700hp RS4 on APR TVS 1740 in South Africa?????

Ok ok dont shoot the messenger but this kills me…
Ran an 11.86s 1/4 and says…700hp

haha the usual with the crank hp dyno numbers

they take a car that exhibits XXX whp on the dyno stock. Say it was 295 whp as the car had some carbon problems and a vac leak.
then they deduce the drivetrain loss from stock 420 to produce 295 whp aka 30%.
then they dyno it with a supercharger, in whp. The RS4 + 1740 should be good for 500 whp.
then they apply the previously deduced 30% drivetrain loss from when the car was stock and apply it when the car is supercharged. AKA 700 crank hp.

OR

they have a dyno that automatically calculates rundown, which is also bullshit because it’s really determined by a load of operator input parameters.

So at the end of the day, reality is the 1740 makes around 500 whp on the B7 RS4 on pump gas, which is about 600 crank hp or ps.

That 1/4 mile was in south africa and to be honest, that means it’s probably at altitude. They have like 2 tracks (none of which are NHRA/IHRA certified) and they are at 4000-5000 feet, so times/traps are always density altitude impaired. As we have seen at normal altitudes nearer sea level, the RS4 + 1740 is capable of very low 11s @ 125 mph. APR themselves went 11.1 @ 125. One of their customers went 11.2 or 11.3.

100% altitude tracks and no certification…and all the talk about world records etc
I have seen this RS4 banging about a few times, in rough condition and with a loud but 2.50" exhaust set up and standard clutch that has been done multiple time along with the gear box. Makes me worried that locally the APR agent is simply selling the solution of more power without helping the over all package

is it yellow?

yeah, there was one that ran on the straightaway of a race track once a few years ago and were crowing about records lol.

this was a funny quote. Someone needs to show them our list lol
The Monsta finally did it. 11,86. On Street tires with pump fuel and street map. This made it the fastest B7 RS4 in the Southern Hemisphere. Next up. World record. 11,2
The JHM blue car went 10.7 on race fuel and street tires, full interior. The grey JHM car went 11.1 on street tires and pump gas. APR’s test car went 11.0 on race fuel and street tires. Flying Shitberg went 11.2 as well. So I’m not sure what record book he’s reading but a quick look at our list might help him.

It’s black with a APR wrap! The yellow one was parted out and sold, owner now has a V10 R8 with APR tune and quick silver exhaust and recons 560hp

Sounds like the southern hemisphere needs to be updated on what’s going on in the rest of the world.

that sounds right. The yellow one had an owner who was pretty down to earth. Aka not head-in-the-clouds like this one lol.

Soooooo…I guess this answers all of the questions about the Supercharger kits out there…If they run an 11.86 or better…they MUST have AT LEAST 700HP!!! Fuckin amazing!!!

There’s was a 1740 kit put on a car I know and removed rather swiftly due to it suffering horrendous heat soak. This was in the uk btw :+1:. Dyno’s don’t mean F all but it made around 600ps and 750nms then that dramatically fell after 3 runs they didn’t run it again. Owner removed it shortly after I think he’s waiting for jhm now. The car previously had a pes and tts kit installed. I just bought another b7 I might play about with it

Holy shit are you serious?

He removed the kit based on dyno performance?

Hopefully he got a full refund.

What colour is the B7 you bought?

Interesting. I’d love to hear more information if you have it. Possibly ask the owner to consider sharing his story?

Owners not interested in forums but I know the story because I was offered the kit :+1:! Don’t think it was purely dyno saki tbh there’s more to it. Sprint blue but there’s a twist… It’s a cabriolet

I replied in the forum saying 700??? That’s the most powerful one in the world! He is ignoring me now, but yeah he is a bit odd! Like the poms, there is a huge dyno focus here in SA, but just doing a few mods myself it’s the bum dyno on the road that counts

As someone considering the APR kit I’d love to hear more if you’d be willing to share.

Excessive heat soak can easily be attributed to air in the cooling circuit. This can be exacerbated on the dyno without proper airflow. I find it odd I haven’t heard of a customer in the UK getting a charger and then removing it right away, especially given the price of the product. I’ll be looking into this a little more closely.

Well, I did a little research. Sales is in contact with all of our Europe/UK customers and none of them have removed the charger. There is one customer who tried to grey market import the unit into the UK. It’s the only one that hasn’t had the software flashed yet.

Black avant :+1: owner isn’t brittish

That’s fine. We still know all of the kits in Europe and the UK. All kits purchased correctly in their country of origin are flashed and still running the kit today without issues. No one has removed it. The only kit imported into Europe or the UK through Grey Market methods was not flashed with our software.

Point being, I don’t think we really have a problem on our end…

Weird story developing here. Why would you go grey market? Surely it can’t be any cheaper once shipping and taxes are said and done?
