Check your feed line from the fluid reservoir to the clutch master cylinder. In 07s (early 07s IIRC), there was an issue with that line collapsing once it warms up (softens the non-reinforced rubber) and starving the master cylinder. If yours has never been changed out, I’d have a look there too.
Yeah, that’s definitely too high near the hinges…could you take a pic of the hinges themselves with the hood open? Maybe we can spot something out of place…
ill get some pics of the hood once i get focused on it. right now im working out a few kinks here and there. my clutch is not right so im gonna try and bleed it and see if that helps. i also dont have the shifter 100 percent just yet and my drc system is being replaced with bilsteins that i just got. as you guys know if youve been following this thread i decided to go with h&r springs to lower my car. whe i out them on i broke a line on the driver side and seeing as how it was 400 bucks to replace i decided to just take the passenger side one off so i didnt damage it. i had the dealer recharge the system but they didnt get all the air out so the car is bouncy, just the same as if you have a blown out shock. i know the issue is just air in the system so i took it back to them to try and recharge it again. they told me that the only way to really bleed it properly is to open the cnaisters at the rear and force the air out. my canisters and the lines going to them are rough so i know as soon as they touched them they would break and leak so i would be into parts, seeing as the parts for the drc system are made of 24 karat gold i decided to just tap out and buy new shocks. so if anyone needs drc parts…
i will be running the bilstein shocks with the b5 perches and h&r springs. im also going to remove the entire drc system and ill see what it weighs. should save me a few pounds anyway. thanks to performance revolution for the new shocks!
Maybe it doesn’t apply to the RS4, but it’s my understanding that aftermarket shocks won’t work with the B5 spring perches. Don’t exactly know why, but that’s what I heard. Maybe a propensity to bottom the shock and break the valving.
It never occurred to me they might not fit. I’ll report back once I do the suspension. That would suck if they don’t.
*seems youre right. i just tried the oem perches and they dont fit on the bilsteins so ii doubt the b5s will either. so that means i will likely have the reverse rake again once i install them. the perches from bilstein have a machined lip where they sit on the shock. i could probably have it machined out a few mm to keep the height where i want it.
It is. The shocks look great. I’m thinking of not installing the isolator. I seem to remeber the height difference being something like 5mm from b7 to b5 perches on the rs4.
ok so my car is officially finished… for now. almost a year to the day that I started the sc install.
my cutch issues have been sorted and its grabbing like a mofo now.
I was having an issue with the silicone intake tube collapsing when the supercharger demanded air so it was literally choking the car. im not sure whats wrong but the tube had something go wrong in the manufacturing process. a quick call to jhm and they sent me out a new one and its hard as a rock compared to the other one. I also decided to go ahead and order the maf tube. the oem one balloons up like crazy when just reving the car and with the LA I can only rev to 5500. I can just imagine what it looked like at 8k. theres a quick video to show what I mean.
the o2 sensors… I replaced all 4 which cost me 1200 bucks oem right from the stealership. for some reason my car will not take an aftermarket sensor.
ive been driving the car and it feels properly fast. ill report back once I have some actual data.
Man, $1200 for o2 sensors is a shot in the kidney. Not trying to brag, but I actually ordered 4 new oem o2 sensors last night and spent almost half that. I know you’re in Canada so maybe that’s why they’re so expensive, but https://jimellisaudimariettaparts.com/ is gonna be cheap as hell for all Audi parts. I’m not sure what shipping costs to Canada would look like. Know your part numbers though because their catalog is weird and will only show the correct RS4 parts if you filter by 2008 RS4 Cabriolet: https://jimellisaudimariettaparts.com/parts/2008/Audi/RS4/Cabriolet/?siteid=218759&vehicleid=203853&searchText=
It’s good to see you’re getting the car wrapped up. When you say done, you mean until you go stage 2 right?
Yeah I looked at the USD/CAD exchange rate after my post. Wow you guys need to turn up the maple syrup spigot. My O2 sensors were $154.56 each for the fronts and $133.73 each for the rears.
