Sak - thnx for the info. It’s great to see the RS4 running such an awesome time - sans drag radials lol.
We’ll have to see how the EPL tune performs on the B8. Doesn’t seem like the guy on AZ is going to make it to the track anytime soon - his explanation is a little bizzare, but I chose not to even follow up. Hopefully EPL posts some times when they offiically release the tune.
happy - i think there was just some confusion given that epl is being tossed around here in two different contexts. my question to sak was in regards to the AMD RS4 car.
Clochner - I agree. Simple internet miscommunication.
I just find it interesting to find out of epl and um partnership so to speak. EPL for better or worse has been around a long time and this is the first I have heard about them being a different tuning company dealer.
I think a lot of companies needs proper lessons on how to do product releases…
Funny how people hate on APR for teasing them months ahead of release, but it’s just that - info is largely released before the actual release, and once it’s released, a wealth of info is provided.
Rather than random forum member (pseudo compensated or otherwise) creates thread “ooh new tune from company XYZ and it is awesome” and provides no supporting data - or worse still, someone who teases that their car is being used for development, gets it back and stays tight lipped (and company decides not to release it to the trashy community).
Well the thread is about epl tuning and a b8 owner mentioned epl tuning amd b5 cars with no success at the strip, then a b7 owner showed the b8 owner that amd has given up on epl on their b7 kit then a b5 owner complained.
The only thing I find remotely interesting or intriguing about all this is that epl is a dealer of um tunes…surprised me is all. No complaints here. Carry on.
Fair enough. Now your turn to try and keep up. I was not complaining, rather pointing out that epl (soon to be tuning B 8 ) is a um dealer. The question I raised about the b8 tuning from epl or um was only in the context of will the b8 tune in fact be an epl or um tune?
Your response as to its in the video did nothing to answer the question of who will actually be providing the b8 tune as clearly you were pointing to the b7 video.
My interjection in the string of responses was poor timing. Nothing more.
UM > epl? Until today and even after, how many would come to that conclusion? Just based on name recognition. I guess I am slow on the uptake, because I did not know of um until seeing these results.
Try a little harder to prove you are correct and I am wrong about my intentions. I don’t deny posting that as once again and already explained, my question / observation that you answered with its in the video was specifically intended to be in reference to the thread topic as related to b8 tuning options, and not the sidebar that started about amd going with um over epl for their b7 sc kit. Again, like already explained, it was poor timing in the conversation on my part. Nothing more.
Also in your explanation of lots of smaller companies are dealers of other ones, jhm is to epl as um is to apr? Really?
I can buy jhm to epl purely based on name recognition and maybe number of tuned cars out there (no comment being made as to the way they go about things). Simple volume of sales. But, I would venture to guess APR and UM are not even in the same conversation with regard to sales volume and development.
Lol easy bud. You’re trying to unsay something that is in print. I’m not trying to be right. I’m just showing you why clochner replied to you the way he did earlier.
Nobody cares about um here frankly, if you want to talk about being off topic. The discussion was epl and the fact that amd unceremoniously dumped them from that rs4 kit which in my opinion is a sign that they’re just not getting it done. If you want to read more about that, go read the epl thread I started here over a year ago called ‘where are all the fast EPL tuned cars (1/4 mile)’. In it I basically say that just about everyone > epl. Further epl tuned the amd kit to a low 12 @ 119-120. Um tuned it to a 11.36 @ 126. So thunk what you will from that info. Show me ANY fast epl tuned audi at the strip if you’re confused. They don’t exist.
Anyway I don’t believe I ever said Apr =um. If I did, please quote it. I just said tuners act as dealers for other tuners all the time. EPL generally tunes audi porsche. Not as much vw. Um tunes mainly vw. That’s why they refer clients back and forth. That’s why one may be a dealer for the other and vice versa. They’re located one mile apart. So dealer status doesn’t really exist. They just send the customers down the road.
Jhm for example tunes mainly 2.7t and 4.2. They don’t touch 1.8t, 2.0t, 3.0t. They recommend Apr for that. And vice versa. Apr will tell you on the phone to go Jhm for 4.2 stuff. Get it? It’s not a perfect parallel… Its just a similar ‘tuner recommending other tuner’ relationship.
