No rnse
No window shades
No auto lights and wipers
No seat memory
I thought I’d miss the lights and wipers but I don’t. I bought the parts but haven’t bothered. I am the only driver so memory is a non issue. Bought the updated rnse.
The rear window shade is handy for summer or bright headlights following but maybe I will just get my windows Huper Optik’d instead.
Autolights - Never use it. I actually enjoy actuating the headlight dial.
Autowipers - Thought this would be silly, but I kind of like it. Except when it activates for a few drops and scrapes road grime across the windshield. That is annoying. Really annoying.
Rear sunshade - As mentioned above, it doesn’t work half the time I think about using it due to a hypersenstive temperature protection circuit. I already have tinted windows, so I don’t use it at night.
RNS-E - You already know.
Seat Memory - Gimmicky for a single driver car.
So… other than not having the features to play with, you didn’t miss much. Questions: was “coming home lights” part of the premium package?
what’s coming home lights…that thing where it lights up when you unlock? I will have to check. I think it is. My old B7 S4 had everything in it, and the coming home lights…aka premature battery killer…had its own little dial. I turned it off after a year or so when my batter died (it was a 3 year old battery). I assumed it was that 30 second thing where the lights stayed on after you parked or unlocked.
The autowipers and autoheadlights are nice. I bought the autoheadlights stuff (sensor, mirror, switch) because I was sure I would leave the headlihgts on a couple of times and kill my battery, but it actually hasn’t happened once in 3 years.
I’m at 99997 KMs right now. Should hit 100,000 when I go golfing today.
Yes - that’s coming home lights. A nice feature if you always park outside, but how many RS4 owners do that? (Ok… probably more now that they are getting older).
If you have a garage, there’s no need for the unnecessary draw on the battery. And if you don’t normally use it, you are unlikely to remember to turn the little dial when you would actually like to have the lights on…
After having swapped out complete interiors between two of my S4s all by myself with no help at all, I’d rate it at 4 out of 10. Mostly due to the fact I’m anal about everything being perfectly OEM. So I’d rather put all the wires in the same place they’d be from the factory, which is just time consuming. Also define heavy lol I know couple of people mentioned it in the past it was quite heavy, I didn’t find it to be that. I’ll weigh it for you though.
