Saki, Yes the new ECU tune is very nice and is definitely making more power based on the 3 or 4 trips I’ve made to the dragstrip with it so all cars should see a nice bump and the logs show this as well… I’d say it’s good for 1-2mph…
I’ve had the file for a few weeks, I didn’t have these files last year as they are new to my car in the last month or so…
Let’s be clear I in NO WAY work for APR… I work with them on occasion to help test tunes and I am not compensated to do this in fact it costs me quite a bit mostly in time and gas, which I have no problem with and quite honestly enjoy and appreciate.
As we’ve been over before I paid full price for the ECU tune back in 2010. I got the pulley at cost because ECS wanted to use my car to make bling bling parts and in return they gave me the pulley at cost and did the install with video which has helped countless people. I got the CPS during the initial release sale and paid what everyone else did. I also purchased my Brembo brakes from APR and got a nice price there because the sales team quoted me the incorrect set and then once I paid they realized it but after a few back and fourths they honored the price they originally gave me…
I think I’ve been as transparent as possible with this forum and others in the past. I pointed out when the first tune didn’t take on the forums for all to see, I pointed out when the pulley didn’t work for all to see, I pointed out when my CPS half ass cap failed twice now for all to see, and now since this product is released I’m pointing out that my car is having some issues. Again, it could be me the driver, it could be the car itself, or it could be the dsg tune. I’m not sure and honestly I don’t think APR is either, however they remained committed to make it work. I don’t determine when their products get released in any way shape or form, if you want my opinion I wouldn’t have released this yet, but again not my call. Once it got released yesterday I no longer needed to keep my testing to myself since it will be open for all to use.
LOL if you really think I’m going to strip the car, go with drag radials, 17 inch wheels, or whatever… The only change I make to the car prior to heading to the strip is I take the spare out along with the tools. Floor mats stay in, engine covers stay on, etc. If I get the record great I’ll be very happy if not I’m not going to lose any sleep over it. Does APR want to have the fastest B8, yes they do, but I’m just a customer trying to run better ET’s.
So sure I’ll bet a cherry coke to a 7up(I don’t drink dark pop, actually I don’t drink much pop at all but I’ll partake in an occasional 7up)… The car currently has the TVS1320 that it came with from the factory. Given it’s almost summer I’d like to have the bet run through Nov., is that fair?
I’m not trying to start a trouble here with anyone including you, I’m an enthusiast who enjoys his toys and like to share and hopefully occasionally help others. If this turns into a lets be critical of APR thread I won’t partake as I want to be clear that isn’t my intention, and I’d appreciate it if you and anyone else doesn’t turn it into that. If you’d like to do that please start a thread and I’m sure you’ll have plenty of comments just not from me. Thanks I do appreciate it and hope that my threads are considered productive for the B8 folks…
