Welcome back man. Good stuff and I hope you decide to stick with it. Although I would see where you’re coming from if you’re too busy to finish it up in a reasonable amount of time. It sucks walking past your car day after day without being able to drive it.
hahaha. i have a very particular set of skills… im a custom welder and fab guy. i have made a good name for myself on my side of the world so i can come and go as i please. in the winter i do snow removal.
i checked out the job today its a lot of robot shit and very little hands on but if they offer it to me im gonna take it. i have nothing else lined up for the summer so i might as well. its not gonna be a heavy work load so i should be good to work on the car.
sak, all i really have left is to put it all back together. the parts box is just about empty. some hoses here and there and a small amount of wiring. zip tie everything and put everything back in its home. and then install software. im 75 percent or more done what im going to do. once its running its going to foreign auto and ill have them do the clutch and while under there pop in 2 new front o2s.
Jason at foreign auto has also asked me if im available to do some custom exhaust welding for him which is my fav shit to do so bringing my car there could be beneficial for work as well. hes got a scirocco getting 1.8t swap and hes custom making the exhaust.
anyhoo today i spent time on the g35 its all clean and looking sexy. i have a driveshaft support bearing that should be in tomorrow, im gonna get that done then back on the audi.
i still really need a Bentley. euro if your reading this i think it was u that told me where to get it???
I don’t know where you get the paperback but the CD-ROM can be found a lot of places. ECS has it for $90 I think. The issue is you need to install it on XP or 2000. Luckily though if you have Windows 7, it’s already set up to emulate XP. After its installed and registered you can just access it anywhere from the website.
I love fabrication…or the idea of it. I’m a garage tinkerer - been able to MIG a few cool projects. I’d like to pick up a nice TIG/Plasma cutter but I recently sold my rustly old project car, so I guess I’m not in as much of a hurry.
the supercharger in its entirety is officially finished!!! all hoses, valves, breathers, and charge pipes done. I finished up the last of the ac plumbing and am now ready to trim the bumper and reinstall the front clip.
couple things of note: the jhm instructions are not step by step everythignu need to know is in there but not in order at all. theres nothing u cant figure out but common sense has to be used. I ran into an issue where I had pinched some breather ad vac lines when reinstalling the intake so make sure all your lines are free and clear before bolting that sucker back down.
I realize its taken me 8 mos to get this complete but I think any hands on mechanically inclined person could complete this in a month easily. im almost ready to finish this thread off I just need to show my bumper trimming.
Looks great. This might have been covered somewhere before but… I know my engine bay gets COOKING. That has to kill the AITs. Has anyone tried leaving the seals off to allow a little breathing? Would that cause the hood not to close evenly?
I pull mine and I know it helps. I know on the automatic Jhm stage 1 test car that was local to me. There was a nice gain removing the weather stripping and allowing fresh air to pass over the blower. So don’t install the snow gard in the summer. The other last part is the intake snorkel if you modify that to fit over the relocated air filter it makes a huge difference in intake temps.
good to know about the weather stripping. ill take that off. I will be modifying the snorkel/airbox to get fresh air right to the filter. im also not going to reinstall the plastic skid plate/cover underneath the car for some more ventilation.
