guess that I just have enough faith in the show going on.
I think it was 2012 where it only got put together last minute when a big sponsor stepped up. Otherwise, it was going to be cancelled.
That OC post is funny.
I would like to see actual numbers of Audi/VW’s in this statement.
During that time, the Ocean City Police Department reported a total of 2,207 calls for service between officers and citizens, and between traffic stops, traffic citations, and traffic warnings, there was a total of 1,584 traffic enforcement actions. There were also a total of 14 alcohol citations, 53 total arrests, seven drug arrests, four weapon arrests and seven DUI arrests.
As for all the trouble this weekend causes the OCPD makes out like bandits but give the Audi/VW groups a
bad reputation.
As if all that was just the Audi/VW’s?
Lets just call it Audi/VW trouble week with NO sponsors and NO event just Audi’s and VW’s make it a
advertised drive to Ocean City. And I’ll bet dollars to doughnuts that Diesel trucks and ricers show up and make trouble.
Last year a diesel truck doing burnouts got us kicked out of two parking lots!
