8URV8, NOTORIOUS VR & Monty23... I have a $50 wager for the three of you.

This was 93 pump +w/m. I am still on my w/m base tune though cause BT didn’t have time to send me a revision. Running 10.8-11.1 AFRs. Hopefully I can get my leak fixed and BT can get my meth tune dialed in before this weekend!

Some other notes, I ran with the car seat in the back  I had about 1/4 tank of gas. And the last 2 runs (none of which from the slips above) I put in 3 gals on 103 oct, but I had a pretty bad exhaust leak by then, so that was a waste lol.

Cool. Thanks monty

23? Jordan fan

Also monty, can you give some more information?

  1. tune?
  2. octane?
  3. meth etc?
  4. downpipes/catback?
  5. other LW mods?
  6. intercoolers?
  7. what exact turbo is it?

Thanks

edit you answered the octane/meth and tuner stuff. Just need the hardware questions

  1. tune? - BT
  2. octane? - 93 pump
  3. meth etc? - AEM W/M, 865cc@150psi
  4. downpipes/catback? 3.5" turboback, no cat
  5. other LW mods? - no spare tire/jack, meth tank in place of 6 disk CD changer
  6. intercooler? - 600hp precision FMIC
  7. what exact turbo is it? - PTE 5858 ball bearing.

that’s an 034 turbo kit, isn’t it?

what do you think I should call the ‘power adder’?

stock = K03
RS4K04 = K04
RS6 K04 = RS6

I was thinking ‘034 STK PTE5858 but that seems busy’

Need some way to be clear that it’s the 034 kit

also is there a full modlist for you somewhere? Is it in your signature on AZ?

Damnit I was just adding you to the list and accidentally closed the window.

Great stuff Monty. Can’t wait to see the final result of your hard work. Trapping 120 is seriously quick.

Found my leak:

duct tape it. Ghetto style

I just JB welded it… :o

034 is sending me a new up pipe. Hopefully I get it before it gets hot out…

Glad 034 is taking care of you. What do you think was the issue?

Deffinitly glod tk hear… I dont know why you would wamt to fix that tho… its a vent to atmosphdre break…adds to the cool noise factor.

Nothing crazy at the track but it is on pase with what the 034 guy ran so not too bad.

My first time at the track with my S4 last night… I need a lot more seat time and practice with the car.
I’m the left lane:

As expected, car is moving at the end. Nice!

Your 60’ isn’t all that bad. I mean you left 2 tenths on the table on the launch alone, but not a disastrous 2.1 or something. Having a big single turbo that doesn’t really get into boost till 5000 RPM can be part of the problem. Nitrous in 1st gear for you? Where’s it hitting? How’d you launch the car (technique)?

Your 330’ is horrendous. Basically that puts you on pace to run 12.5-12.6! At the 330’ mark you should be going about 70 MPH or thereabouts. That means either your 1-2 shift was horrendous, or your tuning needs some work around the throttle etc.

Your 1/8 mile has you on pace to run 12.3…so again, you’ve really burned the bridge in the first half.

The car ran nice and quick in the second half, and trapped reasonably well at 132 MPH. Did you need to shift into 4th or are you pushing big RPMs? Most people will fawn over your MPH and cheer, but let’s look at the way you accomplished it. You’re running 35 PSI on a very big turbo, are tuned for E85, AND have a shot of nitrous. Do I have that right? You should be trapping much better than that if we’re going to be realistic. I would have thought with .8 to .9 G of longitudinal acceleration, and a 1.95 3rd gear 4200-6500 time (that’s almost 1300 RPMs per second…staggering) that you’d be trapping 140+ MPH. Since you’re not, something is not right, and without a video to see if you coasted for 1.0 seconds on each shift, it’s tough to say exactly what.

So lots of work to do, and likely some of it is in the driving, but I wouldn’t overlook tuning as a culprit. I see lots of guys who focus on FATS times or single gear aceleraation tests like the dyno who overlook some of the driving dynamics of changing from one gear, to neutral, to the next gear in the tuning and post less than stellar 1/4 mile results. They usually blame their driving or say the quarter mile isn’t a good test because they make too much power. Reminscent of the Supra guys who are setup to look great on the dyno.

Anyway, good to see you’re testing the car in various fashions (pulls, dyno, logging, 1/4 mile). This is what you need to do to expose all the warts on a build and hack them off to make it truly special!

No nitrous used on the runs. I tried it on one run and screwed it all up lol.
Wasn’t launching hard as I’m not used to the new twin disc yet and the wife and kids made the 2.5hr drive with me and didn’t want to break anything lol.

I need a lot of practice for sure.
Boost was about 33psi from the logs.

Shifting needs a lot of improvement. my 1-2 shift took like a second with 1.5 seconds between the boost building back up.

I’ll post video and more data from the run later.
Its also only the 3rd revision of E85 tune so isn’t really that dialed in yet.
Lots more left in it for sure!

OK, very different story. If that’s where you’re at, trap speeds look good.

Get some video!
