I’m sure if we looked at 60ft’s etc it would tell us more. The Switzer had a lot more trap than the AMS car. I have no idea if the two vids linked are the most recent. All I know is these cars move.
AMS has the best 1 mile ET and Switzer has the best Trap speed. Whats crazy is switzer is using the original 3.8L GTR engine and heads to produce 1600-1700whp…
I wouldn’t exactly say it qualifies as ‘beating up on’ when the other car traps 5-10 mph more.
Think of a fight in the ring. Fighter A is bigger and far more powerful. Fighter B is a flyweight but is more agile. Fighter B lands a couple of early blows, dancing around…until Fighter B knocks his head off.
Fortunately in the quarter mile the bell rings before power really gets to shine. But I don’t consider it ‘beating up on’ to nick someone on ET when they’re coming like a freight train.
Still, the M5 drivers must have sucked. We’ve seen them run high 11s @ 122-125 a bunch of times. Rynurz went with great DA a while back. I think as is usually the case, the BM driver just wasn’t that sharp.
I crushed a C63 one day at the strip 2 passes in a row . Beat him by 8+ car lengths. The next time I lined up with a C63 a few months later, he beat me by 2 car lengths. I wouldn’t say my car beats up on C63s…but I would say that first C63 driver didn’t really get the job done.
That’s what I originally had thought and stated in a previous post in this thread.(AMS having the best ET in the mile and half mile I believe - Jury is the car owner) The ET’s I mention above are from the two links that are in this thread.
Have you seen the Alpha 16+ package description on their site yet? It’s comical. When is enough power…enough?
You’re reading into what I wrote way too much… I meant it’s amazing that a lightly modified S4 can beat a brand new M5 down the 1/4 mile.
It’s just like the time I ran J’s Dad’s F430 on pump gas and beat it. Once the race ended and we parked no was was like “you won but… he trapped 5-7mph more than you did!”. They said “I thought for sure you would lose but I’m amazed that you won! What did you do to the car?” lol!
I didn’t read anything into what you wrote. Because you didn’t write that the S4 was beating up on a new M5. Rynurz did. If you look at the post you quoted, I didn’t quote you.
As for the Ferrari, you beat it from 0-100 feet, and then got your ass kicked the rest of the track. If the track was 100 feet longer you would have lost et too.
Knowing this as you do, you don’t go around saying you were ‘beating up on Ferraris’. Or did you?
I still think at these power levels though traction is a huge factor in 1/4 ET. Obviously, not so much for the quattros but definitely the two wheel drive guys (like me ???). I guess that’s just one of the benefits of Audi awd… ;D
Yeah, traction is an issue at 300 hp. Nevermind at 500.
The JHM stage 1 supercharged RS4 I drove on the weekend was amazing. I could chirp second and third gear on pavement in the sun when accelerating. Then I drove the stage 2+ JHM RS4 that had to be making 700 hp. Maybe more. It was really staggering. The swell of power was nuts. All of it was managed by quattro though. It can trap 130+ and also go 0-60 in a blink. Having both of those at your disposal makes for amazing ET.
I bet it felt amazing! When I was going for a ride in a 680+hp M3 the surge in power was outstanding!!! When he hit the gas the car squatted and his rear diffuser kept hitting the ground! Insane!!!
With the type of power the JHM blower is providing I think your beginning to approach the limitation point for traction with the RS4… More power and you’re going to look for ways to improve traction… Your best bet would be new tires, R888 perhaps…
The R888 seems to be the tire of choice for all of the higher power GTR guys. I have found that PSS is more than capable for my 997 which is in the mid 500whp range.
Yeah, once you start putting semi slicks (r888) or slicks (like APR did) I think we’re getting away from the point here. I mean why are we buying 4 door family sedans and putting tires on that make it a racecar that can’t go in the rain?
Running slicks is like running race gas in that you showing the potential of the vehicle. And since I won’t run either of them every day, they are relatively meaningless to me. I want to know what power my car makes with whatever fuel and rubber I run every day which is 93 and PSS in the warmer months. If E85 can prove to be fruitful, then I will adjust my stance on other tunes as I can go to a number of pumps and just fill up on that if it puts out decent numbers.
Lucky for me they are in my back yard and bought one of those cars from my dealer (Hoffman estates audi) which I have a great relationship with (owner has an alpha 7 GTR and stasis friendly dealership). Anyways they have a 2012 s4, so I offered them mine for any testing or comparison in the 13 (selfishly hoping they accept and I get free parts - heater exchange, etc). I am going to swing by there soon to see what I can dig up.
