youll have to let me know if youre goin down there for another meet sak, id tag along for sure.

Haha that’s pretty funny. You must have gotten lucky or something. I went specifically for a jack and stands after I found a 20% off coupon. I decided to buy a couple other things because of the coupon but when I got to the register she rang every thing up and it sounded high. I asked if she applied the coupon. She told me oh yeah I did but if you read the fine print it’s only for 1 item and you can’t use it towards a jack. So $60 off quickly turned to $10 off

swag, are u saying I need that support bar for the clutch? or for when I need to do mounts?

For the clutch, mounts, etc.

There should be some 8 mm allen bolts that screw into the bottom of the bell housing from the engine side and the subframe has to be lowered to get access to them. Just like on the S4s.

I have the same support bar but mine is old, faded, and starting to rust. That along with my transmission jack have made their cost back so many times over that it was well worth the money.

ok, if I cant find those tools locally ill order from harbour freight.

just got the call from audi, while trying to get my line “done right” they have mangled it so theyre replacing the entire line for me free of charge. but now I wont have the car until tomorrow.

Can you say “Mixed Emotions”?

didthey give you a loaner? tell them you need something baller. Then we’ll race it with UW ricers on University avenue.

lol, no loaner, I have my truck so its no biggie. and my plan today was to install the new lights on the plow so its ok. I just kinda wanted to say I toldja so is all.

and now my budys 2000 a6 is in my garage cuz his starter crapped out today so its gonna be a fun night.

It’s good to get some practice before the big game. Do some light work on the A6 before the rs4. If it’s a v8 A6 have him take pictures and do a audirevolution.net A6 starter install thread.

I looked at a couple threads before we started but he just did his alternator and swore up and down we could get the starter out without removing the bumper… he was right. R&R starter on a 2000 2.7 tt a6. 3 hours!!!
no need to take the front clip off.

heres a pic of the old starter sitting on the front clip that’s still on! I know way off topic and wrong forum but im way impressed.

car has 360k km on it and has never let him down. even today we just bump started it and drove it to my place.

ok so back on topic. I picked my car up today and went for a nice long drive. my initial thoughts, the ride is definitely firmer and the car is quite noticeably lower when sitting in it. it feels tighter when u really crank the wheel into a turn. that being said if it was any firmer or any lower I would go back to stock. that’s my limit for ride quality.

I also went over a bunch of speed bumps and in and out of steep inclined driveways, I didn’t scrape or bottom out or rub at all but I was also going a hell of a lot slower than I normally would. im glad I only did springs and didn’t go full coilover.

heres a few shots at the final ride height.

Looks good man. Speed bumps scare the shit out me to the point that I do everything possible to avoid them. I’ve passed on places to live because of speed bumps before even. All over Colorado they have these stupid channels in front of every entrance, driveway, parking lot, etc. that dips down then up really hard. I have to hit those at angles and can’t go in certain gates to my neighborhood or the headers will scrape.

more and more of my favourite short cuts are getting those 30km/h speed humps and I hate it. theyre perfect for scraping the nose off your car. ya I def could not go any lower and keep my sanity.

Same in Texas. I fucking hate speed bumps and those stupid fucking storm drains at the bottom of driveways.

Even going sideways, I have scraped the bottom of my front fender or the cats underneath.

This is half the reason I am doing an air suspension. We have turned down houses that we were looking at because my Evo X couldn’t clear. Had to buy a bridge-it for our house.

whats a bridge-it?

100 lb slab of rubber that “bridges” the gap between the street and driveway. Really helpful in CO because of the curb rise.
