Ask me anything about my AMD LP/HP kit.

All good man, just again we are all just stating facts. You are just talking, and from what it seems it’s just honest and maybe a lack of knowledge on your part.

Just so you know there are 4-5 B8’s in the 11’s on pump. One of those being my manual car. There are also some B8 S4s trapping 119 plus, one of those also being my manual car. So there will be no destroying of a B8 in ‘steet trim’ as you so elegently put it above.

Yes it was running good as in it wasn’t going to damage my car, good as in you’re safe to push your car on the 1/4 mile. And good as in the car runs smooth and pulls hard yes. You drive my car and you don’t feel that there is anything wrong with it.

I didn’t elaborate, but I didn’t mean good as in the car is good at 100% where it’s supposed to perform.

Sorry man I don’t like to talk like that and I normally don’t, was just in response to someone elses comment.

It is lack of knowledge, was a little embarrassed talking to you guys about the S4 not knowing anything about the mods you were explaining to me. I didn’t know S4’s were running those times regularly as well… so I retract that statement that I will destroy any S4 as I am now.

Like anybody who runs race gas, obviously you will have a tune designated for it- otherwise it’s pretty much useless to run.

Almost every VW/Audi platform with APR, GIAC, REVO, UNI, UM there is program switching. One of those programs is usefully a race gas map.

My dads car was in full street trim, minus the spare taken out and race gas in the tank. The tires are 245/45/17 General GMAX AS03 and that size was chosen based on keeping the stock width and rolling diameter. They are 46lbs and nothing to write home about. Your HRE are most likely lighter and those RE-11 are probably stickier as well.

Props to you for owning up. Respect to you for that. And I’m sure there’s plenty of things you can talk to me about that I may not know about so no need to be embarrassed, not everyone can know everything

Auditude3.0T, Really 17 inch wheels? That has to look a little funny over the stock brakes.

Also at times I think I know everything. ::slight_smile:

I know there’s bad blood between AR and AMD (I don’t really care for Jason@AMD either solely based on his forum behaviour) and I know there’s bad blood between AR and Kryptonic (and especially one person in particular) due to past behaviours related to PES BUT, I feek like Kryptonic is trying to be more open about his AMD kit.

He offered information about sending logs to AMD and said (Auditude confirmed) that he was good to run. Based on Auditude’s post, Kryptonic never used the word flawless. That was an interpretation and although we’re talking about semantics, words are all we have to work with on forums right?

Now, I may not agree with AMD’s kit or tactics (a lot of it is akin to Fox News type behaviour such as asking a bs question to create doubt or to try and spread a rumour without someone coming back and saying they outright lied by hiding behind the fact that they simply posed a question) but I get the feeling Kryptonic is trying to be more open this time around.

Unfortunately, trust is hard earned the first time around, and nearly impossible to earn back a second time around after it was burned the first time. So Kryptonic, you have to understand some people’s reactions (to both you and to AMD).

All I can say is keep reporting information as it comes, stay away from making comments about other people’s cars where your own knowledge might be a little lacking, and don’t get yourself wrapped up in debates and arguments. If someone disses AMD (like I just did), just let it go. Your timeslips and continuing factual disclosures will speak for themselves.

We will most likely continue to bash AMD and Jason for the time being as we have zero faith in him but just ignore it for now. Try and get your issues sorted out, keep going to the track (at the very least for yourself and your own peace of mind) and keep reporting data.

If one day, you get everything sorted out and run some really good times and trap speeds as per expectations and you keep doing so without a blown engine 6 months to a year later, then it’s possible some views may change. (not saying it’s guaranteed it will but it might). Views on Jason himself however will never change but there’s nothing you can do about that as Jason himself managed that all on his own with his own behaviour.

So in summary, don’t get immersed in debates, keep reporting facts, only answer factual questions and maybe, just maybe, one day, some biases of the kit might slightly change. (Just don’t expect it to happen overnight as the kit has a huge hole to dig out of and don’t ever expect views to change about Jason himself. Those will forever remain the same).

At least that’s my personal opinion. Probably not Justin’s though lol

All I can add is that Kryptonik said his car had issues with hardware or software from the start, he wasn’t sure.

I mentioned this on AZ and got called a liar by KMD. They said there was an upgraded part that needed installed, no tune issue to speak of and that I should stop talking about their customer.

I then mentioned the upgraded harware that needed installed a few days later and KMD jumped in to call me a liar once again. (Pretty funny considering I used QUOTES) They then said that they were assuming that was the issue before they actually had the car and that in the end everything was fine.

[quote=KMDtuning]It turned out there was nothing wrong with the kit. Any concern our customer had has been resolved, quickly.

This was 2 days before the dragstrip visit.

Now Kryptonik still thinks there are issues and I think everyone here on AR would agree.

I think you have two things to do, possibly 3

  1. Drop KMD, because they aren’t ever going to help you out…they are obviously fucking CLUELESS
  2. Call AMD and demand that they resolve your issue…if not
  3. Order the JHM kit…lol
  1. how is your car same weight as stock? Do you have anything added in for weight like upgraded stereo stuff? You should be about 125 lbs lighter than stock. Exhaust, wheels, brakes, flywheel, seats should give you a big break, not zero. Are the motorsports heavier? Can’t figure it out.

  2. It is definitely fair to say he beat you by 4 car lengths. He ran 11.5 you ran 11.9. You’re both going about 150 feet per second, and 4 tenths = 60 feet = 4 car lengths of our ~180" long cars. I was saying that assuming you left at the exact same moment and ignoreing his RT benefit. In reality he beat you by many more than 4 car lengths if you include RT.

  3. I agree he had track setup whereas you are DD setup. Definitely something to be considered. Wheels/tires which help (but aren’t drastic) and he had race gas/race tune (big help for him for about 3-4 tenths, 3-4 MPH). To be honest, I was assuming that he would do what he ran because we have seen 4 B8 S4 DSG cars run within a tenth or so and an MPH or so of that time. His car did not surprise. Yours did. If AMD’s kit is honest , you should have beaten him by about 4 car lengths, not the other way around. You should have out trapped him by 7 or 8 MPH, not tied him.

JHM offered you almost nothing. They’ve confirmed this online. If one of their dealers wanted to give you a small discount and a free install so they could get another install under their belt, that’s another story…but that has nothing to do with JHM

JHM didn’t offer you a deal so that they could learn how the kit would do on a car running 93 octane. They did that on their own car. Two years ago.

To clarify for the forum, and for you it seems…WoodyRS4 donated his car for 2 years to AMD to develop the kit. His car WAS the test car. The time was run by AMD during testing.

His car went high 11s @ high teens (like you) in testing. That was the high pressure, big intercooler, 16 PSI kit.

Then they got a new tune from UM and went 11.36 @ 126. They pulled the rear seats (they admitted this) and the car was extremely loud so I’m not sure what was going on with the exhaust (other than it creating a smoke show so we couldn’t see if it had a catback on).

Makes me wonder if they put race gas and a race file on the car, ran 11.3 @ 126 (just beating TTS in the UK) and then sold customers the old tune.

I think from a roll he would walk away from your car pretty well. From a dig to a 1/4 mile post, maybe he has an edge, but not much. From a roll though, he should win easily. Would be great video footage.

to be honest, he is a good dude, and there’s no disputing that. He may be clouded right now by what he spent his money on. This happens. Hell, this happened to him twice before. First with Milltek and REVO…then with PES. Both times he stood up and defended the stuff he owned, even though it performed poorly. Always happens.

His full milltek and REVO tuned RS4 went 13.0 @ 105…aka average for a STOCK RS4 with a good driver in good DA. $6,000 commitment…so he defended it, until he realised it was not that good when the JHM cars started running low 12s @ 112-113.

His PES RS4 with full milltek went 12.6 @ 110…aka slower than I went with just a used $2,000 JHM fullback. $15,000 commitment…so he defended it, until it was clear that he went the wrong way, and then relented and admitted it.

Now he bought the AMD big boost big blower kit for $14,000 or whatever it was. He said he didn’t want the JHM because they were still testing and he wanted a simple solution that was ‘proven and tested’ and he didn’t want to have his car down for updates or adjustments etc. Well now that’s happening to him with the AMD kit. He’s also running poorly as far as performance goes.

When you buy shit, it’s like you’re on that team. Like in sports days…your guy rams a guy’s face into the glass (hockey reference), and the ref kicks him out deservedly…you still freak out on the ref and back your guy up. You’re on the same team.

Same goes for buying your XYZ parts…or same goes for your B8 S4 vs. my RS4…we’re all passionate about the shit we have. Well, the competitive among us are.

I think Dave is having his vision a bit clouded by his purchase, but if AMD doesn’t sort his car out and he has indeed been lied to, he will eventually come around and roast AMD, like he did to PES.

The only B8s that, on pump gas in a roll race, will be able to keep up with Kryptonik’s car as it ran Sunday, are 4.2 B8 S5s with superchargers.

The 3.0T guys are all trapping 116 or less on pump gas.

A roll race is an HP race. It won’t be close. It won’t be many buslengths…but it will be 2-3 car lengths for Dave’s RS4. If you guys run from 50 MPH to 125 MPH, it will be about 4-6 car lengths.

I think he clarified on AZ at one point that prime motoring offered him a discount on the kit/install at one point.

http://audirevolution.net/forum/index.php?topic=2838.msg80994#msg80994

Offered free install by Prime Motoring, doubtful he was offered any discount on top of that, unless he thought a credit for his tune was a special discount.

so you mean…exactly what I just posted? Just making sure?

With the way his car was running Sunday, he is not putting 4-6 cars on me from 50-125. I am more than happy to meet up and do a run. We have a good local spot if he wanted to come out I’ll even buy dinner at my place and we can go out for some runs.

If you look at my best run in my B8.5 on 93 v. Dave’s best run from Sunday you’ll be surprised…

DA was -151 and temp 59 for my run. Same track and same lane as Dave.

Yup, just adding that he did say it was a shop that offered it and not JHM.
