Sorry, but your response is even more shitty and misguided.
Your personal interaction and experience on a forum is not indicative of the typical owner, or even modder. The truth is you cannot prove or disprove your hypothesis that forum banter is more honest/helpful/trusting/friendly than a shopping site. Higher standard? Are you serious?
You chide eurocode for their false statements about gas mileage, but you partake in the same fallacy.
Policing the Internet one post at a time is a silly concept, and that is nothing personal.
On a sidenote, what is this karma thing on the side of our profiles?
Every day I see it going up and down like a penny stock.
Not sure how challenging someone’s opinion is “bad karma,” especially considering the amount of shit some of the regulars give out around here. Double standard going on…just sayin.
This just isn’t a site for bullshitters, because they will be called on it. Some people stick around, some people can’t take it.
The karma system is to avoid ridiculous moderation and to basically let the members decide who leaves and who stays. You can’t give anyone more than +1 or -1 karma in 24 hours and if the same person logs on to give you neg karma once a day it really means nothing. On the other hand if guys troll every thread and the masses can’t stand them, well then their karma can take a pretty drastic swing…as we’ve seen in the past. Paper didn’t have a very good start, but it was self inflicted and I think he has come around to this forum. I think he is a decent dude now and I hope to see him run his car as soon as that clutch is ready.
(1) You’re seriously comparing car forum posts about mods to amazon customer reviews? As Sak said, these forums are basically a community of enthusiasts. We know each other and can (and do) seek out bullshitters. When people fail to disclose their conflicts of interest in peddling a product, it generally gets brought to light. See, e.g., “it guy.” Is that something you find on amazon? Of course not. So, by definition, you are committing type 1 error here.
(2) “Partake in the same fallacy”? Care to elaborate?
(3) Who is policing the Internet? We’re a bunch of Audi enthusiasts trying to get facts and good data. Again, what is your problem with this?
well, or not very well, armed - I’m still trying to identify your beef with full disclosure. What is your thesis? Enlighten us, please.
I understand that this forum tries to transcend the bullshit. That is why I am here.
But some members need to remember that the goal is to attract a diverse and engaging population, not belittle and peck at from a podium. We learn from people that are different from ourselves, and that needs to be remembered.
That is why I appear to be defending Paper and his supposed conflict of interest. His communication is not crystal clear, but its 100% real. From the outside, it looks like a feeding frenzy of criticism. This is not how you grow the community and learn.
Remember, its just my $0.02. And Internet is serious business.
Long time lurker, learning a lot from this forum, just wondering if this is basically the same thing minus the incredibly efficient high flowing ec filter?
well(or not)armed - I have to follow up on this. You can’t make these generalities without providing specifics. WHO is doing this? Examples, please.
His conflict of interest is most definitely NOT “supposed.” It is as clear as the light of day. Can’t you see that?? And I think for the most part he’s been transparent about that. Cool - but it took this forum to drag that out…
I knew of Paper’s involvement irrespective of this forum, so there was no “drag it out” that I see. Its pretty well known that he and David are Gay lovers
In all seriousness, in my book his involvement is no worse or influencing than Deion Sander’s relationship with APR. He has communicated his special treatment here, but for some reason we give him a pass or treat him differently than paper.
And my post count might be 8Xwhatever the fuck it is, but I only joined a few weeks ago when I found my name being tarnished in a google search. I am pretty new to this whole scene, and I am starting to become unimpressed with the high horse bullshit.
Saki is on an internet crusade to expose all the schemers while lacing his posts with lots of thought out and backed up information while praising the Audi V8 as much as possible.
Primetime is a crazy dragstrip racer who really seems to care about everyone, but hates overpriced parts with little to no performance gain.
JSpazz is a really smart enthusiast who has a lot of project cars and likes to pick at Saki and and challenge his assertions.
Skidrowe is a new enthusiast who sometimes jumps on threads too late when his slow mind finally catches up with the theme of the thread.
Well_armed came into the B8 section and started making fun of everyone because he’s aware that the internet is serious business and irony and sarcasm are the only way to participate.
Paperish is a street racer who doesn’t give a fuck about what you think, but wants to share all his accomplishments and new parts because we all love these cars and what they can do.
I’m still working on my pigeon-hole comments and impressions for the rest of you. Back to lurking.
This intake is overpriced just like the rest of them. If stage II is an open element version, I’ll be interest in its performance.
I need to stop drinking now so I can go to work in the morning.
