Another new tune is out...

I sold that guy my winter wheels/tires.

He drives an old A6 with the 2.7T.

I don’t understand why EPL isn’t posting threads launching the tune. They’re a site sponsor on audizine. Having customers do all the legwork says 2 things to me

 1. they hope that people being their advocates wins favour. Unfortunately the B8 section has enough smart guys that see through the dyno charts and ‘feels awesome!’ and ‘my B5 is EPL tuned and I couldn’t be happier!’. None of that says ANYTHING about whether or not the tune works

 2. they are just too busy doing Porsche stuff to bother with the Audis in any real significant manner. To me that’s more plausible…because they suck at tuning fast Audis, and when AMD dumps them as their tuner of choice, that’s the last straw for EPL in the Audiworld.

Seriously guys…check this out. Here are the EPL tuned cars on the top 1/4 mile list (B5/6/7 inclusive). Just type EPL in the search field in the ECU column.

http://audirevolution.net/quartermile/

11.4 @ 123 with 1.72 60’ time NYCVR6 K04/RS6 hybrid turbos B5 S4 - this was EPL tuned, and on race gas with a great driver. Problem is he had to make a bunch of tweaks to the tune to go 11.4 @ 123…so I’m not sure I’d really call it an EPL tune, but hey they need the help. Let’s give them that one

11.92 @ 118 with 1.70 60’ time BIGERN45 RS6 turbo B5 S4 - EPL tuned, race gas, full modlist. Kitchen sink…and it ran 11.9…a.k.a. what TVS1320 Audis are running on pump gas. What SHOULD an RS6 sized turbo B5 S4 on race gas with good mods run? JHM went 10.8 @ 130.

12.05 @ 115 with 1.66 60’ time DAP K04 B5 S4 - EPL tuned, race gas, full modlist. seriously? This is the third fastest time EVER posted by any forum member with an EPL tuned car???!!! That’s pretty sad considering these guys and their fanboys are trying to convince us all that EPL is the best Audi tuner. They’re positively mediocre.

There’s another EPL tuned time that will go up on the list if we get a slip. We haven’t seen timeslips, but two guys at the track the same day said the HIGH BOOST AMD TVS1900 supercharged B7 RS4 went low 12s @ 118-120 MPH at -1500 feet of density altitude when it was EPL tuned. Low 12s. 2 weeks later, AMD ditched EPL and went with United Motorsports who re-tuned the car. It went 11.36 @ 126 MPH. They changed the tune. That’s it.

EPL FTL

So here is the “launch” thread on vendorzine… Nice answer to Richi’s ? from Tony… I especially like this quote…

“1/4 has been verified via Racelogic p-box and is comparable to many cars we have seen with stage 2 set ups.” Really, so now p-box 1/4’s count… LOL

http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php/543949-EPL-B8-S4-Stage-1-Flash-Special-Limited-Quantity

His answer for Richi is legit. APR provided nothing but a dyno for you guys. So did GIAC. So did REVO.
I see you currently have a tune from another tuner… Did they provide you with a time slip before your purchase?
I just don’t think the owner of a small business should be having a go like that at consumers who ask a very simple question. Looks pretty tacky.

Richi didn’t say ‘your dyno doesn’t mean fuck all without a timeslip’. He just asked if they had gone.

i asked pretty standard questions. 1/4, road course, p-box, and data logs, and while apr didnt take the b8 s4 specifically, they have taken other platforms to the track as well as have multiple race programs and the funds to do the proper testing that might not be the hardest hitting out of the box, but is one of the most reliable. and that i will attribute to them learning the extreme boundaries of the motor… thats worth almost as much as the other numbers to me…

Saki, My point wasn’t to defend APR it was more to show that Tony thinks p-box # that is comparable to the stage II real strip times is acceptable… He probably didn’t even use the file just what the display said… lol But, yes you are correct APR didn’t provide this data 3 years ago either but being first to market didn’t allow for comparing tune to tune… At least GIAC had 1fast go to the strip… With all the others out there stellar #'s should be the way to differentiate your late to market product IMO… Again, just my .02

why would a piece of software be available in “limited quantities”?!

I could understand if you were soldering a chip to the ECU but rewriting an ecu… really???

I’m with you PT. He was retarded on two fronts

 1. using pbox times (unverified) on random undulating roads to justify his tune’s performance
 2. taking a kick at Richi, a consumer

It’s not. It’s the $999 deal that is limited to first 3 customers.

ohhhhh, i’m sure that will go fast.
I’ve tried to change that as best I can, although it’s not always possible.

He seems to dodge the 1/4 very well. When asked, he usually answers a question with a question. A very laughable example was in an email between us… I might have to find it…
and we appreciate it!

Raising the standard of proof can only help the customer by weeding out the shitty offerings out there.

hahahaha looks like jPrice is at it now in the B8 forum

Funny, seems just last week he was pretending to care about the B7 Rs4 in order to pump the tires of EPL and AMD. Oh wait…it was just last week.

Replete with the requisite ‘I’ve ridden in one…pulls hard!’. What a fucking useless testimony. Someone goes in and turns off boost bleedoff and bang…pulls hard. Big fucking deal. Show something EPL. This is getting embarrassing.
Rest assured that it’s special introductory pricing, not beta testing. I have ridden in one of the beta EPL B8 S4s several weeks ago. Pulled smooth and strong all the way up. Even though it was a beta testing car, it ran perfect right out of the box and did not require any tweaking. Well done tunes ftw!
^^ That whole thread is absurd. Mr. Self-Righteous (a.k.a. Stereodude) is making his obligatory attacks on anyone who questions a tuner other than APR, and the B5 guys have made their way in to defend EPL. E.g.,
Wow, you guys are vultures. First of all, those of you b8-only guys should look into EPL and their history with the b5 and other platforms.
Funny how he then failed to share some of that history with us. Perhaps he doesn’t want to talk about EPL’s work on the AMD RS4 supercharger.

But then again, this may all be moot because EPL has now promised to provide the data we’re requesting:

Better yet…why don’t YOU (CLOCHNER) go share that history with them. Maybe then they will understand why everyone is so skeptical. I sent you a couple of links

In the B5 forum, everyone thinks EPL is great because…well I don’t know why. They have great dyno numbers I guess?

So if you question EPL in there, you get assaulted, and the truth never comes out. In fact you end up with your posts getting deleted because EPL is a sponsor in there. So their legend grows.

EPL tunes fast cars like Jerry Seinfeld was a fast sprinter in high school. He wasn’t…and they don’t…but both of them refuse to run, so you won’t see the truth.

The truth is simple…look at our quartermile list.

http://audirevolution.net/quartermile/

We have 150+ cars
We have B5/6/7/8

APR - 53
JHM - 43
GIAC - 32
REVOStasis - 20
EPL - 3

We have a grand total of 3 EPL cars. Three. These are the supposed custom tuning superstars? Where the fuck are all of their fast times???!!!

That is a classic Seinfeld reference/analogy!! ;D

And I just posted those links. Let’s see if any of the B5 guys respond.

This launch may actually be more of a fail than jwoww… I can’t get over the responses coming out of Tony.

Quoting itguy and thanking him for his ridiculous post was a huge mistake. These are marketing basics. I am blown away that someone who represents a “brand” is publicly dismissing skeptics let alone potential customers.
