Back from the track... thought I'd share

Went to Lapeer today… Wasn’t very busy and track prep was pretty decent. about 51F, drag times says +288 DA.

Made 3 passes. Tire pressure at 31F 29R, changed to 32F 28R to hook better on the 4th run and then the freezing rain came down LOL. Might’ve pulled an 11.5x

Short shifted 1-2 on all 3 runs…

On the 11.7 run, car went into limp mode. Misfires on cylinders 3,4,5 I believe (I think I need new coil packs)

Logged the 11.6 @116 run if anyone would like to see just PM your email

Funny aside, guys at the track told me 11.9 or faster requires a cage but they were so impressed with the car that they let me keep running. They said if I ran an 11.5x that I would technically have to leave but the guys really wanted to see it happen, very cool of them!

Should’ve added this to the OP but straight 100 octane, about half tank. 100 octane map used on these runs

Muneeb, That’s awesome! Very impressive ET’s, you’re picking up a ton on the back half of the track! Almost unbelievable amounts of ET… The hangup is hurting your 1/8th et’s and probably mph slightly and your 60’s aren’t great, but wow… Your 11.62 pass is interesting because your 1/8th had you on pace for an 11.70. The 11.67 was also impressive on the top end as the 1/8th shows more like a 11.78 1/4. You’ve run here before? Not doubting you in any way just curios as those times are out of the norm given the 1/8th #'s… Email me the logs mustanggtron@yahoo.com

Thank you Ron! Very happy with the times. This was my first time running my car here. I’ve come to lapeer dragway with friends before but haven’t run there until today. I’ll have the logs sent sometime tonight.

Planning on going to Milan tomorrow morning as well. Think a bunch of the canada guys are going there tonight from what Jones told me… Wanted to join them but I’m a bit tired from all the driving today

Lapeer is pretty casual usually, but they always get tough if you’re running fast.

I think technically 11.49 or better is roll cage territory. Most of these rules are being overlooked these days for new cars. They’re generally more concerned with old clunker drag cars held together with tape.

Lapeer is weird like that. Milan is a certified track and they are more lax from time to time on tech in. Lapeer seems to be good for faster mph.

Good runs. If you can back it up at milan thats a great thing

Need to find engine oil if I want to run at Milan tomorrow lol, got the low warning on the way home. I’ll try the local auto store in the morning. Wish dealership was open because I get free top offs…

justin, do you see significant trap differences when running at lapeer vs milan?

I and others I know have seen a difference in trap speeds. Lapeer seems to always be faster by a few mph. It will be interesting to see if you get a chance to get to milan tomarrow to see how the trap speeds match up.

I dont want it to sound like Im looking to take away from how your car did as your car is obviously fast.

His et and mph look pretty bang on. Mph may even be low

Lapeer is not a nhra/ihra certified dragstrip iirc so you should ask them what rules they’re enforcing lol.

The 1/4 et seems optimistic to me given the 1/8 et’s…

7.653 * 1.55 = 11.86 vs his 11.72
7.600 * 1.55 = 11.78 vs his 11.67
7.552 * 1.55 = 11.70 vs his 11.62

Basically, ET looks about .1 optimistic given all the results I’ve seen over the years from myself and others…

Also, I’m in no way insinuating anything towards Muneeb just thought the times seemed odd… Hope I’m wrong actually…

I was referring only to the 1/4 et vs mph to address Justin and momo’s last posts about Lapeer mph being too high relative to other tracks.

Don’t know what to say about the times at Lapeer guys. They weren’t too far off what I ran today but I guess I’ll just not go there anymore lol… no point if they aren’t certified…

So with what little race gas and oil I had left, I made it out to Milan. Made 4 passes before I was low on fuel and called it, wish I could’ve stayed longer though. CountVohn was there and his wife got my last pass on video, I’ll post that once I get it. Thanks btw Kurt!

drag times says DA -450 today about 52F.

Overall happy with being this far into the 11’s… I’ll see if I can go any faster next spring. Getting a few maintenance items done over the winter and will hopefully have water/meth setup. Car should be running stronger next season.

Nice. Basically validated the Lapeer times.

Solid runs. And as saki said it is nice to see you backed up the times you ran at lapeer.

I was going to go to the track today with CV ended up getting called into work. Nice to know his wife filled in for me lol.

Muneeb, Awesome times man! As Saki and Justin said glad you were able to prove the times to be accurate… As I mentioned was never questioning you just thought the ET’s looked odd given the front half of the track…

I like how your 60’s improved as your getting closer to where it should be IMO…

I know you weren’t questioning me, I should’ve realized that lapeer wasn’t certified before going. Good to know the times weren’t completely off. Still want to bring my trap up next season, I believe I’m the only stock tcu dual pulley car. I’ve seen apr cars trap 119 on the stock tcu so I think my car should be able to do that. Not sure if I’ll ever see 120+ on the stock tcu though.

But yes, 60s are looking better, I was still spinning them pretty good that day. Figure I can bring that down a bit more next time round…

But I’m still pretty stoked with the times guys. Compared to the top guys, there is some room for improvement. I figure the car is capable of going even faster so now I have something to look forward to! May have a chance to run once more at PBIR this winter but if not, it’ll be in the spring at Milan.

I bet you’re bleeding off a bunch of boost. See if you can get the special sauce tune that Primetime has for 2 pulleys.

your trap speeds look like standard stage 2 traps, not double pulley traps.

APR has contacted a few people offering them better tunes when they can control a few variables like your fueling quality etc. so no reason you shouldn’t get that treatment with your times being what they are, and having 2 pulleys.

Hmm I didn’t realize PT was on a different tune… I know he alluded to them possibly making a new file but I didn’t know he was running said file already.

I wonder if the stock TCU is limited in what trap speeds it can achieve, is the extra 200 rpm the key to trapping 120+? Car isn’t pulling timing as it sits but like an idiot I didn’t log bypass. I bet you’re right as that’s what I suspected myself. Ron said he was bleeding boost as well on his very first logs with both pulleys on.

Now I really want to make my florida trip happen, would be cool to run the new file at PBIR.

yeah, he kind of alluded to it with a big evil grin a while back. Something about ‘no more bypass for me’ or something. Maybe he can chime in.

PBIR you’ll set the all time Audi record probably, running 9.9 @ 155

As for trap speeds, shifting your curve 200 RPM to the right isn’t going to have a huge influence. For a more extreme example, we saw a local member run his RS4 with a 6 PSI stage 1 JHM supercharger being forced to shift at 7500 RPM rather than 8200 and he trapped as well as anyone ever has with that kit on the car. The JHM supercharger thrives at high RPM, and despite this, he was still right where he should be.

Saki, lol at the PBIR comment.
