APR updated 3.0T tune?

Arin hinted that APR has an updated 3.0T tune in the works. Anyone have more info on it?
I think you’ll enjoy the extra power and torque we’re working on rolling into a new update for B8 and B8.5.

I’m not sure you guys want the new cowboy increasing the power…

IMHO there isn’t much left on the table with these cars so I doubt it will be anything impressive.

B8 I’d agree, facelift 2014/2015 there might be power to be found. But I’ll wait to see some results before reflashing. And I’m kind of tired of apr promises on this platform, they haven’t delivered anything of note since port flashing…

fixed

It would be cool to hear more and see APR continue to get behind the 3.0t they dp seem to have fallen asleep at the wheel. Even if they come out with new tunes for the stage 1 and 2 cars where is the stage 3 car development at. It would be nice to see something from APR but with the current cowboy tuning going on. I would wait 6 or 8 months for other people to be the gunny pig.

Here’s APR’s latest marketing plug:

They also claimed to have raised the LC limiter. Not reset it, just made it greater.

Yeah, I’m going to see if I can get to 500 launches…

Looked at my counter for the first time yesterday, 13 launches lol I’ve done maybe 15 passes at the drag strip and a few launch control demos. Looks like I’m still good (and not so good at getting the counter to go up at the strip)

I think once we had guys like primetime and the dude from Windsor get together and show that launch control is no faster than non-launch control, that counter thing became a non-issue.

I’m surprised anyone uses it.

^^ ya other than a neat “show-off” feature, it’s not really useful at the track. Primetime smash-and-go all the way!

That’s not a bad thing. Leaves you plenty of launches.

I was wondering this too. Don’t most of the top guys not even use it.

Jeff (jones2012S4) uses the GIAC DSG tuned launch control. I believe he set his best 60’ time with LC.

Jones input is #24

FYI, the primetime smash-and-go method increments the LC counter. I’ve only used actual LC about 5-6 times on my car, but when I checked the counter recently, it was up to ~50 from all the smash-and-go that I’ve done. Using 2 feet and having a slight overlap between gas and brake seems to increment the counter.

I bet they are just using more ignition timing, since Revo has had a lot of success with that. From the 3.0TFSI brief:
The two intake camshafts can be adjusted through 42 degrees crankshaft angle.
Spend that angle if you’ve got it!

That was a joke by the way… I think I’m in the mid-20’s with most of them being on the drag strip.

I stated this in the AZ thread, but my car has been hit-or-miss without. If everything works like it should, mash-and-go gives me just slightly better times. However, recently, every mash-and-go attempt bogs or hangs-up on the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts. I talked to Ron about this, and went over my logs, and it looks like possible wheel spin, but I can’t say for sure (or why I’d see it there, but not a LC launch 5 minutes later or before). The logs really only show the car revving to 7200 as opposed to 7000, and that’s what looks like possible wheel spin. I just know the last few times at the strip my car has consistently not hung-up with LC, and has without.

Either way, I am going to try the DSG tune, and new APR tune. As many of you know, my car has not been particularly fast at the strip with a best 100 octane time in the 12.5@113 range, so I’m willing to give it a shot to see if the tune gets me a bump in power, and maybe the DSG tune will help with some of the shifting issues I’ve had the last few times. I’m also going to switch from a 100 octane tune to 104 since that is what I usually run and have access to…

Launch control for me is faster and more consistent. Actually the day me and Primetime met up for a head to head when I was running giac v1 I out 60’ on nearly every if not all of the runs. He still ran better times but I had the 60’ on lock.

So do not count out launch control. It is consistent, requires no thought, and works.

That said I have also run extremely fast 60’s with the side step smash and go method.

Do you have the GIAC DSG programming? Wondering if that is a differentiating factor.

Stock programming would bog down on me when I had my S4.

I’m hoping the new tune, and DSG software, are available soon. I’m going to flash back to stock for the recall, and I’m hoping this will be ready in the next 2-3 weeks when they are done with the recall (still waiting on parts for the recall, so not 100% sure when it’s going to happen).

The full 1/4 mile strip has open days every Friday in May, and I am trying to get a APR, GIAC, and Revo stage 2 car, a Revo stage 1 car, and a Chipwerkes car all there at the same time. I think I have everything lined up to make this happen (still working on the Revo and GIAC stage 2 cars, but the others are in for sure–just need to make sure my car is ready…).

Yes I do have GIACs DSG tune. It has been the subject of great debate whether or not benefits the car at all during launches, while on the street it is negligible, I can say I greatly favor it at the track.
