Aluthman's Intro and Build thread

Very nice! 102 is a pretty solid trap speed for home brew. The cool thing is you tuned it yourself! But like me, you need to work on your launches lol.

Any plans to revisit the tune or are you happy with the performance?

My driving needs way more work than the tune. I was able to knock .5 sec off my ET in 5 passes. If I get more practice in, I think I can shave off a bit more. I may see if more timing can be added though.

What track? What da?

New England Dragway in Epping, NH. dA was like 200 ft IIRC.

oh man you should be really happy with that. And you were thinking of letting someone else tune your car for a second. What a waste that would have been. I think whats great about the growing collection of you 2.0 guys is that you know when to say when and you are honest in what you can and can’t do. You stuck with it and you beat the other ko4 times (I think thats what your turbo is) by a lot of mph. Keep at it.

I think one of the things that you guys should really lean on over here is supporting each other and using the safe retirement on this site to help grow and talk in the open without fear of being hammered by trolls.

You and mec have done a great job of showing how something is capable if your honest and humble. Every platform that has fallen has been from others buying into the idea that cheap parts and work are the same as real solid parts and work. They are not and your showing hard work pays off.

I may give the tune a little more love and try to go back before they close for the season (Oct. 31). I think I can get a few tenths better ET anyhow. I’m going to try adding a hair more timing, and raise my rev limiter to 7500 rpm to avoid having to shift to 4th right before the traps.

seriously great idea. I think what you guys should really do is establish a formula. The 2.0 community has been so torn apart. you have shops just come in push some parts out there and then a few random guys here and there running this part with that part or this tune with that and none of them have been successful. It’s time to break the mold and start talking about what works and what won’t.

Now we’re cooking with fire! (Ignore the messy garage)

Fantastic results. Any more plans on going before the end of the season?

I would like to make one more trip there if possible. I pnly have until the end of the month though and it’s 2.5 hrs away, so it burns up an entire evening.

Awesome too see that the kor is finally being tested man. Great numbers.

I’m also seriously considering the removal of my HFC so I can use launch control in Maestro.

What happens if you use it with the hfc

I melt the ceramic matrix inside the cat most likely.

how? are you running leaded race gas and running a terrible tune?

leaded race gas actually burns cooler. but no he is just running 91 or 93. What the launch control feature does is pull back timing and fuel hard to get the turbine to spin, so you are generating a lot of heat, If you sat there for a sufficient amount of time I could see it melting the cat, but I bet he could use it just fine as long as he does it quickly.

I’m pretty sure most anti lag systems require a catless exhaust just as a safety precaution.

leaded race gas kills cats and o2 sensors

I assumed you were talking about heat since he never mentioned leaded fuel.

Smart move on thinking about removing the hfc anything that contributes to putting raw fuel in the exhaust will destroy that cat. Even the high quality ceramic oem cats don’t hold up too long if you get fuel in them.
