Is there a big difference between the two? I only ask because I am going to the track this Friday and plan to run the race map. Its $70 for a 5 gallon can of 104 or $9 a gallon for 100.
Do you have a tune and switching?
No mfer, I am just going to dump race gas in my tank and run my imaginary race map in my head. Hoping for high 10s.
Fingers crossed!
lol. so much fail today. it’s hard to believe.
I suspect there is a huge difference between these two. If you want to post a hero time, get the 5 gallon can. If you want to post 12’s, go with the $9/gal pump.
skywagon it was a dumb question. RTFS.
depends if his race map is 100 OR 104.

No it doesn’t. I think you’re giving skypilot credit that he doesn’t deserve
Skypilot was asking if he was tuned first (vs. stock) …then was asking if he had program switching to select a race tune.
He wasn’t asking ‘do you have 100 and 104 maps programmed?’ (although he’ll assuredly pretend that’s what he was asking now)
and here was his reply after D.P. slammed him for asking a dumb question…
Mfer? You’ve made thirty posts and you already are resorting to name calling. Wow, such hate, such ignorance! If you have to worry about the cost of gasoline it’s obvious you’re way in over your head with a S4. Better sell it .
No mention of ‘I meant do you have a 100 or 104 race map available’ etc. Just dumbness.
So to answer your question d.p if you have a 100 map, there is no point on running 104, if you have a 104 map, yes its worth it. Think of it as the same change 91 peeps have compared to 93 octane, there is much to gain when your car doesnt knock and pull timing.

Great thanks man. I believe GIAC stage 2 is 104 map so I will go that route. Austin said 100 + E85 would work as well. 5 to 1.5 ratio.
+1 karma for any wire reference
This is crazy. Can we please get. Back to the 100 vs 104 thread. I’d like to know if the 4 octane points makes a marked improvement and why.

I think that there are other dimensions besides octane, as fuel is marketed to us. That MS109 fuel makes silly numbers on stock S4’s and turbo MB/M3.
Back on topic: in same conditions, how much difference would the 104 vs 100oct give you? Switching to the appropriate file, of course.
I’ve been on the fence about getting the 104 file from APR for some time now. With the 100oct tune, I’m stuck at pretty much 12 flat, consistently. Really want another 6MT in the 11s…
Ps: thx again for the laughs Skyfart, also looking forward to your 1/4 mile results this Sunday might even see u there. Ever think about driving to www.fayettevillemotorsportspark.com ?

The hole in the hood is a lot more tasteful than I pictured it could be. I don’t care for the low Audi rings.

GIAC race map is tuned for 104 so that’s what I am going with.
Going to try my best to get into the 11’s on Friday.

Why would you be on the fence? Just get it. Unless it costs something? is that why?
They develop these generic tunes for the entire country, and tune to the lowest common denominator. So if 93 from one region is better than 93 from another, you can bet that they’re leaving some on the table. Not drastic, but some.
100 vs. 104 is I imagine the same thing. They make a ‘race’ file…but they don’t push it with parameters designed for the best race fuel out there. They design it for the 100 you can get in California at some gas stations (which is like the 93-94 we get in some east coast places). I reckon they developed a 104 tune as a ‘custom’ tune for a few cars who were giving APR fuel and logging feedback and the logs showed there’s still room in it for their fuel.So if I lived somewhere with great fuel, I would definitely get the 104.
I got a 5 gallon pail of Sunoco 260 Gt plus which is 104 octane. Anyone know if a VP fill hose works with sunoco 5 gallon cans?

Not because of money, just really haven’t had a chance to make the drive up to Cary. So I’ve decided to go before this weekend and hopefully make some good passes to beat auditude7.0s record ;D
Pretty much just wanted to know if it’s worth making the trip to add that file. … And it is. Thx! !
