If this thread was strictly about why in the hellllllll would you buy an AMD kit when you could purchase a JHM kit with the full backing of CV, then yes it would most definitely be… CV is the shiznit /thread. ;D
You are correct, but this debate about superchargers can somehow migrate itself into any topic out there. I got that its a forum and allowed, but in the end the owner makes the decision on which SC they want…Also, a track albeit straight or curvy decides how well the car+driver is not a dyno…I mean that is what is important anyway, right?? I could have a car that makes 1000whp, but if I drive like sh!t then that is what counts…Dennis is happy with his car, even as it gets the quirks out, ergo the world is in alignment with the moon and stars. I highly doubt JHM will leave anyone high and dry. That is ridiculous to believe a company, as large as they are in the Audi world, would be willing to assume that the of risk knowing the backlash that they are susceptible to. I would say the same about any of the large companies, not the crap ones that are currently on the brink of collapse. Sorry about the thread jack… BTW, this dyno sounds a lot like one they had in Colorado Springs that was owned by Revolutions Performance. AWD, and a lot of the Suby and Evo owners did not like to be dynoed there because of the low numbers. Many relied on the drag in Pueblo or near Denver to get good legal numbers.
marcus, I must point out the irony of you always complaining about threadjacks (jumped on me pretty hard in your shift light thread), and you even came in to this one to complain about off topic / threadjacks…then you go and do it the same lol.
For the record, nobody cares if you drive like shit and run bad times. Or any customer.
We care that the company selling the supercharger kit has shown performance testing for the product. They did…in Dan’s car 2 years ago. They went in great conditions, with a great driver and ran great times. All these variables everyone worries about…ever notice that the good companies don’t care about them? Because they don’t need excuses.
APR isn’t talking about terrrible conditions…because they’re smart enough to run the car with a great driver in great DA. So is JHM. So is TTS.
The people who whine about conditions and variables are either the people who never go to the strip, or the companies terrified to actually test their products because they know they’re pulling a fast one. Or because someone has tested their product and ran dogshit times (PES tried this to explain away Kryptonik’s disappointing results…even though he drove well in PERFECT conditions for going fast).
The good guys don’t care because they will take care of all the variables and show good delta.
Every company selling a kit has the opportunity to do the same. They’re not relying on ham-fisted customers like us to make or break the product. So to that end, they all have good drivers, they all go in good conditions, they all optimise the products and test them, and they all go to certified tracks to provide a benchmark against which we can compare stock or other modified cars. JHM did. APR did. TTS did. They all showed great results.
As for the thread, the thread is about the 034 dyno.
The thread showed that the dyno reads lower than ‘normal’.
The thread showed that Denis’ JHM1 car dyno’d low there but so did a bunch of APR tune+exhaust Rs4s…
The thread showed that Denis car, when performance tested, showed that it wasn’t living up to the record of the other half a dozen stage 1 cars that JHM have running around so while the dyno reads low, the car was also not up to snuff. Down about 30-50 HP from the looks of it. Now we know.
JHM has tested other stage 1 cars on that dyno since and they didn’t perform like Denis’ car.
Hence my apology for threadjacking. BTW, I am an awesome driver!!! I have also agreed with every comment that you made. I was simply bringing up that this somehow, as usual, mutated itself into an attack on a pretty reputable company. Also, that dynos are shit for measuring power. Maybe a good diagnostic tool as Dennis’ identified a possible issue.
Part of the AMD package appears to be talking negative about the other kits because there is no talk about the AMD kit. The small few that support AMD get easier and easier to spot.
Hello everybody! So that day that i dynoed my car at 034 i was running cats thats right!and also i had a soft tune on it,and it was making my car run more rich then it was supposed to,and that day i drove from san mateo to fremont about 30/40 miles away and the car was still very hot from the trip there when i did the dyno,I would say w the tune that i have now the car feels totally diferent i mean better!:)i will dyno again soon n hope to get 400/420 on theyre dyno! So you were on one of the early “break in” files? I remember axel commenting on how much the car changed with each tune revision. Seems like you are enjoying the car regardless!
Yep my car was the first SC rs4 in north cali after Dan’s car,if im right!and since then i prolly got 3 diferents tunes on my car and everytime got better n better!

what exhaust was on your car at the dyno and dragstrip…was it ebwerks catted exhaust for both? Or ebwerks catted exhaust for dyno and catless for dragstrip?

Your car is doing awesome. You’ve basically got the supercharger and an exhaust and would obliterate most cars out thtere. However JHM seems to think there’s a little more left in it, and they want to know if it’s your car, or your mods, or the supercharger kit setup that hold that last chunk of performance…and they’re determined to ensure that they determine what it is and if possible, that you get it. That’s excellent.
1)jhm drove my car at the drag and i think last time they tried it was 12 sec flat! I dont have timeslips!
2)i have BC forged hb 29, 19x10 all around w hankooks v12 275/30/19 tires.
3)dyno was catted and drag we did once w catted and once catless the catless was 12sec flat…
And defenetly yea my car is at JHM now, Dan is digging deep to get my car where we want to! And u r right we dont know if the mods that i have or my car or the SC that is holding up a bit the last power left, but JHM theyre good on what they do so no worries here!

You have one company trying to sell superchargers to the rs4 community that is out of business, another that won’t help it’s customers pass emissions and then JHM, that is going beyond the point of sale install and testing to assure their customer is getting the results he paid for.
