4.2 C5 allroad

Didn’t see a place for these so here I post. Anybody on here own one? Looking to trade my well maintained B5 S4 for one. Wondering if I’m crazy? Kind of just looking to move on from the B5 world. I love my car but have wanted a C5 allroad and almost bought one before my imola B5 S4. While my 2.7 has been properly taken care of and worked on (by jhm), I am not naieve to believe issues couldn’t come knocking on the door at any moment. Just looking to simplify things a bit.

More specifically anyone have a jhm ecu/tcu tuned one? Would love to hear your impressions. Thanks.

probably rarer than the b7 rs4
Tough to find. Same engine as the b6/7 s4

The V8 allroads are unicorns.

Not exact same is it? Detuned or more to it? 300 vs 340 HP

I have found one localish and we are going to meet Friday. Talked my buddy into buying one last year. Said he’d sell it to me when he was tired of it but I’m not holding my breath nor wanting to wait much longer

Docs/receipts showing some major timing issues recently fixed. $7k worth! Makes my ass pucker a bit, but my B5 had about that amount of work done do it in last year as well so life of an Audi owner I guess.

It was tuned for more torque. The torque curve is a lot flatter and comes on earlier. Kind of like how the JHM tune changes the torque delivery for the S4s. I would expect a lot more horsepower if you got a tune for a V8 allroad.

Well that’s the plan. Keeping it simple with sway bar upgrade (hotchkis) and jhm ecu/tcu tune and done aside from maintenance. Oh, and exhaust i guess, but thats part of reason to move on from B5 and hassel with CA nazi smog certs. OEM cats are the most if not only way to not get effed with. I know the airide is suspect. Prepared for that. Already has had arnott front replacements.

move from the b5 to the C5= big plus.

I helped a local guy in Chicago a few years back get the jhm treatment. He has a JHM equipt C5 very impressive. You can still do most of the B6 S4 mods to it. Lots of magic out there for the 4.2 and if your close to jhm I would do it. Very fun car when you add the V8 and big body.

I am close. Its a benefit, one of few, living in the part of Cali I do.

I will miss my JHM treated B5 S4. Its a good car. Mine is anyway. Part of my hesitation is a lot of money was spent and I know shit was done right and taken care of after the fact. But, I am ready to move on I guess. Friday will be interesting for sure. Plus we still have a B5 S4 avant ;D

I’d swap the RS6r and good parts onto the B5 Avant, then sell the sedan as stock as you can.

Actually that’s a lie. I’d buy a B8 A4 Avant and a B7 RS4.

Ya. I’m just not looking to lay out any more cash unecessarilly. The avant is a tip anyway.

I really like the possibility of a heads up trade frankly. As long as both parties are happy I think its a win/win.

My cash flow is what it is. Try to avoid car payments and these are what I can afford to own outright.

Give me the unique one of a kind c5 allroad all day long over any a4 avant

I love my allroad. It’s a 6-spd 2.7T though.

Very nice ^ always thought it’d be sweet to have a 2.7 stage3 6mt allroad. Just ready to move on from the finicky engine type.

Like the simplicity of the s6 wheels. Looks good!

I like these too…also the color I’m looking at Friday. Color matched fender flares/bumpers.

yeah, widebody is awesome. I was just being honest, as that’s what I did.

Allroads are great. My wife loves them, but they’re almost exclusively 2.7T up here, and the entire platform’s reliability is for shit, so we looked at them, but bought a new B8 instead. Plus it’s hard to find one in a nice colour. They’re all frigging green here.

Not far off sizewise believe it or not (B8 Avant vs. C5 allroad). These cars are just getting WAY too big.

I got that, Saki.

“My wife loves them…” I laughed out loud

haha not sticking it at all. I love them too. We were just buying her a car in 2009 and that was on the short list. Rx400h, B8 A4 Avant, C5 allroad. The B8 won.

I was trying to explain that we almost got one, but avoided it because it was just too old and problematic to buy a 5 year old (back then) Audi for our hauler car that we drive the heck out of. Add to that the allroad’s stellar reputaiton for reliability, and you can see why we bought a B8. Although the B8 got a full engine rebuild after about 2 years so who knows. Warranty covered fortunately.

I meant I followed this as to explain what cars you owned

Stupid inter webs miscomm

Wow that will look fabulous, for sure 19s and 20s look better, and the body-color fenders is noice. You can get into ridiculous offsets with the allroad (et10 on mine). There’s a pretty hardcore FB group of allroaders, saved a couple pics, lemme look.

I’ve towed 2000 lbs of race bikes and trailer without really feeling much. Others go a little further…

For some reason I think that nogaro hacked up all road is fucking amazing! love it. want it!

It’s like a maloo or whatever it’s called from Australia…the car top gear liked over the b8 s4.

No doubt that thing is unique and looks like a lot of time/effort was put into it. My only issue would be if it were an Olympic edition, and not just painted after fact, would be a shame. Pretty rare cars. Those are the true unicorns.
