B8 S4 Launching

Hey everyone, my name is Chris and i am from greenwich, CT. I drive a 2013 S4 estoril blue. Some mods are PSS10 coilovers, awe exhaust, eurcode intake, laser interceptors, and probally a few more that I am forgetting.

So recently i sent a video to my friend who is a 335xi owner of me launching my car. He claims that you cant launch a b8 s4 because you will kill quattro, the transmission, and drivetrain. He says instead of dropping the clutch, you need to let it out slowly until it bites, but i feel this will just burn up your clutch. He says only dsg owners can launch their cars. However, doesnt dsg put the same amount of stress on your drivetrain?

Also, he is one that just flaunts his dyno reports, with his best numbers being 408whp and 480wtq on a mustang dyno. However, he doesnt have any 1/4 times lol. Auditude knows the full story with my friend Peter so hopefully he can chime in here. He also thinks that he will destroy pete in a race from a dig. Here is a video of my friend launching his 335xi lol.

Peter who ran a white B8S4 at the dyno day? Ask him how well I launched

He mentioned a white b8 s4 at the dyno day, but he didnt mention anything about running it with you. He actually said you wouldnt run it with him… How did it end up? lol

Ran a few times actually, he did beat me. in the 40 rolls I only got one clean run. we did a bunch of 60 rolls also, still beat me. My 3rd gear synchros suck so 40 rolls are rough for me. I dyno’d 365 that day.

Wrong car Luis, you ran Kristian not this clown that Chris is talking about.

Tell this kid to hit the strip, otherwise I have no respect. Dynos prove nothing to me.

haha, the minute i told him that he would have to pay you $250 if he doesnt break you time he backed right off. He was like no, i have no need to go to the track. I am perfectly content with knowing that my car makes 408whp and 480wtq on a mustang dyno. So why should i take the risk. haha

Lol so good… No manual all wheel drive sedan 335 has gone faster than 12.1 and the fastest all wheel drive on race gas, tuned automatic and meth went 11.7x@118.xx

My grandma launches her Buick Park Avenue harder than that!

He thinks that was a better launch than this…

I think it’s important to remember, he is a BMW owner. That says it all.

It’s not a B8 S4 but, it’s the same transmission and clutch design (aftermarket in this case)

As a safe bet, if Auditude3.0T says it, it’s true. I would wager, he has forgotten more about the S4 then the BMW owner ever knew.

Welcome to Audirevolution

My bad, then ask kristian lol

Is that a diesel? Why does he slam shifts at 5000 rpm?

LOL. he thinks that launch is better than Pete’s launch… He also thinks that he was shifting really quick hahaha. I still dont understand why he thinks dumping the clutch is so bad. it puts the exact same stress on the drivetrain as dsg with launch control does. and believe me, Peter(335xi owner) and Pete(s4) are in quite the battle right now lol ;D

He is saying all of this because most Audi owners can’t launch their car for fucking shit. So then they hide from launching it and act like the car is made of glass. He probably has met one or two.

Think of all the B5 S4 guys who use that as an excuse for their 13.5 @ 109 timeslips from their 420 whp cars. “The dragstrip is too hard on the car”. Then they never go back out of embarrassment.

Hell there’s a local-to-him B8 S4 owner with a manual transmission and a loaded mod list who has dynod a million and does roll testing every 2 days but who is terrified of the dragstrip and has refused to run the car for the better part of 3 years. When asked why, he always references that same reason your friend is quoting. “The clutch can’t handle it so I can’t launch it or it will break”.

If you are referring to me and my 60k miles stock clutch - you can ask Pete how it went when he tried launching my car. And he has about 50 time slips and launches both his cars pretty good. Yes I’m absolutely terrified of going to the track! Smh

Actually it’s called I don’t feel like driving 1.5 hrs and destroying my daily driven car’s clutch and then getting towed home for the sake of what again? There is a manual s4 test driver aka pete doing plenty of testing for us.

As far as dynoing a million times- it was four times and roll racing/testing every other night ::)- I usually serve as the spotter and don’t readily participate in the festivities. My once every few months random pbox run is just fine.

Nice try though.

If you weren’t talking about me… then forget the above.

^^^hey! there he is!

This is why the BMW guy says stuff like he did. Most Audi owners say the same stuff.

It’s no big deal. It’s just very common, and if we’re trying to understand his comments, it’s pretty simple. quattro puts more stress on components like a clutch when launching a car because while the car holds traction, which it does very well, the clutch is the breaking point. Until the tires get loose, all the stress of the launch is on the clutch. Once you do break traction the clutch is far less stressed out and all is well. But that one moment can grenade your stock clutch if it is weak.

Or your half shaft

top of the mornin to ya bud. I really don’t say anything… but whatever floats your boat.

I said you dyno’d a million as in a million hp. Your car makes boatloads of power.
