I’m down for giving Byron a try.
I will bet you a cayuga poutine on that. You say 160, I say 190? cant remember what I posted. Closest wins. 175 is a push.
Thanks, this was very helpfull!
Is it better to side-step the clutch, or just a swift release?
Swift release, keeps you ready for the 1-2
I would sidestep it if my feet weren’t size 12. I just lift my left foot up in an instant. No slipping it.
Some will do this from lower revs and slip it a bit, but I have always found that a bit difficult, and a bit too easy to glaze the clutch.
I agree with Saki steps but I sweep the revs and try not to hold them as I think that is more difficult at least for me… On my RS I start giving the car gas on the first yellow and sidestep/dump it on the last yellow at about 5-5.5K RPM while flooring the gas… It’s pretty violent actually and I cut 1.67-1.72 60’s so it seems to work OK…
I always thought the sweep thing was more for small displacement boosted (turbo) cars, so that might still be the case. Not sure if anyone can comment.
PT where does boost come on in the TTRS?
Amazing runs for a B8.5! I was sweating the gearing thing a little but it seems with the DSG flash being able to use all of the RPM that was available to the B8 guys leveled the playing field.
Looking forward to seeing the APR and GIAC tunes battle for bragging rights this year.
Also looking forward to being one of the few S5 guys to even take his car down the track. Island Dragway opens in 3 weeks!
haha we were joking about doing that with the mirrors at ATCO, I think Voltron and his CTSV but he never did it. lol. FWIW on the bike I found it’s worth a couple mph on the long Mosport straight, removing the mirrors outright.
lol, fine…it’ll probably be close. maybe a poutine will put him over
- in one swift motion, release the clutch COMPLETELY while mashing the throttle to the floor COMPLETELY
I laugh when I think what would happen if you did this with a CTS-V or GT500. Quattro FTW.

Sweep for building boost for sure…but a two-step would be tits…is anyone doing this for the TTRS?
Saki, Honestly, not sure… It comes on hard pretty early though…
J, I know UM does some launch control stuff but not sure exactly how it works… I like the challenge of launching myself at any rate…

Me vs Shelby GT500 . Fun race. Had a delay with LC and going on third light.
Had him til 1/8th. He started pulling hard up top.
Hard up top…wow…yiu held him off nicely…his car was runnjng crazy rich…
Tsivas, that’s awesome man! Great race… Too bad you didn’t cut a better light… That’s why this car is a beast in a stoplight race…
Thanks guys. Was fun day. Gonna go back in week or so with Pete.
Try and have car fully adapted before we get to track and put in as little fuel as possible. Trying to swap the rotors also to the JHMs.
Want to get in runs before the masses show up and ruin the day.
Haha nice race tsiv - however, everyone should get a cheap $50 dashcam for track days

Both would really be optimal. Need a cabin view of the run as well as a third-party filming the big picture.
Nice run Tsivas! Omg that was so close to an EPIC kill. Who knew the b8 s4 with bolt ons and race gas would end up such a big game hunter.

looked like he in fact had you every inch of the track. Timeslip confirms it. You gave him that 3 tenths and he stayed in front the whole way. What’d he beat you to the lights by, about 3 cars? 4? Don’t really need the answer…15 feet per tenth, or there abouts

close one on bear.
as for a giant killer or big game hunter, not sure I would say that. This race was so close because the Mustang fucked up. Look at his splits. With that trap speed he should be high 10s with some tires and a proper launch on good tires. Low 11s with a good launch on streets. Instead he nearly stalled it and bogged like crazy. Look at his trap speed 1/8 vs 1/4 . As you saw a while back on this site, anything over 25-26 usually means something went wrong. In his case, he gained over 31 MPH. For your hunter analogy, it’s like hunting a lion with a broken leg.
If you run your best and beat a guy when he fucks up, it’s a bit of a hollow victory, no? I know I wouldn’t much care.
i.e. here…“stock RS4 is an APR tuned B8 S4 killer” said nobody ever after watching this video
