B7 RS4 Bluetooth + Android (Samsung SII) - Disconnecting frequently

Anyone have this problem?

Basically the bluetooth worked perfectly with my BlackBerry Torch (although I’d LOVE to change the way too fucking loud ringer) however when I switched to an Android phone this week, I started having trouble.

When I get in the car with the phone and start it up, the phone connects like normal with the normal way to fucking loud BRRRING! noise. However when the phone ‘goes to sleep’ or whatever you call it (screen dims I guess to save power etc) it disconnects from the car, so I get the way too fucking loud DEE DOO noise.

I only just paired yesterday, so maybe I’ll delete the car as a ‘device’ and re-pair to see if it works.

Anyone else had any similar problems with their Samsung S2? Android phones?

Disable auto stand-by?

Even though your phone disconnects, what happens if your SGS2 rings again; does the bluetooth reconnect? In the pre smart phone era, I had a 2006 TDI A6 loaner. My Sony Ericsson brick phone would connect to it initially then disconnect like yours. Then when it would ring, the bluetooth would magically create a connection again and I would be able to talk via bluetooth. I had no idea how to get it initiate a call though. It was 1st gen MMI IIRC not an RNS-E though.

As for Android phones, I couldn’t find anything in my menus to suggest that the bluetooth also goes to sleep.

I do know that when my Samsung Nexus S connects to the GTI’s BT, the connection is maintained until the car is turned off.

In your settings check the Battery & Data Manager. Depending on the phone/OS version, it may be shutting off the BT connection when it goes to sleep. Try Performance Mode and see if you still have the issue.

^^^where do I find that speed?

I’m on a Samsung S2 on Gingerbread operating system.

I know it don’t matter but but my iPhone works perfect in my junk.
:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

so did my blackberry

although, on my b7 S4 I got a new blackberry at one point a few years back and it was doing this same thing. A download of an updated operating system cured it…but not sure what’s going to fix this.

Any android B7 bluetooth users here?

My girl has android , of u want I’ll try hers in it.

That would be cool…what phone?

That link should take you right to your model phone which based on your carrier i assume is the same as mine?

They call the LTE phone “skyrocket” in the us.

There’s a setting “Turn off Bluetooth when not in use”. Maybe it’s turning it off even though it’s paired due to the fact that no data traffic is occurring? My gf has an S2 as well but I don’t have an RNS-E anymore.

where’s that setting? I don’t see it on my phone anywhere G.

Apps -> Settings -> Power Saving Mode -> Turn off Bluetooth (remove the green check mark).

yeah, that’s not checked on mine…wish it was so it would be as easy as that!

how about your visible time out?

settings > wireless and network > bluetooth > check visible > timeout never.

i don’t have ‘check visible’ as an option

there’s ‘visible’ and that just allows other devices to see your phone for 120 seconds, I think for pairing a new device

and

theres visible time out

Should I make that ‘never’?

well the option is just “visible” but you have to put the checkmark in to move on

x2 on XDA Developers. That is a great resource.

Settings > Battery & Data Manager

Reading through some of the comments it appears that you may not have this. Many times the carriers will modify the ROM to their liking which means some phones will have different menu options.

^^ That must be a Samsung thing as I can’t find that option on the stock/vanilla version of 2.3.6 on my phone.
