The quattro gen 6 “crown” center diff on the B8.5 is about that much lighter. I’d be pretty worried about fucking with the internal mass of the DSG (other than upgrading the clutch packs), since it’s all computer controlled, and to my knowledge, calibrated in an extremely complex manner. DSG’s are challenging to design control algorithms around since the time scales are so small. More so for daily driving than beating on it at a racetrack.
Dumb question, but I wonder if cars w/o the sports diff could be faster, since it’s got to be quite a few extra lbs of spinning mass. I don’t see how the SD would make you faster.
Drag racing kind of makes me feel like the one honest rider in the Tour de France. Only through some research I did today did I realize just how potent VP Racing MS109 fuel in a 5 gallon can is (and important to the sport of drag racing). Even a moron like me could run a 12.0 on that SpaceX grade incendiary petrol. Anyway, I’ll come prepared next time. Sunoco grade California 100 octane at neighborhood gas stations is crap. The stuff you get at the track like VP101 is better. MS109 seems like it’s in another league, and a contributing factor to times I thought were outrageous like the ones Auditude2.0T posts. Of course, no one told me you had to use that fuel for your $60k car to go that fast.
Congrats Pete and Tsivas! That same “old” car is fast no matter what tune it runs. I can see it now, next thread on AZ will be people swapping out their BBKs and looking for 17" wheel fitments…
MS109 is 105 octane lol. It’s race gas not diamonds in liquid form.
Greggie- still confused… How is this gas going to help you shift faster than a guy with one arm from your previous drag racing disaster video? Also I think having someone push your car from behind (maybe one of pit guys) could result in a better launch technique than you currently have.
Are you planning on drinking the stuff? #notrecommended
I only want to know what my car will run the way I drive it every day. I ran 11.61 on the same 19" rims that I drive on every day. I am not interested in Removing the seats and or changing to smaller lighter rims. Just my opinion.
