It’s weird, my track does that, prime times track sometimes does, aprs track always does.
Thats a solid et.
Notarmed what fuel did you run?

Doug, congrats on the great times! Much better than I expected and glad to admit that… Hope you had fun and I’m sure you are happy the car did so well… These were on 91? If so even more impressive… Did you take go pros?
their good pump is 92 in WASH+ ORGN.
The consistency on those runs is astounding

DSG is a helluva drug
If I were a betting man, he ran the 2 slower times relatively back to back when he first got there, then cooled it down a bit, then ran the two fast times relatively back to back
Congrats man, love the consistency of the runs…
Very nice! ;D
wow - that’s awesome! congrats on the good runs, armed. nothing speaks louder than actual quarter mile data.
I believe those runs were on 91 pump if I’m not mistaken.
Kickass times man! Fastest Stage I pump run to my knowledge on ANY tuning platform? If so… maybe there IS something to the headers afterall?
Seriously though, great times and very consistent! Happy to see that!
well seeing as the header sample rate just boomed in the last few months im hoping there will be more people going to the strip. id love to put the debate to death but it seems like the long and short of it is on a stock car there are good gains to be had(cost effective? still debatable) and with every ecu mod you do(ie: stg 1 or 2) itll numb the impact that the headers have on there own, tho stg 3 my yield very different results when trying to push out higher volume. either way ive never once been disappointed with my headers, its not like they’re robbing power or anything. and with the valved exhaust they sound like pure sex
The debate has never been ‘do they work or not?’
The debate has been ‘for $2800 + $1000 in labour, is this the best way to pick up 20 hp?’
The header owners and their apologists turned it all dramatic and acted like the debate was ‘People who buy headers should be stabbed’
Simply put, there’s nothing that says headers are more effective than a decat. If someone wants them for sound, and to pick up 20hp over stock, that’s awesome and have at it. Just don’t go posting everywhere that they’re a gamechanger, or telling the internet that anyone who asks a tough question about their modest effect is a hater. It’s fucking pathetic. People need to man the fuck up if they buy something that doesn’t work out like they’d hoped.
You must have spent $5,000 on performance parts on your RS4. Did anyone of them actually work? Honestly now. Whether it was a REVO tune or Milltek exhaust that was the EXACT diameter as stock (I can’t remember what you had). After you sold the car, you were all over the B8 forums saying the RS4 doesn’t respond to mods (because your mods didn’t do shit) etc. That’s when I said you’d converted to official douchebag B8 status because the guys with JHM tune and exhaust mods are kicking some ass, and you can’t brush the entire platform because your shit didn’t work. When you sell this car, I guarantee you will in hindsight say ‘those headers weren’t a good choice’.
hahaha yea i hear you. people will always get defensive when they spend a lot of money on something. id be curious to see what happens with 3 dsg cars, one stock and one with headers/exhaust and one with test pipes/exhaust only. no software, intakes, or anything else. i wonder what the deltas would be like
oh and saki this is for you
Hey Notarmed…did you happen to see a silver/grey RS4 running at Pacific that night?

that’s easily the fastest facelift car. Pretty cool.
Why no launch control? Not as effective?
Nice run notarmed!
What were you running against? an angry bumble bee?

At least for me (when I was tuned), it feels like it bogs down a bit off of the line.
Still catching up, great stuff well_armed…just to echo what everyone else has said about 91 tune, stage I, it’s really incredible.
Actually what’s pretty stupid here is you’re throwing away so much power with 700 less rpm than anyone else on the list…and worse gearing…the more you look at it, it’s fucking staggering.
I have no idea what’s helping your car so much.
why does he have 700 less RPM?
also the GIAC 91 approaches APR 93 levels of timing and he ran 92 octane which is actually pretty decent fuel compared to the 91 in Cali or elsewhere. So it’s not that much of a handicap.
He is also catless, has a good catback, runs the right intake, and has light weight wheels, tires (-10lbs/corner) and a Stoptech BBK that likely has rotors that weigh a good bit less than the 26 lb stockers.
Finally, the density altitude was -1000 feet. http://www.dragtimes.com/da-density-altitude-calculator.php?temperature=54.0&rh=45&altset=30.56&elevation=10&track=117&month=5&day=1&year=2013&time=8:53 PM
So I have some idea of how he was so fast. You should too.
The 2013 B8.5 shortshifts at like 6500rpms, while the B8 goes up to about 7200.

same redline, but it shifts at 6500? That makes no sense.
Also doesn’t the DSG B8 shift at 7000, not 7200?
