I have a real genuine rosstech vag com cable that I’ve used a few times messing around on my S5. I’ve changed a few things with the seatbelt chime door locks and a few other things.
The question. A work colleague just got a brand-new 2015 S4 will my cable work? Can I still change things in the modules?
What are some popular changes? Lastly I suppose I could Google this but he doesn’t think the car has launch control but he has an automatic. How do I activate the launch control program?
The B8 S4 has had LC since the 2011 model year. I believe the B8.5 S4s have it too. Your cable should work. I have a list of quick VCDS mods that I can post up once I get to my computer.
The VCDS modifications would be spectacular.
I too believe he has it on the 2015 however since he isn’t an enthusiast of cars as much as we are I believe he came to this conclusion due to not knowing how to activate the launch control and he said it wasn’t in the brochure.
That leads to my next question. How do you activate the launch control on the B8 S4? Is it as easy as foot on brake traction control off? Or do you need to put it in sports mode?
The only way to find out is to hook it up and try. I messed with a friends A7 and RS5 before Ross-Tech had worked out all the bugs. It didn’t like the RS5 much because it kept throwing error messages and I had to run a scan as a normal A5.
Seat belt chime, roll windows up/down with key fob, lap timer, etc are the common vagcom mods.
By the way, I have noticed that the vagcom is SOOO much faster with a newer car that has a Gateway Module. It takes between two to three times longer to run a full system scan on a older non-Gateway car like a B6/7 S4.
Dynamic + Sports mode, turn off first level of traction control, press brake pedal firmly and then press the accelerator all the way. What you should feel is the revs go up and then hold at a certain RPM (I can’t remember what it is on the B8 S4). After that, let go of the brake pedal. If the car wants to lurch forward with the brakes applied, you’re probably doing something wrong.

You should be able to. Just make sure to update to the latest software version
dont see why you wouldn’t be able to use the vagcom, i dont believe they changed any modules on the 15my.
