91gl's Ntrous'd R32

Hey guys, ive owned my R since November but have only recently begun to modify it. My intentions were to keep it stock and enjoy the car as a solid daily but a track visit a month ago yielding better than expected results made me put my personal touches onto this car.

First run with the car bone stock got me into the 13s which surprised me. At that point I figured I had a strong running car and could really build upon this.

First things first, I did a simple dog bone mount insert from ECS to help with shifting and drivetrain movement on launch. Lightweight components were next. I had an ETS 10lb Lightweight Battery Kit from a friends Evo VIII that he never used and mounted it in the rear. Stock battery is over 50lbs and the difference was immediately felt. So the lightweight theme continued…next up was a Bride Zeta III seat to remove the heavy driver seat.

Knowing i was planning on running nitrous and a large shot, I had to free up the exhaust. USP Motorsports catless downpipes were modified to merge into a single 3.5" aluminum catback that turns down right before the rear diff. System is featherlight compared to the stock system. Gained plenty up top which was fine with me especially with the nitrous i was planning on running.

Lightweight wheels were next along with ECS lightweight brake rotors but 17x9 et45 Enkei RPF1’s just would not clear my stock brakes so I had to go smaller. Was planning on downsizing to GTI brakes but they do not offer lightweight rotors for the GTI’s at a reasonable price so I had to get drastic. Picked up a set of Wilwood Racelight 6 Piston 327mm front brakes. This made a drastic difference and are about half the weight of the stock two piston setup which is similar to stock b6/7 s4 brakes.

Yesterday was Spring Show and Go at Englishtown and with the nitrous dialed in perfectly at 100 shot, I was able to get 11 passes in with the car running absolutely flawless. Setup is stock ecu/dsg tune with NGK DCPR8E plugs gapped to .030 on pump gas. AFE Intake with a single fogger nozzle tapped into it. Nitrous pill is .052 and fuel is at .030.

Best time from yesterday:

Going to push the stock setup/single nozzle as far as I can go before doing a short runner/direct port setup along with a built motor. Next though is working with JHM regarding a tune for engine/dsg, Fluidampr crank pulley, lightweight rear rotors, some carbon parts and so on to decrease weight. My goal is a 10 sec 1/4 by the end of the year and also go deep into the 11s by Waterfest.

Right on! Thats movin

Very cool 91, awesome results. It’ll be cool to see it continue to progress. How long did you have the b8 s4 before you jumped ship?

Nice! That’s quite an improvement at the track. What DSG tune are you currently running?

He noted that he is currently stock DSG and engine tune.

^^ doh. misread the initial post. thnx

dumped the b8 last april. was a beautiful car but not worth the money people spend to mod it. so far im 3k in total on a 15k car and im running low 12’s…not a bad deal lol

haha, thats tough to argue with. Glad you’re enjoying it though, that’s what it’s all about really.

BTW, those front tires look meaty as hell on those enkies! Also, I can’t believe this is all on stock tune, I’m sure some new software alone would take you a decent bit deeper, but your 60’ times are already pretty good considering the limited mods.

badass, you bringing it to waterfest?

thank you…might have something coming for it though. ill keep you all posted.

hell yes…gonna shock the shit out of some people.

even though there werent that many people, got mad love at show and go yesterday

nice, I was considering heading down again this year

Damn, waterfest may be on my calendar considering how close it will be!

255/40/18 Dunlop ZII’s bought off some stance kid for $200 bucks because they rubbed too much on his setup lol. basically brand new tires for the price of one lol. they hook like hell. spraying out the whole not so much as a squeak. they just take off perfectly. really nice tires

We’ve seen so any 2.0t gti performance threads it’s nice to see a R32 thread. Those are impressive results for such easy mods.

The general performance route for these is usually an expensive single turbo kit. This is a very cool alternative. It must sound amazing, I love the vr6 with a good exhaust.

this first result when bone stock is pretty solid. Looks like around 260 hp there. That accurate?

250

dyno’d it at 217 on our mustang dyno bone stock literally as soon as I picked it up.

Excuse my ignorance here but is the r32 awd?
