2013 F150 Ecoboost build...

Well I figured I’d dirty up the domestic section with some truck porn. This is my toy since the S is gone and the 3.2 Q5 isn’t really worth messing with…plus my wife would kill me. I bought the truck back in January for a smoking deal up in OH, if anyone is interested in the dealer PM me…they always have ridiculous discounts on the F150s. Now onto the truck and pics…

2013 F150 FX4 3.5l V6TT Ecoboost

Suspension: 2" drop in the rear to level it out…I know it’s a 4WD, but this thing won’t ever see the dirt.

Appearance: Color matched badges and some custom vinyl (FX4 stickers)

…not bad for a stock 6000lb truck

As soon as I sell the stock rims off I’m going to get a tune, DPs and maybe a few other small bolt-ons. Nothing crazy, but with a tune and catless DPs this truck isn’t going to be a joke. I’m pretty excited to get a little more boost.

Hope everyone enjoys…input will be greatly appreciated, especially if you have any first or second hand experience with tunes…justin…CV…cough cough. I’m currently leaning towards Livernois because they have the best 1/4mile out there…and we all know the value of 1/4 mile times if your a member of this site.

Saved for install pics, reviews, and updates.

I like it. I’ve been looking into getting a truck, but it won’t be a shiny new number like yours.

Why a V6?

You mean why a V6 twin turbo that makes 365 hp@5500 rpm, 420 lb·ft@2500 rpm?

Well Ford’s 5.0 V8 makes 360hp@5500 rpm, 380 lb-ft@4250 rpm…

I was honestly interested in the hype of the new ecoboost and I was more than impressed with the V6TT over the 5.0 when I drove it. Not to mention the modification potential. I’m not too well versed on the 5.0 internals, but I do know that the ecoboost hasn’t had it’s forged bottom end pushed anywhere close to the limits.

Nice looking truck man. I am excited to see what you make of it!

Really I was more asking why YOU chose that engine. I’ve heard great things about the EB but I’m also a N/A displacement kinda guy. That’s just my personal preference for no legitimate reason other than I like how bigger engines sound. Also, you can bolt on lots of things, but you can’t do much about displacement unless you already have it.

From what I know of EB it’s the best towing option other than maybe the 6.2L, but it’s also a bit more expensive than the 5.0L version from what I have seen.

Anyways, just wanted to hear your take on it. Thanks for the link, interesting reading.

Safe driving!

I will admit I miss a V8 growl, but response and feel of the ecoboost was just better than the 5.0. I didn’t bother driving the 6.2 because it honestly isn’t that impressive to me. I guess it could be with a supercharger or something, but everyone knows that FI motors from the factory usually respond very well to tunes and simple bolt-ons. As sad as it sounds, with $1500 I think this truck will be threatening times my B7S4 ran at the strip and will be faster than most.

I guess some people like to say there is “no replacement for displacement”…but that is rarely true when you throw FI into the mix.

You sir, have a PM.

FI definitely changes the whole deal, as does tuning, product availability and platform support. None of which I think you will have to worry about.

I didn’t mean it to sound like I thought the V6 was a bad choice.

Ya man I wasn’t trying to come off as a a-hole either, I have had many people say “oh, it’s only a V6”

There was no offense taken, I wanted the EB…so bad I sold my Silverado LTZ to get it…

Selling a silverado for a f150…I can’t believe you said that on the open forum.

hahaha

p.s. Nice ecobitch V6. Bitch

Haha, I have no Brand allegiance…I have always loved Chevys, but they aren’t impressing me right now. My F150 blows both my 07 and the present models out of the water…the only other option was for me was the Duramax, but I have no need for a 2500…nor did I want to spend $60k. It wasn’t just the engine option either with me going with the EB…the cab is huge, the bed is deeper, I feel that even the ride is better…plus I would have never gotten a loaded LTZ Z71 for the same price I paid for a loaded FX4

Thanks, I think. I take shit all the time for having a V6 truck…but people are surprised at the power it makes and how quick it is.

I woke up to an exciting voicemail this morning and will be returning a phone call this evening. As soon as the temps drop down here (1/4 mile time) we will see just bitchin’ this V6 bitch can be.

;D

Just kidding

On a utility vehicle, I couldn’t care less what the engine is, as long as it’s effective.
