Will a 2,75 exhaust help the RS4....

yup

2.75 stock car other wise = 20whp and 23wtq…thats more then eurocode headers…wow big gains.

oh shit more 2.75 data…ODD RESULTS…these results are…21whp and 20wtq

The smaller 2.5 not as much but still some gain.

So no need to argue many people have already done the testing. I have more stuff on more 2.75 exhaust tests but they all say about the sme thing. 20+whp 20+wtq

And there it is. Looks like JHM got it right.

Any thoughts on if 2.75" will help a B6 S4 with a built motor?

Saki put it out there in another thread and I thought this would be a good place to raise it again.

What do you mean ?
People were advertising 2.75 inch downpipes and exhausts years before JHM .

Sorry duud, did he say jhm invented 2.75?

No.

He said jhm got it right. As in choosing 2.75.

Who got it wrong (diameter) ?
Awe
Milltek
Gmg
Capristo
Supersprint
Magnaflow
Scorpion
Etc

Many of those sound fantastic and frankly most buyers don’t care about power they just want their car a bit louder. But for this discussion (performance) those guys all missed the mark.

Only a few companies went 2.75 and frankly they all missed the boat on some aspect of the design. No crossover or jagged bends or a badly placed X pipe. Jhm got all of that right too. Even if you compared the other 2.75 exhausts just visually I think you’d have to say the jhm setup looks to be the best designed. If you tested them I think you’d confirm what your eyes told you.

The jhm system is priced to match or beat every one of those options other than maybe magnaflow. I am looking forward to your complaints about all of those who charge as much as or more than jhm, since you appear to be revolted at rs4 exhaust pricing. I am oarticularly interested to hear your thoughts on the 2.25 " $4000 Capristo catback. Or the $7000 Supersprint fullback that actually robs power in independent testing.

PM me when you start a thread somewhere about the other companies. Make sure you reference jhm pricing in there when you do as people will likely be impressed that the best product is priced very competitively.

I’ve also thought about the idea of 2.75" on an S4. I’d be curious to see a comparison between stock, 2.5" and 2.75" on a stock-ish car and something like Axel’s or some other SC’d and soon enough maybe a built motor S4.

For me, I’m planning on doing a JHM SC eventually, wondering if getting JHM 2.75" exhaust from the start would be better than getting the 2.5" and then selling it down the road.

What I mean is the exhaust package they are marketing and selling looks to have a reasonable and correlating effect on performance.

me too (wondering about the 2.75 thing)

we saw a comparison of 2.25 milltek vs. 2.5 JHM custom catback vs no catback on a nitrous car…and no catback was the hands down winner, (1-2 tenths and 1-2 mph better), then 2.5, then way behind (5-6 tenths more and 5-6 MPH) was milltek. Milltek was terrible. So ends the backpressure myth.

Justincredible did this on audizine.

Saki you’re right . I mis-interpreted

I know and helped build a few sets of the JHM headers in my free time. When there I can tell you that JHM did test with a 2.5 on the RS4 then they stepped up to the 2.75. This wasnt a just jump into 2.75 they tested it for several months.

I know this has been said on several posts over on several forums. I just thought I would add it here.

Price wise knowing what it takes to make certian parts. I can tell you that for 321 stanless 2.75 is expensive.

each foot of 304 Virgin stainless (not cheap crap) is going to be 17-20$ a foot when you add in shipping you can call it almost 20$ a foot. now keep in mind you can get non virgin non thick wall exhaust piping but when you realize that the JHM 2.75 exhaust dosent drone you know why they get thick wall.

your talking over 14feet of exhaust 14 at 20$ = 280$ for each side = 560 for the over all length of pipie

add then the mufflers at say 200$ each so thats 400$ in mufflers then tips then clamps welding then hangers. Each bend costs money. and you can see why the catback is priced where its at.

For this part we were talking about the Dps

Well the flanges are going to be very expensive say 100$ then the Vbands they are 100$ then the flex joints the 2.5 ones I found were 60$ Each then the 02 bungs maybe 25 each Then the bends are more money 2.5 feet of pipe on each site. thats another 100

So your over 500$ for the dps in parts and you haven’t welded anything yet. You did add the bracket and the hangers.

I used to think exhaust was cheap. You can get a magnaflow exhaust for cheap. Its 4 series stanles it wont fit and it will get Scarface rust.

Its all about materials and quality. When you look at what your getting Vs what other charge I think its a good price but I see what goes into it so I think there not charging enough
