In order to chip my car with JHM tune do I have to send them my ECU or there are official dealers in Toronto area who can loaded it for me? Can I run JHM tune with OEM cats as is?
Dealers can flash it if there are any in the area. Yes you can run it with oem cats no problem. Would definitely advise you either gut the cats or get downpipes made up as bad cats will give you problems.
Don’t forget the new Ontario etest is just a readiness check via the ODB2 port. I’m sure JHM’s tuner can supply you with some goodness to get you through the etest.

It’s my understanding that if, for example, you have a catless JHM B6 S4, you should pass the above test. Unless the testers have some other way of checking for secret sauce.
Also, Is the JHM flash loader technology available for the 3.0?
How would it pass readiness if the car is catless?
The readiness test will have a fail for catalytic converters I believe… Even if it’s not tripping a cel.
But couldn’t a tuner program the ECU to fake readiness? Or have I got the wrong end of the stick?
From what I was told it can be tuned out. Which would mean as long as it’s just an obd2 test you’re fine.
Its not tuned out the tune says the readyness is set to pass all the time.
So it thinks there are CATS in place but they aren’t.
Hey MAX welcome I have an 02 as well and when I encountered this probelm I replaced my all my o2’s, I can’t remember which sensor it was I’ll have to check my repair bill but I’m pretty sure when I did the front 2 the code came back, then when I did the rear o2’s the code stayed gone. Its been 3k now and it hasn’t come back on. I was told by a tech at Audi dealer that the code can come up if the cats do not heat up in the required time after each start and i think thats like 8 minutes or something. I would repair the problem, not try to mask it or it will just cause more problems in the future. If I had to guess from what I vaugely remember its the rear o2’s that are the problem. And since it would cost about the same to buy new sensors and labor to install as it would to delete them, I would reccomend deleting them, and this would be the cheapest solution and most fun, is to pull the downpipes and gut the cats. Mail your ECU to JHM and have it tuned and the rear o2’s are coded out thus the car will still pass emissions when scanned by OB2 and visual inspection if they have it. Then you will recieve a nice bump in performance and CEL will be gone. Also since you are not having to buy rear o2’s it would be a good idea to replace the front o2’s becasue they will likely go soon when the extra flow is added because they are probably not far behind if the rears are throwing a code.
Hey Guys.
Thank you to everybody for input.
Just confirmed with a friend of mine that the Ontario’s new emission test is OBD test only.
So as long as there is no CEL light everything should be fine.
He told me that a few days ago he had 2012 5.0 mustang with straight through 3.0" exhaust and stand alone ecu and it did pass the test.
I am going to install the JHM tune in the next few days at one of the Toronto Dealers…
will keep you updated
Happy days! Good luck with the flash. Which dealer are you going to?
I have a cable for JHM flashing if you want to use it. Not sure where you are, but I’m on the west side of the city.
I called Twins Auto Works…it seems like they can do it…not sure why there is a 150$ price difference ???
they’re just charging for their time.
Thanks for the offer…i am located in Woodbridge/ Vuaghan area
So how does it works with JHM? remote access? still didnt get a final answer from them…i guess its too early…
Log in online and load up the tune.
Just finish my conversation with JHM…ECU must be sent to CA…
With regards to High Flow Cats there is an email form LaBree:
the California smog legal high flow cats are the only ones
which will not cause a check engine light, and they will produce
a gain of 8-10 horsepower over stock. They are direct bolt on.
The price is $1,100 plus shipping
I guess,I will be waiting for JHM to release their downpipes
No big deal sending it - I sent mine on a Saturday and had it back in the car by Weds. If I could’ve gone to fedex on the Monday, I still would’ve had it back on the Weds.
Its been a long wait for DP’s from JHM.
Maybe 2 Years or more now.
If You can wait on them?
JHM wants to test them fully to get maximum HP from them.
Plus I think their making adjustments to their tune to get more out of it also.
I far as the 02 sensors go. I replaced my CATS and 3 of the 4 sensors failed the first time I drove my car.
I replaced all 4 with ones from JHM.
