Bench racing... spring race lined up... should be interesting...

Yes, pump 93. I wasn’t planning on going to the strip so I had 3/4 of a tank

They let me run the first one without a helmet and when they saw the time I had to rent one for 10 bucks lol

I have a very crappy video I took on my iphone. I have to get my son to post it on youtube

tsivas, that 10.87 run I had I didn’t shift into 5, wind out 4th and you’ll just barely get past 130. Might have been the decline but I had done multiple runs without 5th. Worth a shot

93 revo is knocking? Know why? Timing? Afr?

a revo car wemt 12.2 on pump yesterday.fast!

p.s ron an rs4 is faster (esp. trap!) than you again.

edit didn’t know there was page 4 lol

way to go tribe!!! That’s killer fast.

what gas are you running?

tsivas, again no hurry on getting the box as I’ll mostly use it at the strip but I will play with it on the street so I can learn how to use it… I assume it’s pretty easy…

tribe, great great times man! did you shallow stage? what kind of tire pressure? little less weight on the gas side and take out the spare and tools with a better 60 and you would be real low 12’s… car is moving well…

Saki, depending on who you listen to, Revo supposedly tweak the knock sensor capablilities on their tune so they can run more timing and there is rumor of some cars detonating/pinging…

That is awesome on the RS4! Was bound to happen sooner than later with the extra displacement and all… Any vids on this RS4? JHM or someone in England finally went to santapod? please share if possible… what did it run…

Saki, Never mind found it… very healthy trap indeed… et can and should be improved on with a better 60ft time as you pointed it… they left quite a bit of et on the table, none the less still very good time… Gonna be a fun year for the Audi drag racing scene as it seems more and more are embracing it… B8 guys are really starting to hit the track more and more which is really cool to see and gives us much more data to look at and compare… Will see if I can beat that 11.71 come April… just need the right conditions and it should be close… Either way just excited to have some fun and glad others are as well…

Hey guys; Thanks for the compliments on the times!

My car is giving me occasional knock codes but they don’t seem to be related to mashing the gas… Yesterday after the runs I scanned it and I didn’t have any fault. Gary @ Revo told me there is a revision for my 2012 DSG ECU that will get rid of the codes. My guess is it will either slow down the car or desensitize the knock sensors even more!! lol

At this point we all think that REVO has touched the knock sensor’s sensitivity and I really want to find out by “How much”. Jason is gathering all the logs and info and “the man” will help. We are all willing to take some risks when we tune our cars but that doesn’t mean stupid. I don’t care if I have to wipe out the Revo tune and go APR. I rather loose $1200 and not face a 25K repair bill, but I will wait for hard evidence since I don’t get scared that easy either.

Ron, I was running 33 psi on all corners and had 3/4 tank of pump 93. You asked me “did you shallow stage?” and I have no clue what that means… The only thing I did was drive around the water box, turn off AC and turn off ASR.

This was my first time at a drag strip and I’m hooked! The first 2 runs I didn’t know where to stop my car… The guy was inching me. Than I asked in the line and someone told me about the 2 lights…

I noticed a lag when between stepping on the throttle and the car taking off. My R/Ts suck but I think part of that was this lag… I was going to try LC but I decided to leave that for another day

They sell 100 and 110 octane gas there and I’m wondering what would my car do with that!

Cheers

Pablo, You did very very well for your first time at the strip… Did you happen to log your runs? It’s really easy and if you need any tips let me know or Jason/Tsivas etc. You definetly had conditions and the track on your side yesterday as well… MIR is considered one of if not the fastest strip… It is at under 100 feet and the DA yesterday when you ran was -1700! Just for perspective it was +550DA when I went 11.79. Regardless still a great time and I am not trying to take away from it… just letting you know so that if you go back and can repeat the times you will understand…

Shallow staging is when you just barely activate the 2nd yellow on the tree and stop there… There is a foot or so between shallow staging and deep staging… Shallow staging basically lets you get a foot or so start before the clocks start… What I do is pass through the first beem and then left foot brake and creep a few inches at a time and as soon as the 2nd yellow is activated I stand on the brake with my left foot…

Given the conditions(basing on what dragtimes says) you could have improved your 60ft time by probably running 28psi in the rears… 33 is probably good for the fronts… Did you get any spin? Yes the car will lag between hitting the gas and going… If you want to improve your RT then basically go on the 2nd to last yellow on the tree as it is going down… This has NO impact on your ET but will make you a better bracket racer if you care…

Next time onlu go with 1/8 tank and take our your spare and tools and any other stuff in the car…Try shallow staging also… Be careful with race gas at the track as most tracks carry leaded and not unleaded… 100 is usually unleaded so you should be OK but there is no 110 unleaded so don’t use that… I run Sunoco GT260 which is 100… you can also get MS109 which is 104 octane I believe… Your car will run a few tenths faster on race gas and race gas tune… You would have probably went 11.9 yesterday on race gas IMO… Hope that helps and I am glad you had fun and are now hooked! later Ron

hey Prime, I’m heading to the strip. What do I log in the runs? You can email me at tribe3@gmail.com

Nice! You going to run 100? I’ll shoot you an email in a few minutes… Good luck and most of all have fun! I’m so damn jealous… lol

hahaha he’s going again!

nice!

rs4 ran 11.71 @ 124.7 and yes drag racing is having a revival. Why? Because the b8 works…so nobody is scared of the strip. Tts works so they’re not scared. Jhm works so they’re not scared. The guys who make a million excuses…there’s usually something they don’t want us to know!!!

^^ Great first post and welcome!

lol

Hey guys, I had a shitty day… I got to the track and the place was packed. A car hit the wall because of a coolant line blew up and the track closed for an hour while they cleaned up the mess. Looks like coolant is difficult to clean… I managed to make one run which was nothing exciting compared to yesterday. 12.46X @ 112.66. And when I just got in line for my second run I had a call with an emergency from work. (We own 2 Assisted living facilities with my wife) so I had to leave…

Logging didn’t go well either… I sent Jason what we got but most of the log files were empty…

I’ll post my slip later. it’s in the car

Sackofmojo it’s in this thread # 17 where hey reference our 335xi

Tribe great runs man!

Just in case you were curious…we tried it tonight, APR B8 S4 gets killed vs an F430. The biggest issue with the F430 is traction, wheelspin in the first three gears. If it was a little warmer the difference would be huge.

Pablo, Man don’t sweat it… You’ll get more opportunities… It can be frustrating but fun at the same time… Try to go a few more times before the weather gets too warm as your times will not improve then… These cars are very very responsive to atmospheric conditions…

J, Nice! Probably would have been different from a dig ::slight_smile: lol thanks for sharing…

All, I helped a fellow S4 forum member from AW yesterday and his car threw the below code and it came back after we cleared it… Anyone, ever seen it?

When I was at the track yesterday I was talking with this guy Patrick. He has a APR Stage 3+ GTI with internals and a beta APR file. He did 12.4 on pump and when I left he was switching to 100. Now I see on APR’s facebook page that he finally did 11.5 !! http://www.facebook.com/APRMotorsport

Damn ! what a difference between pump and race. Also if he wasn’t spinning his tires so much at launch he would do much better
