B8 Day @ Atco

its all good saki. i got a bunch of doggy snot on my rear passenger window too… lol

Yeah, it’s crystal clear from 12 secs to 15 secs. Maybe I should have called it slobber/Saliva not snot. When I had dogs (I don’t anymore, wife is allergic), they would leave these exact marks all over the back seat windows. Normal, was just curious. I’ve had both breeds you mention and both were fantastic dogs. We’ve also had great mutts too.

That imo is a MUST. How else would we have a chance of comparing the tunes with any type of accuracy? There should also be a third party (non B8 S4 owner) present to check trunks, under the hood, interiors etc. It can only help keep things even and provide a better data snap shot of what’s actually taking place. What would be great is if each car logged their run and then someone compiled them etc. We would really have a good idea of how each tune is performing and how it translates to the road and what is happening ECU wise while driving.

tsivas is the car log whore and is only spectating that day maybe i can convince him to help out with something like this. it would be quite the data base. some people are now talking about having two sets of cars one for 93 and one for 100 seeing as supposedly there will be multiples of every tune present(sans stasis) but fuck that noise I’m running pump. as far as I’m concerned i have that race file for my own personal kicks. like racing jackson which will be happening soon… lol

Hey fellas- first post after some nudging from Rich and Ron. I really like what you guys are doing over here. I am really starting to get annoyed with the new characters over at AZ. This whole chip battle over there is getting retarted. They all are gonna do the same thing in stage 1 form. People are just dumb. That AWE dyno day was perfect example.

I’ll definitely try and make it Saturday Richi. It all depends if I can get out of work Sat. Drive is about 1.5 hrs for Etown and 2.5 hours for Atco.

Been speaking to Prime too. I really hope he can make it. It is a long ass drive for him- think he might trailer his car over- all depends on weather and if he can get trailer. Hell - APR should personally trailer his car there for the amount of sales he’s generated for them.

Rich- If people don’t mind me sitting passenger- I’ll do all the logging you guys want. Dunno if they want the extra 185lbs in their car… being that this will probably end up a who’s fastest on race gas fiasco and not at all the differences between the 3 tunes in identical forms comparison.

I do believe Pete and his dad are going. Saki- I’ll pump their gas lol.

But the Revo car does move… we did a run the other night… was dead even from 2nd gear (40-135 mph). i might have had him by half a car, but they had more weight, better gearing and DSG shifting vs my granny shifts.

Richi- u should have come out the other night for some pulls. We have this one road that’s like an airport runway and we ran front and rear spotters. There are literally no cars on the road. People were doing pulls and runs from dig for solid hour.

good to have you on here man. ill be honest tho its probably better that i wasn’t there that night cus i just found out this morning I’m suspended in NY so i called my traffic lawyer today and gotta take care of that… lol

I can always come out by you. How are roads there?

I am always down for some pulls. Wish more guys were around here.

NY is getting really strict though b/c of some idiots in last year or so. Cops will impound your car if you’re caught racing.

I also heard they’re trying to pass a law for mandated jail time (1year). Doubt it goes through though. As of right now it is a felony for street racing but now they slam you with wreckless driving and public endangerment. Fun fun.

Welcome to the board… glad you joined… Will see how things go and if I can make it…

tsivas, I like reading your threads/posts. Welcome to AR. Great info from you on all the forums.

what cars were there for pulls Tsivas? Also what tune do you have? I think you’re stage II but just tune + pulley + intake…is that right?

this was funny

I think you’re right unfortunately. People won’t want it to be about learning…just about dick measuring. While they all want to represent their tunes and the community, guys will have a hard time running 93 and posting up a 12.7 @ 111 and feeling good about themselves. Funny shit.

Tsivas, good to see you here. You must tell me about this “road.” As you know I’m only a hop skip and a jump away.

Thanks for the welcome guys.

yeah Saki- I’m Stage II with version 1 tune and AWE tuning intake. The tune is dumping a ton of boost for me (20-25%) in this weather. Timing is also being pulled with this crappy winter gas we have. Hopefully, from what Richi says, the next version is worth it. Is 20 whp that APR advertised that noticeable? My car is running pretty strong so I might not get the same Wow factor Richi experienced, as his was probably down on power with the CPS leak he had (as we saw on that awe dyno day), which is now fixed. He might have had an additive effect of the CPS fix and the version 2 tune together.

As far as cars- we had a 996 GT2 which supposedly runs mid 10s. I don’t know why he comes out. Never see him run. Just hear stories. Guy is quite the character though. Car is crazy fast.

There was also a Stage III B5 S4 that came out. He is running RS4 turbos, manifold, injectors, Autospeed tune, custom down pipe, exhaust… the one good run we had (third gear pull)… he pulled like 3-3.5 cars up to top of fourth gear. He was running pump tune. I’m afraid to see that car on race gas and 27 psi.

Another guy came out with a JB4 135i with meth, intercooler, etc… Both the Revo and B5 S4 took turns raping him from a dig. Kid was not happy.

It was a fun night.

Paul- when you get your car back… I’d love to meet up for some pulls. Your car is gonna sound insane.

As far as Atco goes… you are right… there will be a ton of 12.5-12.7 times with the DSGs especially if they are hanging up on first gear like I did when I tried the Revo car for one run. and sure enough… 12.67? @ 112 was my time IIRC. It was last run and we did manage to take out spare tire, tools etc from trunk too, and drop driver weight by 75 lbs.

It might be something to note but the runs got slower and slower for the Revo car as the day went on (12.4-12.67?) while the DSG Stage 1 APR car we took a few months earlier got faster and faster with each progressive run (7 runs total I believe), and with not as ideal track conditions (DA, temp).

Everyone thinks that the DSG cars are hella easy to run at the track… Granted you have less variables etc, but what Ron does is not easy. Everyone thinks they can run an 11.79 with race gas. It’ll be fun. Can’t wait for the sword fighting.

this was very subtly funny

As for what Ron does, people forget his modlist is more extensive than anyone else in the entire B8 game. He has left just about no stones unturned. Please correct me where I’m wrong

Milltek catback = 2400
034 HighFlowCats = 600???
APR tune = $1500
APR pulley = $550
APR cooling = $2000???
LW BBS wheels/tires = $2000
Intake = $350

He is $9400 deep already. This is not ‘just a tune’ as some of the retards out there will have you believe. To top it off, he’s running the times he is on race gas…and has about 100 passes in the B8 S4, so he has it really dialed in. Most of the other guys will deep stage, will push gears to redline, will weave all the way down the track etc. Tough to accomplish what primetime is accomplishing.

As for why the REVO car was fading, check it out…no surprise. Strangely neal or whatever his name is was saying the APR cooling system on primetime’s car needn’t be included in the discussion of what it took for him to go 11.79 but that’s just fantasy. Every little bit is contributing, even the HFCs. I don’t know who it was who determined the HFCs don’t work, but have a look at the fastest B8 list and reconsider that thesis…

i wouldnt say more extensive than ANYONE else lol

Good point!

More extensive than anyone but you…you know what I mean. These guys like auditude who ran 12.40 once when tuned…and who say 11s with race gas and exhaust will be easy…that’s the standard attitude in the B8 world. It’s comical.

i cant wait to see a bunch of disappointed faces at atco lol

don’t jinx yourself! lol

have you tried with the Pbox at all??

eh, im not concerned i already have an idea of what ill crack off plus my expectations are realistic unlike most on AZ lol. my issue last time was the clutch which is properly sorted now

yeah agreed.

Maybe we should fly out Ron and dress him in the Stig outfit and have him run each different tune and configuration after they all have a crack at those easy 11s.

GoPro cockpit camera with some classical music playing in background.

so what are the final dates/location for this? Trying to figure if I’ll come down to watch.

Saki, Agreed… The cost estimates are slightly high… I don’t have all of my invoices on this PC as I am in the office but if my memory is accurate there about $800-$1,000 high… I’m not much into comparing based on costs though as while it is important I have no problem spending money on my toys…

I think tsivas was refering more to the things you mentioned like shallow staging, knowing what tire pressure works based on temps to help reduce 60’s, keeping your line down the track, going with the right amount of gas, etc. later Ron
