What is the emissions testing process out there (when he passed)? Lots of places have recently changed to obdii + CEL check, whereas they used to use a sniffer and cursary visual test in the past.
He mentioned he passed a few months ago. There’s threads online that Washington state has been doing OBD2 tests as far back as 2010.
That said (upon further reading), some counties may still be performing sniff tests. So yeah, knowing the actual test performed would be the only sure way of knowing.
america is funny with these federal…then state…then county regulations.
this would be tantamount to Toronto having a sniffer test and Peel (Mississauga, Brampton) having OBDii and York (Vaughan/Woodbridge/Newmarket) having nothing at all.
For example, Florida spent many millions in the 80’s and 90’s on start of the art testing facilities. I had my car tested every year to get it registered.
Fast forward 15 years… I was sweating it when I moved back with my catless STi… only to find out that they cancelled all testing through state legislature and demolished the facilities.
The days of leaded gas and poor running carbarated cars is long behind us. Emissions testing is becoming less needed. It still offers big money for government to tax on. Due to that not too sure it will ever go away completely
Talked to two APR sc guys today (one 1320 and one 1740 who used to have a 1320) and both acted like they’ve never had an issue with emissions. So rather interesting the conflicting stories.
Someone should ask meem if his car can pass. He wasn’t in apr’s pocket like FT
Someone should also tell rxheven to drop it. Who cares about california? Why is everyone blaming the customer? Focus.
Client is considering buying an item, but does his due diligence first .
Client asks vendor dealer if it will pass an obdii scan. Vendor dealer gives ignorant answer “yes”
Client goes the extra step of calling vendor directly to ask them if it will pass readiness. Vendor directly gives ignorant answer. “yes”.
Client goes the extra extra step of calling vendor technical support team to ask them if it will pass readiness. Vendor tech support team gives ignorant answer. “yes”.
Client buys kit.
Client fails renewal, and car sits for most of a year, illegal and undriven.
Arin loves to mention that they have sold a few hundred of these and they’re raking the money in. If that’s the case, they need to buy his kit back and put his car to stock. Quietly of course, otherwise they will be buying back lots of kits.
Not because he failed readiness tests and the whole ‘you gotta pay to play’ bs which is what rxheven and ft and those blaming the op are trying to make it . But because they ignorantly told him it would pass readiness multiple times BEFORE he purchased.
RX heaven can be a fucking douche bag, where has he been over here. All I remeber is the argument that him and MDUBZ had about nothing when they are both going built motor/JHM charger. He seems like a real prick that probably wouldn’t even look a person in the eyes face to face.
This issue is definitely not the OPs fault when APR told him through numerous channels that there wouldn’t be a problem. Arin is doing all that he can to squirm out of the situation, maybe R/TErnie should get back to his drawing board.
