Your 60’ isn’t all that bad. I mean you left 2 tenths on the table on the launch alone, but not a disastrous 2.1 or something. Having a big single turbo that doesn’t really get into boost till 5000 RPM can be part of the problem. Nitrous in 1st gear for you? Where’s it hitting? How’d you launch the car (technique)?
Your 330’ is horrendous. Basically that puts you on pace to run 12.5-12.6! At the 330’ mark you should be going about 70 MPH or thereabouts. That means either your 1-2 shift was horrendous, or your tuning needs some work around the throttle etc.
Your 1/8 mile has you on pace to run 12.3…so again, you’ve really burned the bridge in the first half.
The car ran nice and quick in the second half, and trapped reasonably well at 132 MPH. Did you need to shift into 4th or are you pushing big RPMs? Most people will fawn over your MPH and cheer, but let’s look at the way you accomplished it. You’re running 35 PSI on a very big turbo, are tuned for E85, AND have a shot of nitrous. Do I have that right? You should be trapping much better than that if we’re going to be realistic. I would have thought with .8 to .9 G of longitudinal acceleration, and a 1.95 3rd gear 4200-6500 time (that’s almost 1300 RPMs per second…staggering) that you’d be trapping 140+ MPH. Since you’re not, something is not right, and without a video to see if you coasted for 1.0 seconds on each shift, it’s tough to say exactly what.
So lots of work to do, and likely some of it is in the driving, but I wouldn’t overlook tuning as a culprit. I see lots of guys who focus on FATS times or single gear aceleraation tests like the dyno who overlook some of the driving dynamics of changing from one gear, to neutral, to the next gear in the tuning and post less than stellar 1/4 mile results. They usually blame their driving or say the quarter mile isn’t a good test because they make too much power. Reminscent of the Supra guys who are setup to look great on the dyno.
Anyway, good to see you’re testing the car in various fashions (pulls, dyno, logging, 1/4 mile). This is what you need to do to expose all the warts on a build and hack them off to make it truly special!
