Since when are we talking about the B7? We are in section for B6’s buddy. And I never said anything about my car looking better than your car. If I ever sold my car I would buy a B7 hands down they are my favorite S4 if you recall my post in my thread of the silver B7 saying it was flawless, not a B6 because I don’t like B6 S4s which is why I wanted a USP.
And my point was you’ve said at least twice to buy an S4. But anyways in this case you car would look better IMO if it wasn’t red, Cuz I hate red. Anyways back on topic…
Like CV mentioned, we are currently looking into power adders for the 3.0L. I am not going to talk about what method we are going with until further down the road, but I can assure you we have compared both Supercharger and Turbocharger as well as power-per-dollar. We don’t yet know what a stock 3.0L can handle powerwise, but I can assure you that we will find out and of course share our findings of safe power levels with everyone.
There is currently no ETA on this project, but I can say the more 3.0L products we are able to sell the more funds we will have available for the R&D of this kit. That being said, everything you buy from us that is for a B6 A4 3.0L will contribute to bringing more power to this platform.
We appreciate everyone’s patience and the continued support on the 3.0L product.
Its a toss up, I used to like the nogoro the best hands down, but now I don’t as much, its close, but IMO mine is better when its under the right lighting, mine changes shades a lot because of the kind of blue that it is and sometimes it gives off this shade of blue that isn’t so great. I had the chance to buy a B5 S4 that was Nogoro but I didn’t. And its all a matter of opinion anyways. And remember my car is an A4, so considering it takes one of the most popular and best colors to show up my car, thats saying a lot about my car. Seeing how it is JUST AN A4.
LOL, you guys crack me up. whats so funny is only you guys would try to argue a matter of opinion. You really must have no lives. And its Not just you but there are so many people on here and hella people on AZ do it too, that have to try to prove someone wrong any chance they get on the internet no less. But it really cracks me up you guys are tring to debate an opinion. My car is the best color because I say so, i bought exactly what I wanted. If Imola was the best, then I would of bought Imola. I bought exactly what I wanted. a AWD V6 Manual. and I bought it in blue, I found a ocean blue B6 USP but it was far away and it cost more at the time I would of needed a loan at the time and I liked the denim blue better and got lucky it was only an hour away from where I lived. and I chose denim over ocean and the nogoro B5 because I liked it the most. So much for discussing mods for the 3.0…
With the same Vortech that the 4.2 uses. Because isn’t that the one you recommended would be best? so if you say so then thats what I would want.
Also can you estimate what you think the gains would be??
On a b67 s4 for example you can make 400-450 whp pretty safely…but you can make 375 whp and kill the motor if you do a poor job of power delivery.
Same on the B5 S4…the JHM rs6r turbos make enough power to make 600 whp which will require a built motor … Bit if you manage power delivery you can run them safely on a car with stock motor.
So peak power doesn’t matter when it comes to safety. Faw asked what peak power the engine can handle…and that totally depends on how you go about it.
The Vortech supercharger used in the B6/7 S4 and RS4 kits can give the 3.0 more CFM than it will ever need. If your this serious about performance and potential, give JHM a call and see if they have some options for you. I hope that you have $15k laying around though.
Does anyone know the limits of the 3.0? You can’t just estimate the potential horsepower gains without knowing what the motor can handle because like I mentioned the Vortech will probably be more than the motor will ever need.
Both, I think Count said one top that it was best to use the same Vortech that the 4.2 used. Are you saying that 15 kit for the price of the kit and labor?
I would too like to know what the 3.0 can handle in its stock form. is there any technical or mathamatical way to figure it out or do you just have to push one to its limits till it breaks to find out??
Can you estimate it by how much the S4 and the 1.8? and the 2.7? and just kinda find the mean value of all those and have a ball park for where the 3.0 might land?
$15k plus assuming you do it right…engine/supercharger
I’m sure you could test 3.0 rods and make a mathematical GUESS overall. But then your playing with fire because parts weaken and deteriorate at a certain rate. How many miles do you have? 100k plus? See where I’m going with that. It’s really hard to just put a number on it.
Also, rods and pistons aren’t the only concern. You have too look at the valvetrain, piston rings…lots of things change with the addition of FI.
JHM will sell you NOTHING until they have installed this on keaton’s car, and driven it for a year at least, testing, revising etc. Since I didn’t hear his car whistling when I was there in December, that puts you out to at least 2015 before there is a possibility JHM will put this in a customer’s hands.
Just sit tight or look elsewhere if you want monster power from a 3.0. If you want some nice bolt on mods, JHM is seemingly the place to be.
Has anyone thought that perhaps building the motor isn’t as hard as you think? My local guy who has a track record of fast reliable racecars suggested that maybe all thats needed on the 3.0 is doing an ARP rod bolt kit. Just put the car in the air and pull the pan and swap em and run a charger. I mean sure, you may need more for a lot of boost but if your doing a stage 1 maybe thats all you need. I was also thinking maybe swapping manifolds and turbos from a 2.7 and then JHM makes up sort of a “you supply turboes and manis and we supply hardware and tune.” Type kit… ?
