Like many others, my RS5 has the titanium package and I’d rather have all the chrome changed to a mix of body color and black. This includes pieces such as the mirror caps, front lip, window trim, and that skinny rear bumper piece. I’ve never wrapped something before but these pieces aren’t complicated works of art. I am worried about the color matching with wrap though. I could do paint and with Express Paint I’ve had good results on small body parts for another car. I would like to start some visual modifications on the RS5 and the chrome delete is first on the list. Has anyone here tacked this work and have any input? Much appreciated.
Hello,
I recently wrapped my S6 in satin matte dark blue. When doing so I also did window trim/chrome in 3M gloss black. It is a completely different car now… The black trim ties it all together. I left the ft euro style RS grille gloss blk as well as the roof and rear deck lid only where license plate is bolted down. Not hard to do, just need to go slow till you get feel for it. I recommend using only 3M and or Premium wrap, the cheaper types are harder to work with and much less forgiving.
Good luck
I ended up using 3M 2080 gloss black. Certain parts of the RS5 window trim don’t allow for the wrap to tuck so you have to cut it flush. Overall not hard just time consuming. Doing it outside is probably the best for lighting but if you must do it in a garage I recommend a headlamp. When looking for the crease to cut, it can get difficult gauging exactly where it is with such dark material. A headlamp will expose that crease and make cutting a breeze.
