BlackS6's build

How much did the taillight conversion cost you? Also, gotta say those are some sexy rims!

The conversion was roughly 700 including everything. Took about 4-5 hrs to do. Not hard if you understand repinning

Not as bad as I thought it would be! And you said you live in TX? Houston by chance?

Can you expand on this? I’ve always understood a “flush” to be different than a “drain and fill.” I’d like to know because I’m was going to do a drain and fill in the next few months. I may have to drain to address a leak at a sensor, in which case I’ll have no choice. Can we really expect these transmissions to go 200k on the original fluid?

Generally a flush is when you dont pull the valve body along with not replacing the filter. Generally a full transmission fluid service requires you remove and replace the transmission filter.

What a lot of transmission flush services are is when they just pull the drain plug out wait for it to run out and then they fill back up the fluid. They never drop the pan. Generally that is not a good idea.

In theory the original fluid can due just fine and many have pushed them that far. Now for the sake of performance you want to consider getting the fluid changed sooner than later. But there is a breaking point where if you dont change your fluid and you go too long putting in new fluid is possibly worse

This is still a little confusing. What’s the best practice if you want the AT to last well past 100k?

a) flush, b) drain & fill, c) Audi AG says “do nothing, we got this…”

Audi will say a lot of things are lifetime, however some people are now at 100k plus and that’s been a lifetime for some parts especially if you actually drove the car the way it was meant to be

I did my ATF filter and fluid At 55k miles on my last s6. Basically, you need to inspect the fluid. If the fluid is ok with no evidence of breakdown (minimally due to clutchpacks) I’m an advocate to doing earlier. If you do have some as Justin mentioned in the 2008 welcome thread do not jump to changing as it may do more harm then good.

I changed my filter and fluid out on my cayenne at 100k miles after inspecting the current condition. It shifts great after that service and I believe I have extended the life of the trans by 50-100k and I drive hard due to me paying close attention.

Hope that helps, it’s not black and white on this car, but def. worth it if the opportunity is there to it!

Thx. That works for me.

BLackS6—since you’ve been aggressively hacking the S6 electronics, do you know of an easy way to add an AuxIn without resorting to the AMI module? I just want to add BT streaming audio, or maybe a Chromecast Audio for those long road trips.

San Antonio

So I got around to adding a few thing to the S6 still waiting on some parts but it’s coming along

The RS6 steering wheel with out the silver surround. Found out one of the paddle shifters is bad on it so ordering another one . Added the piano black dash and RS6 speedo

lovely combination

looks good

How hard was dash installation? Going to be very nice!

Other than getting the AC vent out (the pins on the bottom being the hardest) it was straight forward after that .

Really. that has always been the biggest thing I thought was lacking on the S6 was the dash so that dash swap would be a great thing to do. But getting the dash out from what I under stand was a big pain in the butt

If you can find parts i can potentially facilitate the shipping. I have a friend that can ship from germany to the US relatively cheap. I order parts on the regular from germany with not problems.

Finally got the steering wheel complete had to use an Audi TT airbagfrom an 09 pretty straight forward swap take your old harness put it on the airbag cut the old TT harness for the female connector and connect it. This is the only real maintenance you have to do and it’s just the ground to get the horn working

Very cool! Looks great!

Well that looks f*ckin amazing… making it just a little bit harder for me to ignore a steering wheel swap lol.

WOW that wheel really helps make a difference. And its not like the OEM wheel isnt good but the flat bottomed wheel just really makes a big difference.
