AMS Diving Into the Audi Aftermarket - Can't Wait

ive owned the car for three months and ive taken it one time (other things in life were a bit more important such as moving, my pregnant wife, and a promotion)

now that things are settled down and the track is 30 minutes away i do plan on going quite a bit come spring time.

past history ran 11.5 in my evo, 12.0 in my sti , and 10.8’s in my old 500whp civic.

It’s funny, but nobody you’re talking to is up anyone’s ass. I was actually banned from Audizine for destroying APR’s reputation in teh RS4 section after they completely lied to the forum and I called them out for it numerous times until they finally tapped out.

I have asked you to prove what you’re saying

  1. why would you buy EPL? Because AMS told you to ? AMS has said they hired EPL because they don’t have time to tune the Audis. In other words? They want to cash in on the low hanging fruit (B8 S4 owners who are willing to pay $1500 for a tune and $500 for a pulley) but they don’t want to waste time away from their $40,000-80,000 forced induction kits for supercars.

  2. what…on the B8 S4…requires custom tuning? AMS if you haven’t noticed is working on tune/pulley/catback/cooling. That’s it. There’s no fucking custom tuning needed there. This is not your EVO ECU. The capabilities of the Siemens and Bosch Audi ECUs are light years from the rice shit you’re used to. A good tuner can build in parameters to take advantage of, and protect the engine from the absence of, a wide variety of bolt ons. Custom tuning is for fools at this level.

I have asked you to justify your claims, and from the looks of it, you can’t so your recourse is to label me a hater, label me ‘up APR’s ass’ and label the forum a joke.

Even E85…why do you need custom tuning for E85? GIAC already has an E85 tune. Why must it be tailored to your ‘x pipe’ lol. Its fucking E85. If they write an E85 file with parameters for a known fuel, why must it be customised for your basic boltons? Does your wicked ricer spoiler and shoddy bodykit necessitate it?

As for meth, sure if you want to tune around meth. There’s a member here that runs a race gas file with 94+meth. He might beit from a file written for meth as a fuel source, but again, you were running your mouth about how there’s so much more on the table in custom tuning vs OTS tuning. You’ve still not shown that. Are you saying your whole premise that custom is better is when you’re talking about a different fuel source? This is why program switching exists. GIAC and APR offer that for the B8 S4 already. Flash loaders and pre-loaded multiple files. Why is this any different?

This is something that gets confused when people come from different platforms is the adaptability of these ECU’s. You don’t need to write super specific files like you would with other vehicles. Unless you are a poor tuner as was mentioned.

I didn’t see them say custom tuning. And I still don’t think they ever clarified that they were using EPL for anything more than their ability to remote flash. I’m assuming AMS does their own tuning. Maybe they will use a base file from EPL or something.

I said you can calibrate the ECU to take advantage of parts, and to hold the car back and protect it in the absence of those parts. The ECU is very elastic. Again, I realise you are completely out to lunch on these cars, and your history of ricer shitboxes shows that, but just take my word for it.

There are 5 tuners from various Audi companies who post on this site, and they would be happy to confirm what I’m talking about.

ask them if the car can change cam timing on its own ? or is it locked into the files on the tune based upon whatever the software develop made.

but they can not change the cam timing through closed loop, cam timing has maps that are set in stone and correlate to load/rpm

One or 2 local guys have claimed to have the file (including the scamartist that used to work at Drive) but no one has run the file or done any sort of testing and posted up. Not saying APR and GIAC are the shit but they have cars in the mid 11’s with just bolt ons. Say what you want about Prime but there are other with the same and more in mods who aren’t near his times. If you think he is new to this game he is not.

Exactly. I would expect them to take EPL’s file and tweak/fix it. Similar things have been done in the past with great results. IE a 12 second car turning into an 11 second car with a retune :stuck_out_tongue: Hopefully they don’t just attach their name to it and call it a day.

AMS isn’t main streem Audi…they dont know the beand as well as some of the other established comoanys…will there past garantee them success In the audi market…no…

Is AMS partning up with EPL lowering our excitement for AMS yes…to many it shows just how little they know about the audi market and the players in it…

If AMS said they were partners with GIAC…or a real established brand…we would have all shit ourselves with excitment APR included…

Is apr always the fastest no…its hard to say in most cases there not the best…is AMS the fastest…not at everything but there also not the best at everything either…

This custom tune garbage…the fastest guys at the track have been pioneers in all parts…this is just more testing.
