We need a tracker on that persons posts on RS6.com…see what else they leak.

I can’t think of a crazier, more fun car than an RS6 Avant.

Wow. RS7 and RS6 special edition. Wish I had an extra $100k lying around.

Thanks for adding this. I spoke to the dealer about the rs7 very excited

As always, the Avant is dropped for the NA market.
I am starting to actually hate Audi…

And “you won’t be disappointed?” Didn’t they say the same thing for the biggest disappointment ever RS5? Heck, even the new RS4 is a disappointment in my eyes.

I won’t be buying an Audi in the next 10 years (at the very least) assuming I don’t move to another continent.

tell me what you would have rathered the RS5/RS4 were powered with.

Do so knowing this

  1. it would NEVER be the twin turbo V8 because it would NEVER fit
  2. it would NEVER be the twin turbo V8 becuase it would start a fucking fire in the 8K chassis engine bay. WAY too much heat and not enough room.
  3. it would NEVER be the twin turbo V8 because it would encroach on the performance space of the much more expensive bigger cars
  4. it would NEVER be the twin turbo V8 because their rivals will NEVER use a twin turbo V8 either (it’s competing with an NA V8 M3, NA V8 C63, NA V8 IS-F)

So…is the RS4/5 still disappointing? 0-60 MPH in 4.0 seocnds. 1/4 mile in 12.4 seconds. AWD stability. Best sounding engine I’ve heard in years. RS5 is the best looking car in the world right now.

Where is the disappointment? Would you rather a built 3.0 V6 and a TVS1900 supercharger? Great. Now your car is ‘more tunable’…but would be, in stock form, sold with the same power the Rs5 got from the 4.2 FSI. So you get to mod it to make it faster. No warranty thanks to TD1, and your car still sounds like a farty fart can little engine.

I don’t get the ‘disappointment’.

I’ve seen much higher numbers for the RS5 including 0-60 in 4.2 all the way up to 4.5 seconds and quarter miles from 12.5 all the way up to 12.8. I haven’t seen 4 seconds and 12.4 but sure, let’s assume those numbers are accurate. The fact remains that the 2011 M3 and CTS-V and C63 AMG are older cars and still totally hang with it power wise. I’m assuming the CTS-V wouldn’t be able to hang with it in the twisties but the M3 is just as capable. In other words, for a brand spanking new, top of the line RS5 model, I was expecting more, upwards to 500hp.
The RS4 is now 6+ years old and the new RS5 has what, 30 more hp on it? What do you think’s going to happen when the other makes refresh their cars? I can’t tell the future but I’m going to guess they’ll distance themselves from the RS5. Sure, the M3 is going to a TT 6 and losing the V8 but it’ll end up with more power.
I guess one could say you’ll lose the lovely V8 sound. The nice thing is that Audi isn’t playing the hp race as much  Sometimes I feel that race is getting out of hand.

As for what they could have done, don’t ask me. I’m not an Audi engineer, only a consumer hehe (yes, it’s a cop out but honestly, I wouldn’t fathom making suggestions since I have no idea what limitations the engineers face and what they can dream up and implement to overcome them.)

I’ve seen the M3 run 13.1…the ISF run 13.2…etc. We’ve all seen bad times. We’re talking about good conditions, what can the car do. Car and driver ran those times I mentioned. We’ve also seen a couple of RS5 owners post some good times for their cars as well.

The B5 RS4 made 380 hp. When the B7 RS4 was launched (5 years later) it ‘only’ made 34 more. It was hailed as a masterpiece and to this day earns boatloads of praise. So the bump was fine before…why is it no longer fine now? The M3 and C63 made HUGE bumps over their previous models but that was to play catch up with the B5/B7 RS4 which had gone thermonuclear (relatively…these are little cars). Those cars won’t be adding 60-80 hp again this time. The C63 is getting a 5.5 litre V8 naturally aspirated. The M3 is a smaller turbo motor that will probably make 440 hp and will enjoy a torque bump.

Again…people are complaining all over about the RS5 being a ‘fail’, but they really haven’t considered the FACTS! I think it should be noted that people on the BMW and Mercedes and Aston Martin etc. forums are not calling the RS5 a fail. Just the Audi guys, ironically. Because the 4.0TT is available, everyone is mad that the RS5 doesn’t have it. As I’ve mentioned, it was just never in the cards. Also, the 5.2 V10 is another Audi Corp engine. Why is nobody demanding we get that in the RS4/5? It’s just about is ridiculous.

p.s. How about a 7:59 lap time at the Nurburgring for the RS5? Is that any good? Faster than all of its rivals including the brand new C63 Performance Package Coupe, which enjoys 37 more HP and a boatload more tq. Last time I checked, that’s frigging amazing .

  1. Audi RS5 7:59.00 450 / 1686
  2. Cadillac CTS-V 7:59.32 564 / 1980
  3. Mercedes C63 AMG Coupe Performance Package 8:01.00 487 / 1771
  4. Aston Martin DBS 8:02.00 517 / 1695
  5. Aston Martin V8 Vantage 8:03.00 385 / 1636
  6. Jaguar XKR-S 8:03.00 551 / 1843
  7. BMW M3 8:05.00 420 / 1580
  8. Porsche Cayman R 8:06.00 330 / 1320

That Nurburgring time is decent indeed. I didn’t expect the DBS to be so low either (nor the CTS-V to be so high).

CTS-V is baller as fuck. I have a lot of respect for that car. Although it should be noted that it makes 100+ more HP and 200 more ftlb torque than the RS5 for perspective.

Still, it’s an excellent car all around.

Not sure you saw the CTS-V wagon on Monday at Cayuga., He ran 12.0 @ 119-120. Only mods were an intake, and semi slick rear tires on stock wheels. Pretty awesome for a 4200 lb wagon!

Stop it Saki!!! Im just about to putmy S5 up for sell and order a RS5

CTS-V are fat pigs!!!

I am not-so secretly in love with the CTS-V Wagon after seeing a feature on the Hennesey-modded one. I think it was Motortrend TV or something? In any case, I would be just fine with a stock one. That would be quite a daily driver. I would buy one used as it will depreciate like crazy, I’m sure. Problem is that there are very few wagons out there. In addition, I am not sure I could live down driving a caddy. LOL

Ya I dont see myself in a caddy either…nice car but when i look at audi’s vs all the nice american cars (just too big and inefficient) always end up where I started in my S5. Seriously considered a sprint blue TT-RS about a month ago, but I still prefer the S5.

I don’t see it that way at all. I think it’s a legitimate contender now. I think I’m in the minority though…

Lots of people, to whom I suggest the CTS-V, recoil in disgust as if I’ve suggested they blow a Thai ladyboy.

I love the CTS-V, I just hate the feel of the interiors on the caddy’s, everything feels like pure garbage compared to even a VW interior. Also all the bongs and little finishing touches it all seems so chevy Malibu!

That said I wonder where the RS6/7 will sit price wise against the E/CLS63. I would kill for a CLS63 Shooting break those things are simply gorgeous.

I look at the AMG 63’s that are fully optioned and you are seeing 120ish (with CC brakes). The only advantage of the RS models is the quattro which is of course awesome but there is something to be said about the ability to do a big smoky burnout when you pull up to the line. 8)

Yes there is soothing to be said…and that is that it can make you a lot slower than you should be if you are not careful!

We went twice…same result

13.77! that is so embarrassing in a 12.5 car. He got Saki’d !

Oh I know… Just looks cool 8)
