APR B8 Stage 3 S4 versus GIAC B8 Stage 2 S4

oh fuck - that must have been so long ago i forgot about it. CV literally has his hands on every audi platform lol

So about those logs? If both cars were logged, reviewing boost, timing, iat’s, etc will tell a ton about both cars… I know what pump gas stage II cars logs look like… Can we share them? I think sharing logs from both cars could shed more light on what is going on, that’s what we’re here for right?

Richi is going to his standby… blaming the cooling lol

Didnt he do this when his car dyno’d shit and then again when it ran shit in the 60-130? That Apr cooling system is his blame whipping bitch.

His money is in cooling issues? No his money is on unproven mods. Lots of it.

I’m frankly shocked anyone buys anything without proof from these tuners. It’s like we’ve learned nothing over the last 6 or 7 years.

Richi told me not to share logs yet. Let me talk to him and see if he wants to send them over your way. I don’t have logs from last night of my car but I can grab some after work today.

Saki used your knowledge for this post… Hope you don’t mind I copy and pasted.

"I won by 8 or 10 cars lengths in a roll race. That’s about 4-5 car lengths in a 1/4 mile run.

That’s about 4-5 tenths since the car is going 150 feet per second and is 15 feet long.

So if my car in last nights conditions is an 11.75 car, that means Richi’s car is around a 12.1-12.2 car in the 1/4. Considering APR ran 11.1 with a prototype pulley, no seats, no exhaust, race gas, super light wheels and slicks I don’t think the results are 100% out of line.

Consider this:

The APR run was 11.15 @ 121.5
remove slicks = 1.5 tenths and no MPH…that means normal tires is 11.30 @ 121.5
normal wheels/tire weight = 0.5 tenths and 0.5 MPH …that means 11.35 @ 121.0
remove protopulley = 2 tenths and 2 MPH…that means 11.55 @ 119.0
put back front/rear seats and catback = 200 lbs = 1.5 tenths and 1.5 mph…that means 11.70 @ 117.5

So in 3000 feet of DA and ‘normal’ trim, this car runs 11.70 @ 117.5.

I said 3000 feet because that’s what dragtimes DA calculator said for 3pm at MMP on July 30 I don’t care what APR’s toy said. We always use dragtimes for an idea of what’s what.

Now in the past we’ve seen that Race gas generally in all B8s is good for .2-.3 seconds and 2-3mph.

Let’s say .3 and 3 mph for argument sake.

Now we’re at 12.0@114.5

Basically making sense of last nights results. Could there be a little more in Richi’s car? 100% but I don’t think we’re going to be blown away at any point by this kit."

Thanks Pete! Just trying to get all the data to see wtf is going on and so I can to make the best decision… I still think the kit will perform as it’s a pretty simple concept given it’s a larger blower and more efficient… I have confidence that if it’s a tune issue Eric will figure it out and if it’s a hardware/install issue that can be resolved… Quite a few have bitched about RSW so maybe they didn’t bleed the system correctly causing IAT’s to shoot way up, causing mass timing retard, resulting in a slow car… It’s certainly plausible/possible and a review of the logs would tell pretty quickly… Honestly, surprised logs weren’t a requirement of this beta program… I’ve always been told from APR if I test something they need to see the data…

Richi, Please let me review them… Thanks!

im going to have tsivas send them over to you ron! and IAT’s were up quite a bit from stage 2.

i have no problem testing shit, i enjoy it, its fun for me. my car ran very differently once i sorted out the cooling the first time around.
feels like its doing the same thing again with the way it pulls, Tsivas was in my car and felt the same thing.

[quote=“richib86,post:27,topic:7857”]
Thanks Rich! I’ll provide feedback and can do that via posting or email if you don’t want it shared… This just doesn’t make sense it’s a fucking bigger more efficient blower… I’m trying to be open minded and gather facts to both hopfeully help you and decide on my purchase decision… So THANK YOU!

Bigger isn’t always better…and is the difference in the efficiency staggering or minimal. If the 4.2 was having issues driving the bigger blower without stalling, I wonder if they had any issues with the 3.0?

If you copy and paste just quote lol

Trying to figure this out…

Then 2 days later the car got ape raped and that changed to ‘it was having problems’ ?

It’s probably hard not to hype up a mod you just spent $10k on…

Guess so.

I still think that even if it was broke and they ‘fix’ it, you are going to see some disappointing results.

The funny part will be if they sort his car out and then put 2 car lengths on the stage 2 car every moron on audizine is going to say "YEAH! THAT’S WHAT I’M TALKING ABOUT! "

Meanwhile anyone who knows anything about drag racing knows that will mean stage 3 is making about 10-20 hp more than stage 2.

The more you read those threads the more you realise people just don’t understand this stuff. Vigz is trying to discredit everything Auditude3.0T posts. Meanwhile Auditude3.0T is quoting loads of stuff I’ve posted which I’ve learned over the years and from managing quarter mile lists since 2009.

It’s funny because it just shines a light on who is paying attention and who is not.

I like how the Mercedes troll calls me out in Pete’s AZ thread. This is motivating me to go to Sonoma Wednesday night drags. I should actually go at night instead of 3 PM.

I believe we will be hosting another JHM Audi Night in November. You should roll out this time! Kris is out there holding it down for the B8s ;D

Another interesting video… Don’t think it’s been posted, sorry if it has…

Maybe “Stage III” should be demoted to Stage 2- or Stage 1+

So people are paying beta pricing for this kit?

Question: Has this thing ACTUALLY been released in its final form? Sorry, but this is a fucking fiasco from what I can gather from here and on AZ. I frankly haven’t a clue how anyone would throw down even beta pricing - let alone the full 10 grand - for a blower that is nothing if not unproven.

From the initial launch with fucked up math and no time slips to what we’ve seen today, this sales attempt by Magnusson and its chosen dealers smacks of shadiness. I do hope B8 guys who were interested in this thing will hold back 'til we see some proven acceleration results. I have my doubts in that regard, but I would love to be proven wrong.

This is a stage 3 car 60-130

https://youtu.be/0-RO5yzlMtc

Maybe it’s just me bit this isn’t that good is it? Seems to be 12-13 seconds and that’s on the speedo (which is optimistic)

Someone posy that list of pbox confirmed 60-130 b8 times. I think we are all going to have a laugh.

Primetime are you out of your mind? I am pretty sure I saw you say you’re still buying this kit?

Save your money and put it towards something else. It has taken them 3 years to get to here. You know why the two weeks joke is so popular? Apr did the same thing with a supercharger kit for the b6 s4. They tried and tried and tried to make an Eaton m90 work. The m112 wouldn’t fit (they thought) with adequate cooling so they went with the m90. They brought in a consultant who is a member of this site. He told them ‘ditch the m90’. They stuck with it. They redid the tune. They tried everything.

After over $100,000 they said ‘fuck it’ and shelved it. I held one of the prototype manifolds. They’re mothballed.

That was the old Apr.

The new Apr? They’re going full steam ahead with this one. They’re just trying to blame it on Eaton and they’re letting g the Apr dealer network take the fall. The dealers are too stupid to see it and Magnuson doesn’t give a shit. Apr can’t afford not to. But the problem is it’s another Eaton m90 on the b8. It’s not working. The hail Mary bullshit video pass and the new pulley…these are last ditch efforts to salvage it. The new Apr can’t afford to write this off…and from the sounds of it Magnuson isn’t letting them off the hook.
