APR Stage 3 - Place your bets!

So, we!'ve heard all kinds of wild guesses… Time to vote.

How much will apr stage 3 cost? Use he number closest to what you think I. E. If you think $6,000 like someone else on AZ guessed, vote $5,000.

Really hope Arin unintentionally votes in this…

I vote: $5000-6500. I felt they were really stressing how it was going to be “much less than you might think.” Hopefully that comes to fruition.

The question really is, how much is the Deutsche Tax, as Saki put it to me once. I’d say at least 50%.

So when full-on TVSR2300 superchargers with intercooler setups cost $7000 as a bolt-on, you gotta say around $10-11K. That’s actually what I hope for, so that’s how I’m voting.

My fear: knowing they have been hyped up so much, they will sell like hotcakes, and I’d bet they start higher, $13K or so, then end up at $10-11K there after a year. And unfortunately, this could screw all the early adopters who want to sell theirs after a couple years.

TVS 1900 kits for GM cars go for $6000-$8000. I am positive it will not be that cheap for the B8 because of R&D. I think we are looking north of $8000. Predicting $9,999. ;D

I say an even ten grand. The RS4s and S5s required R&D to fit a SC to a NA engine as the 3.0T is SC to begin with. Plus they are not going to use different fuel injectors.

i bet $7500 without the CPS

Probably right, but not everyone has the CPS. If I recall Arin once posted that it will be HIGHLY recommended.

Are we even sure it will be the 1900?

I think 10k seems like a decent guess. I just hope it’s fast enough to get the 6 mt into the 11s. :stuck_out_tongue:

I voted $15,000…and I can’t see why I’m the only one

Perspective… The rs4 kit was the much cheaper than the tvsr1320, and initially sold for… Wait for it… $18,995!

And they had no trouble selling them. A year later they dropped it to $14,995, and that’s where the sits today, although they did a blow out sale for $13000 installed recently I think.

I would be shocked if it was four digits. I was torn between the $12,500 mark and $15,000.

The other thing that I think will be a problem for the price eia that they are launching it on the RS5 first… And rs owners will pay up big like the rs4 owners did on the old kit

Consider that the tts s5/rs4 kit is $20,000…and that Apr will see little reason to sell for half of that. They have huge markets in Europe and Oceania and South africa.

Will be interesting.

Im going in price is right style…$1 BOB!

Would be nice if the poll included ranges rather than one definite number
$13999 S4 (15k is my vote since no ranges :P)

$17999 RS5

$12,500.

Jus cuz.

Why different?

I say $12,500 for the S4 kit and $18,995.00 for the RS5…

If the S4 kit is under 6k without the CPS in some fantasy land i will buy a kit 100%

But the question nobody has asked yet it… will it come with RS4 badges…

  1. Different market. Just like the tvs1320 is more expensive for the RS4 vs S5.
  2. S4 is already surcharged vs an NA RS5+
  3. At 13k S4 owners will bitch but at >15k they will bitch n moan n rage
  4. RS4 badges = $14099 8)

I don’t see why the preexisting supercharger matters? From the looks of it they’re reusing nothing. It’s not like they’re just slipping the 1900 in the oem plenum. It’s all new. Tuning it might be a little easier, but what else?

Injectors for the 4.2 FSI as well as the fuel pump are pretty heavy duty. Not sure they’ll need changing. That would likely be the same for both cars. If they do need hanging again, that will likely be the same for both cars.

If they’re upgrading everything of course the v8 cars will need 8 vs 6 plugs, injectors, coil packs (if they do) etc, but that’s not going to be many thousands…maybe hundreds more.

The other thing to remember is that Apr isn’t really selling these to forum members. As romantic as it would be to think so, the reality is they will sell the first 20 to people we’ve never heard of wih maybe one or two exceptions. I get the impression richi and primetime have the motivation and bankroll to get this done, but otherwise I don’t see many/any forum regulars stepping up.

$16,500 is my bet.

I think $6k is way too cheap lol. I will be interested to hear if they have found the limit of the internals by grenading an engine.

$12.5k with the CPS unit $10kish without…

If the numbers are good and I still have the car, you can add me to the list. Won’t we need a solid clutch solution by then as well?
