Winter mods...

David, LOL… You never know… I’ll probably stick with the little blower this year and try to get under 11.5 and then upgrade, hopefully with aftermarket support… I think APR is working on something but will see…

Lout, Great idea and that is what I did…

It appears there are a few options and I have some questions out on them… apparently the R32 is a 75mm and would work and also, believe it or not Dodge runs the Siemens VDO and it is 80mm… Just want to verify that the plug will work as I really don’t want to run a piggy… Found a guy that mods them for Dodges and may order from him…

Looking for an intake now…

Can any of the 4.2 guys check the size on your TB and the plug… pics would be appreciated…

Richi, If this works out I’ll get the TB this week, my brother will make the adapter plate, and get a intake fabbed up in the next couple… I’ll install and run TB adaptation via vagcom… if that goes well and the car idles and such fine, I would love to ship the entire setup for you so you could test it during driving as I won’t drive my car in the winter… I would like to verify that this will work before I yank the blower to port… I’m also going to call APR to get their thoughts… I can’t see this leaning out the car but who knows… I’ll have an update later in the week… most places are closed today…

S5 4.2 FSI, Q7 4.2 FSI used that motor, all with the same TB. Not sure about the A6/A8 4.2 FSI.

The high revving version (RS4, R8) uses a different 90mm throttle valve (among a bunch of other much bigger differences top to bottom from heads to oil pan/lubrication system etc.). I think the 90mm would only be in the 8000 rpm version in the RS4/R8. Not sure on the ‘new’ 4.2 FSI with the dual intakes in the RS5. Haven’t seen a study guide for that yet.

I remember reading that it has two 70mm throttle bodies

Awesome, dodge parts on an Audi there is a new one lol

Neat.

P.S. What’s with that ‘I am here’ thing on your posts? Better not be cheating on your girlfriend at her sister’s appartment lol.

hahaha idk i setup tapatalk on my iPad and it randomly did it

primetime, are you still running cats on your dps? if so, a switch to catless will find you huge gain

Yes, still have the cats from 034… You would think… will probably go that route at some point… I can do most of my own mods but my brother and I aren’t comfortable pulling the motor and the dealership won’t do it for me because they legally can’t remove the cats… If I had a good/trusted mechanic local I would have probably already… Interestingly I got a PM the other day from someone who said a recent EC header customer lost power… Not sure if it is true or not and I haven’t seen posts on it… There was a facebook post but it got deleted pretty quick… I’ll focus on the TB/blower this winter and some weight reduction and hopefully someone else goes the header route that has a DSG and drag races alot so I can truly see the results…

i got that same email, turns out that they were not headers but were 034 cat pipes "Rich, It was actually with high flow cats. a local guy lost 11 whp, back to back dyno. Owner was calling them headers until i deducted further information to find out who actually made the parts.

His car is DSG."

lol that’s a bit different. EuroCode must have been in high damage control on that one. Poor guys…sucks when mis-information gets floated

Speaking of EuroCode what happened to their superstar car driven by Mike Hood and that weird shootout they were in?

Rich, Gotcha… wonder if we heard from the same person… thinking not but… thanks for the clarification… Did you get my email the other day? Would be nice if that fell into place for dyno day:)

Saki, Yeah, I hesitated to even post the comment but just wanted to let 91 know what I heard… Unless it’s a credible forum member or they have real vids I’ll be skeptical anyway…

As for the 1/4 #'s not sure they came out yet… I’m sure they weren’t “too good” otherwise they would have said something IMO… I think maybe EC will be back with a cough… revo tune… Just a hunch…

considering EuroCode was promoting the REVO tune on that green car today, I think you’re right.

Funny shit.

Agreed… Just saw a post with Revo saying "Officially “unofficial”…

Call the boys at EuroCode in Torrance, CA."

Maybe EC is pissed that APR has had their headers for over a year now and hasn’t tested them or… won’t endorse them… I have talked to more than Arin at APR on the headers and no one will endorse them to make more power… Hmmm…

i mean its neither here nor there but i made more power over an equally equipt car on the same dyno same day and can def feel a power increase from when those pipes were stock as well as the fact that i did pull on him the few pulls we did.
ron on a side note did you get my email?

Yeah… sorry, read it the other night and forgot to reply… I’ll shoot you a reply… good stuff for sure though… lol
