Wish list of potential parts for B7 RS4

Thought we had a list going on this site but I couldn’t find it. Search fail on my part? If I f’d up we can purge this one on to the tail end of the existing one I guess.

Short and to the point - some of these may not be possible but I’ll throw them out there for discussion. Some may not make sense either - I’m no expert, just getting the ideas out there for discussion (Sorry if there are repeats from the other thread on my list)

Larger throttle body

Throttle body spacer

Cooler thermostat (btw, is it safe to add water wetter to our coolant?)

Heat shield for air box components. (In addition to using heat reflective tape etc). Something that keeps the passenger side exhaust heat away from the components.

Water/meth kit tuned for N/A motors, introduced via the I/M at each cylinder - clinging to hope of my idea that adding a fuel system cleaner to the mix [Techron for example] would help mitigate the cb buildup. It’s always nice to remove some heat if possible as well.

For those of us who may go F/I, does it make sense to use a thicker head gasket?
Cooler range spark plugs?

Any other lw parts left that make sense? LW Drive shaft?

tb - duud40 was talking about a few he found recently (z06 parts), may wanna ping him

tb spacer- always heard they were snake oil

thermostat- cabracco brought it up for the s4s a while back, the count said it could work but he may need to adjust the tune accordingly. apparently the ecu expects the engine to be at a certain high temperature (for emissions/fuel economy) and if it is not it throws a hissy fit, hopefully he can chime in with more specifics

heat shield - should be easy, make a mock up with cardboard then bend some aluminum/steel according to the template. Personally I’d do a steel plate with stick on insulation on the airbox side and heat reflective tape on the exhaust manifold side.

w/m- given the success of n/a rs4s running race gas on pump tunes it would be interesting to see if a w/m setup could provide some of the same beinefficientit

Thanks Beem.

Yes, I did read that post by Duud40 recently but couldn’t remember where.

I’ve found a lot to support that it doesn’t do squat too. Just curious if there were any benefits to be had.

Good to know - makes sense too. Would be good to hear CV’s take as well from a tune perspective.

Agreed. I’m just lazy ;D. Would much prefer if someone came up with a finished product that I could purchase for a couple of bucks.

Was thinking the same, besides the upside of the higher octane would be cool to find out if it could also help remove some heat and aid the cleaning side of things with some fuel detergent mixed in.

tb post was on qw iirc, I can link tonight if need be

if I were local to an rs4 owner I’d give them a hand doing a heat shield

for the w/m, the intake manifold runners are a constant radius right? no flat spots? I’d think tapping the im runners would work best vs a plate for cleaning

Cylinder head thicker gasket to lower compression to 10 or 10.5:1 is possible.
The top timing chain tensioner allows for it.

Be careful with the material .

If you can get me the sizes I can do the math and tell you if there is any benefit. Spacers work if you need them. Same with W/M. 99% of the time you just wasting your time on a N/A car with W/M. Most people are hoping for this to be the hidden gem of power. While in short it would take so much W/M to make an actual impact that you might as well just switch over to E85

TB: I’ll take measurements of anything needed. I’m going to assume you need ID of maf side and ID on I/M side? Actually I think the info was stated somewhere…does 90MM sound familiar. I might have just made that up entirely.

TB spacer: Probably not needed on our application I take it.

W/M - for me, the main reason for the interest is the mixing fo techron to see if will do anything for the CB. Secondary bonuses would be octane/cooling effects.
