who was it that hosted the special?
Ill try and find the info, but it was 3-5 years ago. All I remember was it was up in Markham, and I think it was on a BMW board. I think on the BMWs, they call it shadowline, so Ill do a search and see what I can find.
Here is one that was organized for $170 in 2011

Looks like normal price through the guy is $200
Looks like they got it down to $150 with over 10 cars

If you can organize a group buy with them, you can count me in 100%
I was hoping you would organize one
LOL. OK. I have never done one before but Ill give the guy a call. If it is spread across multiple forums, I can’t see there being any problem getting 10 people together. Ill let you know what I hear back from them.
Man, this is not going well. I just called Shinzo Werks and they don’t do ANY car stuff anymore. I asked him if he could suggest someone else, and he said he could not.
I am not in a hurry to get mine done, since there are more pressing matters with the car right now. But Ill do some more research once I get the car on the road, and find someone who can help us. I ordered a set of gloss black wheels for the RS6 (said Id never do black wheels again, but changed my mind) so Ill need the trim wrapped/painted gloss black for sure. It just wont look right with the black wheels.
how about re style it?
Just got off the phone with Andre from Restyle It. He is totally on board with a group buy. Standard pricing for the window trim is $230 plus tax. He is also interested in doing other stuff (like tail lights, bumper trim, etc) so the group buy discount can apply to the job, be it just the trim or something else.
We didnt work out all the details, as I told him Id gauge interest first, and get back to him. He did say that discounts would be progressive, meaning bigger discounts at 5, 10, 10 plus cars.
I have never setup a group buy before, so it will take a couple days. Any comments or tips are welcome.
you need to do it on audizine obviously…so that’s tough.
maybe try on audiforum.ca too?
Start a thread like this one (hell you can just copy my OP) and mention that you’re thinking of getting it done but want to get some guys together for a discount. Mention you wonder if any site sponsors will do this work (they won’t). Then you can maybe get it going that way. Or maybe link over to audiforum.ca
What about Krown on lakeshore?
Nice. I think I am going to have to backtrack a bit on this. I realized I have way to much going on right now to run the group buy. Plus, my car is not even ready to participate, so it doesnt make sense quite yet.
If it hasnt been started in a few months, Ill try starting one up.
Claudio has a lot of group buy experience. Plus he has VAGKRAFT clout on his side for pricing.
Great idea.
We should have him arrange it.
Perfect!
email him… It’s on you because you bailed.
why would I email him when I am not even ready to have mine done yet?
You realize a group buy is going to save you about a maximum of fifty dollars on your trim, right? And youll have to wait around for a month or two for a bunch of people to agree on a day, if it ever happens at all.
When it comes to being frugal (i.e. cheap) you can put me at the top of the list. But to be honest, for the time that has already been wasted discussing this, it makes more sense just to pay the $230, and get RestyleIt to do it.
I know I suggested the Group Buy at first, but now that I think about it it is a dumb idea. We are talking about cars that range in value from ten to eighty grand plus. My opinion, pay the extra fifty and just go get it done. If there is a group buy on when I am ready, Ill participate. Otherwise it is another mod that is being added to my already too large list.
it’s on you!
As for the fifty bucks, I don’t care, I’m in no rush. I don’t mind waiting a month or three. My car isn’t in need of a tires group buy. It’s changing the look of the trim. It’s the least important thing I could possibly do to my car, so if it’s now or later, that’s fine.
Anyway, let us know when you get it setup with Vagkraft.
