I’m going to ATCO on 4/4/2014 for some drag racing fun! Does anyone else want to join me?

Thanks man. Yeah I have lots of new:

  • 2.7 apb heads with CNC’s intake ports courtesy of Britishturbo
  • Full supertech head hardware with stock size valves
  • 2.8 intake cams
  • RS4 intake manifold and throttle body
  • 17x8 OZ SL on 245/45/17 tires, previously on 18s with rubber bands that came with the car.
  • New IC piping layout

Car gets into boost faster and just keeps on pulling now until I let off. It feels like a totally different car now that she can breathe properly!

Thanks, yeah that pass I had my best 60’ of the night but I got locked out of 4th gear, hence the low mph. I was pissed. I’m expecting much better times on the 4th as car feels much stronger.

And the Mustang was my father. He had skinny 17x8 wheels with 245 45 17 tires that would not hook up. He got his wheels widen over the winter and now has 315 35 17s that hook up much better. The car feels completely different along with 3.73 gears.

LOL! That is awesome and exactly what I did with my old GT… I had the stock wheels split and widened and ran 315’s all the time… With 540ish at the wheels the car hooked decently well… Oh and I had 3.73’s also, 4.10’s would have been better IMO…

Yeah his 1999 GT 35 Anniversary edition convertible is absolutely mint at 40,000 miles. He bought it off my mother’s co worker who bought it brand new and they both were/are meticulous about the car. He really doesn’t car about 1/4 miles times and it’s all just for fun, but he still wants to see what it will do on the 4th with the added traction. I believe it is around 350-380whp with the current 8psi pulley with 93 pump gas. This should keep the car reliable.

Nice! Believe it or not mine was a35th car also… Lol… Only had 19k miles when I sold it last year…

Small world eh. Love the air to water IC and what throttle body and intake did you have there? What supporting hardware did you need to make 540 at the wheels without breaking stuff?

We are a bit unsure what the next weak link is with his car as far as power goes. I would assume you had upgraded rods/pistons, cams?, 5 speed trans?, stock rear diff/axles?, clutch?

yeah no doubt about the small world part… lol Yeah I really liked the aftercooler setup as I would take 16 oz solo plastic cups fill them with water and freeze them… I would then drain some of the water out of the cooler reservoir and drop the ice chunks in an IAT’s would drop big time… Obviously, only did that at the strip… I also upgraded the pump on the system, went with a larger HE up front, and had twin fans installed that I could turn on and off while in the staging lanes to prevent heat soak…

I tried several aftermarket TB’s and really liked the big mouth acufab but it had driveability issues so I stuck with the twin bore Cobra TB… My brother polished and really cleaned it up so it flowed a little better… The intake is the bullit intake from the bullit GT… I bought it and port and polished it before putting it on…

As for what mods I had, I’ll try to remember everything… lol vortech sq with 3.1 pulley(I think that was the size), vortech cooler, bullit intake, longtubes, borla catback, cobra TB, 90MM MA, morpheus power pipe, worked heads with upgraded cams(don’t remember specs off the top of my head), and tuned by Lidio Iacobelli of Alternative Auto in MI. I probably missed some smaller things… The pistons/rods were stock and it held together and still runs fine really… It’s all in the tune just like Audi’s… lol I also had an upgraded clutch, shifter, rear axles, wheels widened, upper and lower control arms, sways, subframe connectors, drag struts/shocks, aluminum driveshaft and again probably some other things I can’t think of… Also, did some weight reduction stuff as well…

5-speed T-45… Correct it was a 35th Ann GT, just the TB was from a Cobra… If I get some time over the weekend I’ll post some more pics…
