APR updated 3.0T tune?

While I’m excited for the bump in power, the real treat will be this DSG tune. Might grab some drag radials and give the 6k launch a shot. My apr dealer said he’d call me the second he can do it, release date looks like its pretty soon from what Arin is saying on AZ.

[QUOTE=Arin@APR;10700453]In short, you pick the max rpm when you flash the ecu.

Then we preset 3 different launch RPMs based on the value you set, and doesn’t go lower than stock.

At 100% throttle + holding the kick down switch, you get the max rpm launch.
At 100% throttle with the kick down switch not activated, you get a lower launch rpm.
Around 50% throttle (actually, a wide range under 100%) you get the low launch rpm.

Pick the one you want. Let go of the brake, go full throttle and hold on.

It’s great. One rpm could be for street tires on the street. The other for the track where conditions are stickier. Finally, track + really good tires. That’s how I would setup my car, but ultimately it’s up to you, your mods, and what your comfortable doing!

THE TUNE UPGRADE AND TCU TUNE HAVE FINALLY BEEN RELEASED…!!!

I trapped 120.86 last night and backed it up with a 120.5x(slips are at home and I’m in the office)… DA was 400-500… I’ve had them both for a little while ;D

That’s great! Awesome job! What were your times?

where are you losing ET? People who talk trap usually posted an ET they’re not happy with…

Your best ET was 11.69 and you trapped 117 there. A poor ET great trap run might have seen 118.5 traps on that setup

Now you trapped 120.8, which would indicate the car is making another 20 hp, or is shifting faster. You should be seeing 11.50@120.X.

Speculating here but did you spin? Did you use your launch method or LC? If so what RPM? Still on the conti’s or drag radials…? I have a million and one questions, lol. Going in next week for the flashes if I have build a raft to get there :smiling_imp:

I have trapped 120.xx multiple times. DA from -300 to 550.

Ets were not great though. Curious on 60’s and ET Ron! Share damnit.

:o  :frowning:

Last night I made 4 passes… The ET’s were 12.0x, 12.0x, 12.0x, and 12.1x Again, I’m in the office so I don’t have them in front of me…

Losing all the ET on the front end of the track, 60 and 330… 60’s were all 2.0 I believe I’ll have to confirm when I get home… Car is much much stronger up top…

No I didn’t spin… I used LC once and couldn’t activate it the other 3 times… 3500 was the launch rpm when I used it… I run conti’s… Ask away…

You never trapped 120.86 ;D 60’s were not good… 2.0x’s

Hope all is well bud… I owe you an email on the part we discussed, just been busy…

LOL!

Pretty much summed up my range of emotions.

Tell me about it, longest wait ever.

12.0 is just flat weird. Sounds like driving dynamics aren’t awesome. The ‘upgraded’ APR tune and DSG tune doesn’t seem to be so awesome yet.

Sounds like APR had the same experience since they have been posting all kinds of 1/4 mile results lately but nothing from Arin’s car.

Saki, Arin’s car is a 6 speed not dsg… As for my car, it runs AWESOME, I’m just having launching issues but remember we were testing on my car… It’s part of being a beta tester so I have no problem with it and the apr team has been great to deal with and responsive to everything I’ve brought up so there is no I’ll will on either side… I wouldn’t have posted but the tunes were released so I thought I’d share… Everything else they mention works 100% and is a very nice upgrade… This car is a toy that I like to race though so my focus is on figuring out why it won’t launch correctly… I’m 100% confident that will happen very soon… When it does in da like yesterday I think I’ll go 11.4x… Wanna bet a coke?

Also, just to clarify we haven’t ruled out driver error or an issue with the car itself…

Here’s the 120.86 trap slip…

Ron - thnx for keeping us updated. Looking forward to more testing results.

I’m pretty down on APR as a whole, given their conduct on this forum. But I’m still interested to see further B8 developments.
