badtoyz build thread.

Damn that sucks. Hopefully they handle this professionally for you. I’d be livid too, but try and be nice when dealing with them. They’ll be more inclined to take care of you.

Yep. A lot of shops just throw stuff together and hope that it works without reading the instructions.

I think a local shop to me (NGP Racing) has been messing up JHM clutch installs for a little bit because a few people have been contacting me about issues with their JHM clutch kit that was installed by NGP.

if I didn’t spend so much time explaining the issues to the guy I wouldn’t be so mad but I did and he still fucked it up. I just hope and pray that its loose bolts and that’s it.

The good news is it sounds like they are going to try and make it right. Don’t expect them to tell you exactly what it is but it’s got all the signs of the bolts backing out.

Was this issue immediate or did it happen after driving the car for a bit?

It was fine when I left the shop. I put a total of 167 km on it. I went to get a case of beer and noticed it in the drive thru. Clutch engagement right at the floor and clutch not fully disengaging.

Soon as I noticed it i parked the car and haven’t driven it since. That was Friday afternoon.

Tranny being pulled now. Jake I’ll contact u right away if anything is messed up. He swears up and down left and right that he followed the instructions to the letter. Torque spec. Loc tite. tightening pattern. everything.

Good luck man. I hope everything works out.

Any luck?

They found PP bolts in the bell housing, badtoyz murdered the tech, and now there is a man hunt for him…

just a guess

it’s not America though. So he may have punched the guy’s mouth loose, but not likely a murder.

LOL Murder happens everywhere, not just the land of the free

Take note that nowhere in my post did I say ‘murder only happens in America’ or ‘murder never happens in canada’.

The key to forming a strong argument is to avoid hyperbole and absolute terms like ‘never’ or ‘none’. I said ‘not likely’ as it is far less likely in Canada than it is in America. That’s simply a fact.

Here…enjoy.

Your country is nearly 3 times as likely to have a murder as Canada. That’s pretty significant, for a ‘sophisticated’ country!

Haha I don’t doubt that for a second.

We are extremely sophisticated, proof is in the pudding:

lol you guys are funny.

so we pulled the tranny and by we I mean me and the tech. I checked every bolt on the pp and the flywheel and everything was tight. the tech also marked every bolt on the flywheel when he put it in the first time and none had moved even a 32. I see no faults or issues with the parts and see no faults or issues with the installation. I ordered a new slave and a stainless line because that’s the only thing it could be unless its the master in which case I wont have to r&r the tranny a third time so slave and line first.

I took pics of everything if anyone sees anything out of the ordinary let me know.one thing that’s for sure is that the flywheel did not move. anything else that I should replace while its out?

its funny u said all that about killing the guy because once it was all said and done and we saw there was no mistakes the owner of the shop said thank you to me for keeping my cool. he said I know when u called me u were pissed and u said u were gonna punch my tech out but thank you for being cool about it all when u saw him. hes gonna let me slide on most of the labour for the tranny r&r so that’s pretty nice of them.

im glad the work was done properly and if its the slave or a weak line then its my own fault for not replacing them the first time around.

Good to hear!

Also, the flywheel bolts that are marked are not what cause this issue. It is the 6 pressure plate bolts that attach to the flywheel. A pressure plate bolt backing out by even a half turn will cause issue, as it allows the pressure plate to flex.

Also improper uneven tightening of the pressure plate bolts can screw up the springs. You need to make sure the spring fingers are still even.

i checked all 6 with a torque wrench they were all tight at 23 ft/lbs. ill take a closer look at the fingers tm. should i use Loctite on the 6 pp bolts too?

Yes, red #266 high temp loctite
