B6-A4 3.0 1/4 Mile Times

i was doing a little research on dragtimes.com and thought this would be useful information for us to have as a reference:

so the fastest 3.0 ever is one equipped with an eaton m62 blower. anyone have additional information about that fan?

it seems like the 3.0s run anywhere from a 15.4 to a 16.8 with a trap ranging from 89 mph to 91.1. some of those numbers looked like they were just posted by someone who had read those times from an issue of “car & driver” or something, so i guess take those for what there worth.

if anyone has times of their own they’d like to share, feel free to post them below and i’ll add them to the table.

The M62 is probably a PES kit, though I bet with a non-PES tune because iirc the 3.0 PES kits were grenading motors. Ironically though, I’d think an M90 would be a great blower for the 3.0 but PES chose the M62 just like instead of a M112 for the 4.2 they went with an M90.

It’s a good sign though, with a bit of boost from a poorly selected blower the car is at stock S4 speeds… now I bet with a good tune, some breather mods and some LW stuff you could get the car down around a 14.0. Then boost that with a better blower (read C-S/C) and start hitting 12’s.

15.8 and 16.8 ouch. Nice start with the list. We should look and see if we can find more information

Love the idea of this thread! Really glad to see this forum start up with such strong backing to real world results. This should be stickied and fully developed. I’d love to have an interactive excel based doc for all the sub-forums with 1/4 times and info about the car, conditions, mods, etc.

The only S/C kit ever made for the 3.0 was in fact a PES. The first tune for it was made by GIAC. That is the only tune that ahs ever been know to run properly and not blow motors. ILL 3.0 is running the GIAC tune but he also has w/m I believe. Relationships between GIAC and PES suddenly dissipated and PES started makign their own tunes which is where it got bad. The main issue with the PES tune is running lean in the high rpm’s. There have since been some attempts by Maverick and then Karp to get a custom tune done by some place in New York but apparently it didn’t go well because Karp sold his car, probably frusterated with the S/C.

I used to know a lot more about all this but I forgot everything lol.

my research has shown that 16.5 or worse is about where a stock 3.0 is.

So you guys want to know my times…? Lol

i’m still around on here. i haven’t seen any actual times added though. i heard a lot of us have been going to the track though! be sure to post all the relevant information (1/2 track speed, etc…). also, even though it’s not on there, temperature, altitude, fuel would be good extra information to put in.

hey guys. i’m back. i’m around here i just don’t have much time to look for times and then edit the table. if you’ve got YOUR OWN 3.0 liter times, post them as a reply and i’ll edit my original post. i’ll add a driver column if you guys want it!

also, edited the table with keaton@jhm’s run with their/his stock 3.0.

(how do companies do that anyway? does keaton own the car or does jhm? did he say?)

The one he ran 16.0 in was his own car.

Track is closed or i would! I wanted to as soon as I got the TCU tune, but no such luck. It’s ok. I’ll take it when it opens next April, by then I should have dp’s and full exhaust.
