2000 Audi A6 C5 4.2L V8

The intake valve noise wouldn’t stop if you unplugged the maf. Check to see that your misfire registration is active. You should see it say enabled when looking at the misfire counter. Also try pinning open the intake flaps and then closed. Unplug the vac line and manually move them. This might be the issue as well

Misfire Counter is active as i purposely unplugged a coil and it registered a misfire and CEL started blinking along with a misfire code.

I unplugged the intake POD solenoids and nothing changed sound wise. I have also replaced the MAF. No luck.

Im going to pull the intake manifold tomorrow and inspect the flaps inside as the one pod seemed to be having a little difficulty going in and out on its own. i had to give it a budge. While Im at it I’m going to replace the vacuum lines. Some a fragile due to age.

Im Lost at what the popping could be ???

car runs great

I don’t think your going to get too many cheers for buying china knock off headers. The good thing there is that after years of trying to sell the attempted copy of the jhm headers only to f that up so bad that they never fit and the few that tested them showed they made the same as cat less dps. It seems they have actually had to change the design. They truly look like shit now. They keep making them cheaper and cheaper.

Other then that good luck. What was wrong with the motor. How did the intake manifold inspection go.

Intake was in good shape. Noting wrong i could see.

As for the headers…well I’m not going to complain. I got them for free. And the only reason I’m doing a pre dyno and after dyno is to get some real info on what gains or loss they do.

Free is about what they are worth. I’m sure your findings will back up what others have already seen.

PRE DYNO

car is stock beside a custom exhaust

Cool vid

So, the numbers were 231HP 245TQ? Seems good for a stock 4.2 plus exhaust. With the tip, you are probably losing up to 30% of the power by the time you get to the wheels. So, your numbers are pretty good.

There is only so much value that dyno results have, but at least you know that your car is making at least average or above power for your setup.

The sound at the beginning sounds a bit off. But maybe that is just me.

Now, when are you going to get a JHM tune on that car ???

Yeah numbers are what I expected. I’ll post a img of the file run when I get back home. I have been in Edmonton Canada on business so haven’t done much to car yet.

The sound at low rpm in the runs especially first one is really raspy/clanky so to say. Right now it’s catless. It’s a 2000 so no precats and all I did was do 2.5" from the down pipes back with a set of cylinder MagnaFlow race mufflers. I need to add some resonators to get it to sound better.

As per the JHM TUNE. Well I’m hoping to get it once the holidays pass and after I do the headers. Only reason is I want to do this pre headers dyno and then do headers and go so another dyno so there’s some real info on the gains or loss these headers will do. Once I do that I’m going to be doing the cams, intake manifold and head work with ooversized valves. I’m still not sure if I want to do the valves or not though.
