badtoyz JHM stage 1 install.

a/c line installed, alternator back in, metal removed for clearance, brackets and pulleys installed.

I put the new ac line with little issue, like I said dropping the sway bar and removing the electrical connections and coolant lines is the way to go about getting this line in and out. that being said I had a fuck of a time getting the coolant lines back on the the back of the alternator. dropping the subframe would have allowed for more room to do this but a little patience and some long needle nose and I got the line on. I also got rid of the spring clamp and went with a gear clamp, if u use 4 extensions u can sneak the socket in there and tighten the clamp fairly easily, so fuck u spring clamp

I did all my clearance cutting and forgot to take a pic. looking at the sc mounted and the room behind it I was finding it hard to believe the intake hose is going to fit but after a few measurements its looking good. I did cut a larger hole than needed because I had a few ideas of how to make it look prim and proper kind of like how sar welded in his cuts. I still haven’t wired the garage with a 220 plug so for now im just gonna leave it open.

oh and the alternator is ridiculously tight against the frame rail, I couldn’t get it out without making a small bend in the lip on the bottom of the frame rail so while I had the zip disc on I cut about 3/8 of an inch off the bottom of the frame rail lip. this made installation of the alternator a shit ton easier and it allows just a bit more clearance for the coolant line.

installing the brackets and pulleys was very straight forward. looks mint and strong as hell. I need to install the clamp supplied with the kit to keep the wires away from the charger and mock up the rest of the lines to ensure theres proper clearance for everything and then permanently install the charger. gettin close!!

Where’s the starter? Any thoughts about putting a new one in?

I think its right behind the alternator. I never even thought to look at it tbh. I just went to look and realized I forgot to plug the alternator back in so I may have to take everything off again. if that’s the case ill have a look at it, if it looks newish ill leave it be.

Wow, great work. I like putzing on things, but it takes some big Kahunas to tackle a project like that.

thanks man. 1 thing at a time and keeping your patience is key. finding the time is hard right now but should get better once Christmas is over.

Take your time that is the key. I also found if you really take your time and you really watch and understand each step it cam be helpful if you ever need to trouble shoot something.

I def need to get back it. my wifes truck now needs every front end part u can think of so ive been letting her drive my truck. today I had to do some running around so I jumped in my truck and started driving down the road and noticed the headlights were flickering. I have a toggle switch under the dash that switches the power from the lights on the truck to the lights on the plow and I guess the wife yanked her purse out and broke that switch and as soon as I touched it it fell apart so now im 20 min from home in the country pitch black with no lights. I was real happy. I need to get my car on the ground for a day or 2 and get her truck back to ok so she can stop driving mine!!

it was real fun only being able to see the road when the 4 ways flashed.

just a bit of venting, women and vehicles make me pull my hair out. back to the charger install lol.

For many years I thought about getting a manual just so the wife couldn’t drive my car. Then I just decided I just would ever let her drive your car. I found it works better that way.

LOL - my spouse is pretty good. She insists on a manual, and is a good driver. Even co-driven AX with me in my built Subaru.

Now if I could just get her to clean her car…

I think the correct term for that is “balding” LOL

Lucky for me my girlfriend is afraid to drive my truck  but unlucky for me she loves driving my her s4 and making me drive her Lancer to work.

I just tell her the s4 is broken so she wont drive it

You can try tricking her. It works when I did it. I tell her so and so’s girlfriend washes his car for him, then I get a clean car.

Looking Good!

LOL - that’s not going to work. Not sure how insecure your gal is, but my wife is pretty damn sure of her place in the world.

don’t even get me started on her cleanliness habbits in the car. you would swear someone is living in her truck.

anyhoo, back at it. I had a pretty nasty cold the last few days so I didn’t make it anywhere near the garage.

today I got the charger put in its final home, loctited all bolts and installed the tensioner and then the belt. I then moved on to relocating the ac drier in the wheel well. that went in fairly nicely u can see a few holes around where I had it before I was finally happy with the fit.

the cushion clamps they give u with the kit were way to big for my drier, apparently they come in a few different sizes every pic I looked at was different and mine seems to be the slimmest of them all, no biggie I just clipped about an inch and a half off the clamps and drilled a new screw hole.

the ac lines provided with the kit are great everything went back together with ease, the only 2 lines left to put back are the ones that go to the condenser.

wiring harness has been tucked away from the charger using the provided cushion clamp and the old sai pump hole. u can see the coolant line I wasn’t quite sure what to do with with the reducer on it then being routed under the frame rail and over the charger. I toyed with the idea of running it beside the wiring harness. that tidied things up a bit but I couldn’t get enough clearance to be happy with it so I said screw it and ran it where the instructions said to.

im still feeling a bit shitty so I didn’t go overboard but made some ok progress. im very happy looking at it all put together with the belt on though. I cant believe how tight everything is in there. when jhm says 1/4" clearance they mean it.

ive got some pics of what I cut away. like I mentioned before I cut out about twice the amount needed because I have a plan for that hole later. the actual hole is smaller than your fist. Justin asked me if I had kept the pieces that I cut out just to snap a pic for all those retards that freak out about the hole but I totally forgot. I also chose to trim the lip completely off instead of just hammering it flat, 1 because it looks better and 2 because its less edges and corners to catch things on.

we officially have another RHD JHM stage 1 install!! Nabz.zw a new member here has been pming me asking questions about the kit. it is ordered and on its to him in Zimbabwe. way to go!!! he told me he opted to not bother with the ac lines because of the RHD and because he has never used it.

audirevolution, the home of the jhm supercharged audis!!!

Nice work and great news. When I tell people about this site I always say it’s the only place to be if you drive a V8 Audi. Guess I need to tweak that to include supercharged haha

Up and running!? jk cant wait to see some videos numbers and stuff!

It will be a good one because

a) he’s near a good AWD dyno that we have loads of other cars’ data on (B7 S4s, B5 S4s, B8 S4s, B7 RS4 stock, B7 RS4 full JHM bolt ons)
b) he’s near a good dragstrip where we get very solid DA in the spring and fall
c) he’s a good driver so b) should be a good indication of what his car and the kit can do
d) he’s a keener!

Yup yer right. I will have loads of data for us all to analyze. And it’ll be fun as hell.

I likely won’t be ready to turn the key until January sometime. J have Christmas at my house for the whole family this year and I’m so not ready.

I’m gonna spend more time tonight getting things on the car. There’s still a bunch of vacuum stuff to do and then figure out where all the stuff I took off goes. And then finally software.

Nice work!

ok so im back! first tme I touched the car since December was today. starting back at it slowly trying to figure out where the fuck I left off. today I jacked the car back up and removed the front wheels. I replaced all the sensors I removed to fit the new ac line that goes under the car. I also put in all the new plugs that were supplied with the kit. you can tell a lot about how a car runs by the plugs and I was pleased with how my old plugs looked. I also put the hpfp lines back on and cleaned up the throttle body. i checked the supercharger oil level and installed the breather.

there are 4 bolts for the throttle body and one has extra threads that iirc a wiring harness bolts too. looks like im gonna need to get the Bentley manual. someone told me where to get it before but I forget what thread that was even in now. if someone would kindly share that again I would be ever so grateful.

I was supposed to have a bunch of time off now but while I was away a friend recommended me for a job so im going to check it out tomorrow. if its going to take me more than a few mos to complete im going to take my car to foreign auto to be put back together. ive already decided to let them do my clutch. im really hoping I don’t have to do that though cuz I would feel defeated but i need to drive my car so…
