1/2 Mile Event in Ocala, Fl

I’m not sure how many members here are close to Ocala. If you are and want to see a bunch of stupid fast cars, it’s worth the drive. I’ll be there running and no my sled doesn’t qualify as stupid fast.

Data - I think you’re in Jax right?

It’s held at Jumbolair, a sweet private airstrip home to John Travolta.

Yes, I’m about 100 miles away.

Looks like a cool event, link says the registration sold out in less than 2 hours.

Can’t make it this weekend, though. Good luck!

Damn, ill let my NICETTS know about it. Hes in Lakeland.

100 miles north or south?

I will be in Fort Lauderdale in February. Goffin

The other way. (Think Sawgrass)

It sold out pretty quick - no limit for spectators though.

Looks like an Underground Racing Lambo went over 233 mph.

I was at the Rolex 24hr of Daytona with Audi Sport and Audi Club North America. My friend David was there he works for Solo Motorsports. They ran some b5 S4’s. I heard a Lambo went in the pond on Sunday.

^ There is video of it on facebook. A red one lost traction 1/2 way down the runway and went “wide right”. SPLASH!!!

oh snap. Losing traction at 125 mph can’t be fun. Just about unstoppable at that speed.

Weird that it was a lambo (gallardo?)…thought they had an R8 like version of 80/20 quattro. Was it a murcielago maybe?

is there a video? What’s the facebook group…wanna go fast? I didn’t see any videos

^ It may have been on the airport users group, or on the 1/2 mile shootout group. I was surfing through a few user groups when I saw it. POV was from the starting line, so you saw the car drive off, heard him struggling with grip, see a cloud of dust in the distance, followed by a 50 ft high splash off the right side of the runway, and the crowd yelling “OHHHHH!”

Try this…

Wow that’s rough.

Evidently, that is the same red lambo that went 233mph the day before, and is supposedly running 2000 rwhp.

that’s an Underground Racing car then I guess.

was it toasted?

A friend parked his Murcielago in a low lying parking lot at Ontario Place a couple of years back, and there was a big rainstorm. When he got back to his car it was sitting in a foot of water. Wouldn’t start.

It was written off!

He had a funny history with Murcielagos. Had a coupe in a kind of purple-violet silver. Someone from the dealership called him after the first summer and said they had a customer who wanted his exact car, and they were willing to pay a premium for it. He was about to put it in storage, and had been eyeing the roadster Murci, so he sold it and ordered a new roadster in bright yellow. The roadster was delivered to him in March, perfectly avoiding having to store it for the winter. Drove that for 2 years, and it was the one that got written off. So he bought another roadster in silver with the insurance. Pretty funny stuff.

The Blue golf R from APR (with my old engine) didn’t do so well. Lol.

I can only assume that Saxton (other customer car) lifted so Casiano wouldn’t look as bad.

IIRC the blue R ran a high of 138mph and the grey R ran a high of 149mph.

The red one was not a UGR car. It had issues all weeekend prior to ending up in the retention pond. Saturday it spun out at the end of 195mph run. The first run Sunday it seemed to have lost some rear panels - they removed them and ran again - then it ended up in the pond on its 2nd run. The UGR car that ran 233mph was a black superleggerra. He ran just before I was up.

Here is a shot in front of Travolta’s house/terminal!

I ran the grey one on my first run of the weekend, holy fuck it was fast. Apr stage 3 running a 104 file with no-lift. The blue car was running 100oct w/out no-lift. Not sure if that justifies a 10mph difference but that grey one was very impressive.
